    I just came back a little while ago, but have been jumping back and forth between this, the PS3 and um... the other superhero MMO haha. I'm mainly waiting for Pistols set for Blasters and the Going Rogue expansion so I can play a Stalker on the hero side.

    Any plans for new toons yet?

    Good to see Liberty is still a bunch of sentimental saps.

    I definitely had some great times in HDS.

    The raids (sadly I don't remember any of the binds I had set up ), the genocide of not only wolves*, but Freakshow as well.

    The forum drama.

    The nerfs.

    The nerfs that were supposed to fix the nerfs.

    Ion owning my poor AR/Dev when PVP was first launched.

    The PvP battles in Siren's Call. Cursing Ice/Energy Blasters (are they still uber btw?), while laughing at Regen Scrappers when my Stalker got the better of them (Ninja Blade no less).

    Deleting a lvl44 character just cause he was taking up space.

    Getting the weekend head start on COV just so I could reserve names.

    My first and last AV solo.

    Missing our first successful raid cause I was at work.

    Way too many friends to attempt to name, but I'll give a shot: Pickles, Monkey, Fizzy, AA, Mommy, QJ, Ion, Tax E Girl, Antoinette, Reckage, Cryfire, Sweet Sarah, Teach, Drac-X, Skystrike, Northwynde, Bob the ______, Starlight, Mac Daddy B, BlueHeeler, Top Brass, Irish, Tortured Hero, Kimi, Steele, Gibson, Smoke Ring, PhiladelphiaPA, Stormbringer, Hans, -Fire Wire (who became surprisingly pleasant after a while), Healing Heathen, Oni, Dumok, Chris D, Foo, Darke, Shirai ...

  5. You can't compare any other MMO to World of Warcraft. WoW is an entirely different beast. Blizzard already had hardcore gamers in their pocket with Diablo and the Starcraft/Warcraft RTS games. Their fanbase was in the millions before WoW even went into beta - not to mention they own Asia.

    No amount of advertising is going to get CoX even remotely close to WoW's subscription count, even if you just count the U.S. To match or even outdo WoW, an MMO has to set out to do it from the start - ala the currently in production Warhammer 40K MMO.

    CoX is a niche game and there's nothing wrong with that. It has it's own space and for the most part keeps it's subscriptions at a steady level. It could be doing a lot worse.

    Honestly, the OP should be more concerned with the competition around the corner (Champions Online) and the competition on the horizon (DC Universe Online and the in-production Marvel Universe). The superhero MMO space is about to become very crowded.

  8. Thanks all for the birthday wishes. Goofed off a bunch now got a bunch of work to catch up on (post for my blog, finishing a web layout and creating a new one).

    Still reading up on all the changes implemented while I was gone. Looking at an Electric Melee Stalker, Radiation Blast Corruptor, or playing my PB until Dual Pistols Blasters are available.

  11. Don't know if half the people I remember are still around or even remember me - it's been a while.

    For those who do remember me... Whats up? Jumping back in the game for a while just to see whats going on. Don't know why, maybe it's the really well done Fallen/Redeemed website I get getting emails from NCSoft about. I'm a web design junkie, so it got me reading and well... here I am.

    You mean more of the same cookie cutter missions they've been adding since launch? No thanks. New content to the Devs is adding a new zone and simply copying and pasting the same missions that we've been doing in to it.

    At least with Hamidon I get something to figure out with my SG again. It's been a while.

  14. Haven't read the entire thread, but here's the easiest solution I can think of:

    1. Reinstate debt if you're killed by a drone.

    2. Put a Dampening Field around each base that extends to the range of the drones. Instead of disabling players to be TP'd out of the field (like in PvE missions), this field disables players from being TP'd into it - which prevents the TPFoe into drone technique.

    I would call Burn's change many things:

    Power alteration
    Reduced in effectiveness
    Strength modification
    Debuff to the power
    etc.

    Just because I don't use the word "nerf" does not mean things will never be adjusted in a downward direction.

    AKA a nerf.

    Semantics aside, it's all the same thing. You can call it "power alteration", "debuff to the power", etc - in the end it's still a nerf.

    On the particular subject of Burn - it was overnerfed and the Fire Armor set to this day hasn't received compensation, since the old Burn is what set it apart from other melee armor sets.
  16. Jay, there has been a Full Mask missing from the game since it went live. The mask can best be described as "Hollowman-esque". It looked like medical gauze wrapped around the head. The only part of the face that could be seen were angry looking human eyes. This mask was in the creator that was available to mess with at the 2005 Wizard World and was also available in COV beta, but has never been available since the game hit live servers.

    More likely that Cryptic thinks no-one can finish it, in the time allotted.

    But this way they get people to attempt it, and can confirm that there are no bugs along the way.

    Have to agree here. I don't think they expect anyone to be able to actually beat it simply because of the reward involved. I don't expect it to be the cakewalk a lot of people are thinking it'll be - at least I hope it's not, I'm looking forward to actually having something to figure out for a change.
  18. I wouldn't worry about it. More than likely they're trying to setup a couple runs for the Recluse SF. Friends and I plan on cracking that when it goes live - just like we did with Hami. For some reason I feel a lot of people are underestimating how hard it's going to be. Seeing as though it'll be granting Synths (that's what I'm calling them) as rewards I doubt it be the average CoX cakewalk that most of the TF/SFs have become.

    Actually, about 90% lower, assuming you're talking about the base. The Defender multiplier (the highest) is 0.125. The Controller/Corrupter multiplier is 0.100. A scale of 0.5 means that Controllers and Corrupters should be seeing a 0.5*0.100=0.05 final base debuff (5%), and Defenders should be seeing a 0.5*0.125=0.0625 (6.25%) final base debuff. The blaster multiplier is only 0.070, so Smoke Grenade from /Devices is only providing a 0.5*0.070=0.035 (3.5%) final base debuff, which is the reason why every time that I've read about it being tested it has never shown up above the statistical noise even in large samples. It's literally so small it needs special tools and large amounts of time just to detect.

    That's essentially correct.

    A 0.5 scale would be:
    Defenders = 6.25%
    Blasters = 3.5%
    Masterminds = 3.75%, etc

    A Defender with 3 SO's would be ~9.6% to hit debuff.

    So with that being said, why should Smoke Grenade count as an attack? The debuff is practically non-existant and it's ability to stack with CD is hindered greatly due to the combination of not being able to slot it with range and it's "attack" trait which surpresses the toggle that's it's supposed to be stacking with.

  22. Just tried the new animations on my lvl33 Claws/Regen - I've decided not to delete him when I7 goes live.

    The new animations fit together like a puzzle, unlike the old ones where it felt very clunky. I'm highly considering dropping Eviscerate as the animation time will definitely hurt my DPS and very rarely hit more than one or two mobs with it anyway. Instead I'll be taking Swipe.

    To the animators, I say "Good job".
  23. My beef isn't with the lack of KB protection or the lack of a self heal. The only problem I have is that there is a lack of sources to gain such protection and from most of the complaints I've read this is the underlying reason a lot of others don't like Elec not having this kind of protection.

    Manuevers is in need of a buff, maybe that's a place to start.
