Waitaminnit..... who gives the super-evil-bundt-cake?

Gawd! What a horribly well named company. Cryptic.
Could you be more cryptic.
I am freakin' sick of this carrot out in front of us for so long.
Look, I'm an addict... been here since 6/04. Not going anywhere.
Oh, sure.... I'll take my usual semi-regular sabbaticals to rehab and whatnot... But for the love of Hatesman, give us the dayaaaaaaam info!

Please??

Well you could try that, but you'd get no new powers and the amount of missions you'd miss out on would be equivalent to a toon in CoH refusing to leave Primal Earth.

It does seem kinda backwards. Rather than give us powers to fit with our own themes we're being shoehorned to fit into the game's themes.

Some of us make Stone/Stone brutes not because of the powers but because it follows a concept. I don't wanna give my Stone/Stone brute an arachnos mace or shark powers or Mu lightning - I wanna give him epic stone powers.

Super-evil-bundt-cake is so top secret even _Castle_ won't comment on the relationship it has to claws or stalkers, or stalkers who get hit by claws.

Patron Powers are truly permanent. This powerset, once chosen, is as much a part of your character as your Name, Primary Powerset, Secondary Powerset, Body Type, and Origin.

There is currently no way for us to let you re-spec out of them and into a different one. This is because it is tied to specific content for that Patron.

Because of this, hard numbers are given, in-game, about the powers and what they do before you even choose which arc you wish to partake (and will most likely be available on the website as well).

Still a bad idea to create mass confusion only to make players wait another week for a possible answer.

Honestly Posi, it doesn't matter the reason - you guys dropped the ball on this one, plain and simple.

Since they're permanent I feel the player base wouldn't be out of line to demand needed changes (when they arise) to be fixed immediately since we can't possibly switch to another pool. No waiting 3 months for it to be fixed.

Another question: Since villains can't respec out of a pool the way heroes can, shouldn't there be some kind of perk? Seems like villains are getting the shaft without much retribution.

I'm going to reserve judgement until I see how it plays. Giving the hard numbers sounds like a very good move.

Good idea.
Such judgement can't be fully held until you actually try out what you're trying to judge.

Hard numbers or not, we're permanently locked into power choices - that's not exceptable.

Especially since the game is leaning more and more towards PvP, villain patron powers are going to mean a lot in the new zone.

Does anyone else just feel that Patron Powers are uncomic book like? This game seems to be following a disturbing trend and becoming more like a bad MMO then a comic book environment online.

Positron says the powers will be well documented. I'm sorry, but I believe that like I believe the powers are accurately documented as is, just like I believe the excuses about the SG cap that changes regularly like clockwork. This game is the most poorly documented game that I have ever played, MMO or otherwise.

Oh and in beta you USED to be able to change AT's through the Terra Volta trial. So the tech is in place to change patron powers. Just like the tech is available to do name changes, etc.

Honestly, this just is not good story in my opinion. As someone whose been an avid fan of comics from when I was a kid... I can't recall any villain or group of villains that got their powers from other villains and had them mimic them really in that aspect. Not who also had their own identity anyways.

I know because of this (being an RP'er/comic book fan) I'll probably never get Patron Powers ever. They just seem anti-genre.

I don't think so. We're permanently locked into POOL choices, not power choices. It's like being unable to change your primary and secondary, but able to change the powers within them. Of course, I could be wrong here.

Don't want to jump on ya, but... uhm... given the level of customization in-game already, is 'truly permanent' a good idea?

Being locked into a pool is just like being locked in to powers in this case. Make any excuse you want, but they messed up on this one - that's not up for argument as far as I'm concerned.

/agree, so much for "You don't have to join Arachnos any more! You can pick Burke and be independent!" Apparently once we hit 40, we'll stop being Super-Powered Mercenaries and become Super-Powered Flunkies.

[/ QUOTE ]

That's...pretty much the entire point of the game, as evidenced by several conversations and entering-mission-bubbles. I certainly don't like it, but, hey, it's apparently what the devs want.

As for post-40-power-pooling and side-switching, I would assume that your post-40 powers get deleted, and you have to pick new powers in tune with your alliance.

So getting a Patron Pool involves doing an arc? What happens if I decide that I don't like that patron and want to respec into a different patron pool later?

[/ QUOTE ]
I thought I read in an interview that you can't change patrons after you've picked one.

[/ QUOTE ]

Which is why I am not excited about I7.

Can't stand against the Arachnos. You can't beat them, join them....

Will you delve into Ghost Widow’s darkest desires, Sirocco’s shocking secret, Mako’s dangerous drive, or Black Scorpion’s shadowed past?

So now we know:

Ghost Widow: dark powers
Sirocco: electric powers
Mako: car powers? golf powers? heh
Black Scorpion: shadow powers

[/ QUOTE ]

No...that's referring the story-content. Not the powers.

LOL.

Anyway, it's been confirmed that Scirocco will give out Mu-type electric powers and Mako will give out Coralax-type powers.

I'm going to agree with Revolver Law, hard numbers mean nothing in this case. We can change every other power pool, and heroes can change epics, so it makes no sense for villains to be unable to do the same. The CoV side of things is already unappealing to me, and this only gives me less motivation to keep playing my villains.

Positron, he is the BIG DIFFERENCE and BIG PROBLEM:

Name, Primary Powerset, Secondary Powerset, Body Type and Origin are decided at character creation. They cannot be changed, but if you feel they should, you can just delete the character and recreate them (aka, re-rolling).

Now, with Patron Powers (assumingly unlocked at Level 40+), you are capable of doing that, but you have to do all the levels ALL OVER again with a character that you liked a lot until this point.

I must say, congrats on making this thread the whiniest, most argumentive thread since capes were announced as being unlocked at 20.

The people yelling at Awry because of grammer... the people freaking out about powers we don't even know about yet... the people like Revolver here screaming their heads off about their opinion and then stomping their feet when people disagree with their off-the-mark first reactions.

It's exactly like people flipping out about capes. Or flipping out at the thought of having to hit level 50 to unlock Kheldians.

You would think that some of the people in this thread would learn to have patience and see how things actually pan out instead of acting like a 3 year old at the drop of some preview info.

You would be wrong, though.
