Minkey! Grats on getting your name back, I heard that much over the grapevine.
In that case, I'll definitely hit your website and apply. Power customization was actually what pushed me to renew as I deliberated about it. We only whined for it for what, 15 issues? :P -
For some reason I just keep wandering back to old CoX. This time, I'm actually going to give it a fair shot with the knowledge the PvP is dead and hop back into the PvE aspect that grabbed me in the first place. So...
1) Anyone out there remember me?
2) LF Supergroup. -

Honestly Posi, it doesn't matter the reason - you guys dropped the ball on this one, plain and simple.

I'm going to reserve judgement until I see how it plays. Giving the hard numbers sounds like a very good move.

I'm going to agree with Revolver Law, hard numbers mean nothing in this case. We can change every other power pool, and heroes can change epics, so it makes no sense for villains to be unable to do the same. The CoV side of things is already unappealing to me, and this only gives me less motivation to keep playing my villains. -
You're tempting me to make a fire wire costume on Napalm when she hits 40.

I've gotta hand it to Northwynd as well. Not only is he the rock countless SC teams have been built on, but I've never once seen him utter a bad word in broadcast.
VuDu has been a friend of mine since the Hami raiding days, and it's always cool to see her bringing heroes and villains together in SC.
Drac is a cuddly, wuddly teddy bear and everyone should give him a big hug.
Hidden alwayas gives me a good laugh, and is probably the first to fall for Selenia's feminine charms, ie disemboweling people with her bare hands.
Tax for being the friend she is and for not making sarcastic remarks when I go on my "This is how you stalk" rants in SC broadcast.
And I have to give it up for all the SC regulars: Aramis, Sacred Chaos, Rip the Jacker, Anti-Skunk, Wicked Vision, Mrs. Wonderful, and everyone else I forgot because it's too early for me to be typing. -

Heh, haven't been in this thread for a while. I'm shocked to see my name popping up here as much as it has. Guess I've finally gotten over my lone wolf complex.

I'll call you mean names on the HDS forums if that makes you feel any better.

You can feel the SG love in the room.
Anyway, I would like to give special mention to FemaleFighter. I met her a while back during one of my raids and we've become great friends. That especially showed today when I had an attack of sudden depression (been recurring for about 3 years). After I pulled myself together, FF suggested I get on voice chat with her, and we proceeded to just talk about whatever the rest of the night. She always kept the conversation happy and fun and didn't let me get down on myself. Giving someone a smile at the right time can mean everything, and today was one of those times.
Now for a few more names, which I'll just list.
Starlight - My eye in the Sky at raids (maybe YOU'LL get some of those tells now :P) and occasional teamate.
Mac Daddy B - Great PA leader and always has something intelligent or funny to say.
Jazmine - I always laugh when he says things like "Oh Sky, what's a girl to do without a big, strong regen scrapper to clear these monsters."
Icebitten - No other blaster has kicked my [censored] so hard, or controller for that matter.
Duff.Chick - My sword is in love with you.
Retro - Was a huge help at my first raid, laughed at my drunken jokes that one time, and is the best damn raid leader in the game.
Violator - Great guy and always comes to my raids between finding a good beer and a bad woman.
Monkeybutt - Who doesn't like Monkey? We've had some convos about I5, then we proved that 50s still die to the high game mobs.
Verto - Frequentely TPs my dead [censored] out of the goo and actually respects my knowledge of the regen set.
Silver Chimera - Made friends with her a while back and we're still solid teamates. She even respeced her main into a PA runner build for raids.
All right, I'm sure I'm forgetting like 500 people, and I apologize. If I forgot you, I'll make it up to you by dueling you in the arena without Integration. -

While I'm fairly new to blasting (highest blaster is 23), I figured I'd add a little here.
The most important aspect of surviving as a blaster on a team is making sure that all team members are doing their job. I'll use two teams I was on yesterday as an example. In the first group, we had an awesome tank and equally awesome support characters. We all listened to each other and did our jobs as they were supposed to be done. I only faceplanted a few times, but I'm an AoE heavy Fire blaster so that's to be expected. If I had debt, it was always gone before the end of whatever mission we were on.
The second team was not nearly as good. The tank would constantly hang back on the edge of the group even after being told to charge in and stay in. Sometimes I would have to fire my alpha with only Freezing Rain for Aggro control, and we all know how much good AoEs do against scattered mobs. I ended up logging with a bar of debt, and the knowledge that if the team doesn't have a solid leader/strategist, I need to take that role.
For soloing, I have to echo the earliar comments in the thread: ADAPT THE BATTLE TO YOUR STRENGTH! While AoE is my blaster's main strength, she also packs a huge punch in melee range with Bonesmasher and Energy Punch. I've found that if I use SS+Bonesmasher+Build Up in a jousting fashion, I can take out at least one minion or possibly a lieutenent before I'm even being shot at. I often find myself in melee range after leading into a pack with Fire Breath+Fireball, and I can usually fire off Bonesmasher at the nearest target before my last buff drops. -
As always, the choice of music is too perfect for a CoH video. I'll be watching this one every day along with the 5th Column tribute.

Enter the bitter human leader who claims there's no need for heroes. I assume bits of the Team Legacy storyline characters will somehow be tied in with these new ones, yes?
-
It certainly seems easier to me. I soloed the mission with my Regen scrapper at lvl 20 (shortly after I2) and actually died 3 times during the course of it, while my fire tanker (also level 20, post I3) just breezed through it. It wasn't just because Fire tanks are stronger at that level, it was because there were about 1/10 as many enemies in the bunker and only 2 floors.
-
Hmm, methinks that sword has some kind of magical entity within. Great chapter, but lets get to that further development of the other characters.
-
I've seen all of the Kenshin movies and the series, and I have to say you're making way too big of a deal out of a series of very common plot devices. How many animes/comics/tv shows has their been a ruthless killer gone soft? You can say that for all the others as well. Even if that is where elements of this fanfic came from, the fact that the author took a terrible anime series (Movies all the way) and made something good with parts of it makes everything all right in my mind.
-
It's chapters like this that make or break a fanfic. I love your detailed backgrounds on the characters. Great chapter.
-
Good to hear, I look forward to reading it.
-
Ok, constructive criticism time.
I saw this coming a bit earliar but didn't say anything. I see this fanfic taking a turn in the "One Uber Hero" direction. As its gone on, everyone seems to be getting more useless except for Ken. The Spine Brothers were one thing, but Kill Strike just wiped the floor with all of Team Legacy with no effort at all. I've liked pretty much everything up to this chapter, but the idea of only one of the heros really being able to do anything is something I've that made me dislike a lot of shows and/or comics in the past. It's one thing to have a key team member, but it's another thing to have one member being the whole team and more. -
Daisy reminds me of me in this episode, as I tend to tell the absolute truth when I'm drunk.
This whole fanfic contains a lot of the stuff I hope to see in the game someday, like a major event where Paragon is taken over and people get thrown together for the sake of surviving. Good work.
-
Quality writing as always. I had been wondering where Ken's group was during the last chapter.
-
Very nice, I was wondering what archetype everyone was, and the background flashbacks were awesome too. One minor thing though, when the Spine Brothers check Team Legacy's strength levels you list Michael as Invuln/SS, but then he uses Energy Punch, Whirling Hands, and Bone Smasher in combat. That'd make him an Invuln/EM tank. Overall, good job, I look forward to the next chapter.

Heh, I feel your pain, I've got finals this week and had 3 papers last week. I'll keep watching the thread.

Found this from one of your posts in another thread and I have to say I'm impressed. I'm bookmarking this thread, keep up the good work.

Faultline needs some story lovin besides the 2 paragraph origin the security chief gives you. Perhaps you could rock the area with a second earthquake that cracks the damn. Thus requiring a group of heroes to defend the construction crews while they make repairs. A little work can go a long way toward fixing the problem.

That would be awesome, like a low level Terra Volta trial with some type of big reward at the end. I know that would get me into FL.
