How come we have no red servers yet???
All I know is that we've had a steady increase in active subscribers every month for a year. We started out with a certain amount, lost a chunk of them a few months later, and since that time we've gained active subscribers every month without fail.
Right now by population we're (IIRC) about 11th place in terms of most subscibers in an MMO, and the MMO's doing better than us are the heavyweights like Lineage 1 and 2, WoW, etc.
Armsman has a problem with our steady growth for 10 months? That's his problem, not ours.

I DO find it Interesting that Statesman always refers to MMORPGchart.com's numbers, but never the actual numbers posted by NCSoft itself where you CAN see subscrber actual hard subscription and usage number (just look at the MX-Excel spreadsheet they have - on opening it, while the tabs are in Korean; the info is tabulated and in English). My point is: The numbers ARE EASILY available to Jack and Co; yet he likes to refer to Sir Bruce's numbers, which even Sir Bruce himself admits are often speculation on his part because many games DO NOT publically publish numbers.

Where do you think SirBruce gets his numbers?
Yeesh.
What's great is that people have been saying we're ddddoooommmeeedd since launch, and yet surprisingly, here we are.

Statesman's feeling frisky today, lol.
The City of Heroes Community is a special one and I will always look fondly on my times arguing, discussing and playing with you all. Thanks and thanks to the developers for a special experience.
So, what you are saying, is that our ability to cry Doom has been somewhat nerfed by the hard cold numbers?
CatMan - some form on every server

Look at this thread. People are complaining because the servers AREN'T red/laggy/full.
You can't reverse everyone's naysaying attitude. Especially on an internet forum.

Statesman.
You do realize those numbers are from March of 2005?
They do not support any claim that COH has increased in numbers in I4 or I5 and can easily be interpreted to show a continuous loss in American players since I2.
After all the numbers ONLY go up when you released the European Market in January of 2005 and even then by less than 16,000 subscribers. Unless the European market received less then 16,000 subscribers than SirBruces numbers indicate a continuous decline in the American market since July of 2004.
Personally I had no interest in this thread but since I read the Dev forum and you have now posted 3 times here it made me curious. Rather then wave your hand at another website, which may be flawed in the information and at the VERY least has information that is long out of date, simply provide the figures. By not doing so, I must admit it, leaves one with the impression that you are being very selective on the truth of the matter. Additionally it encourages a thread to run purely on speculation and vague pieces of information thus increasing the chance of flaming, trolling and other forms of posting that I assume you don’t like.
A simple post from you such as this would settle a large portion of this debate.

Taking a close look at the data on mmorpgchart.com, they do appear to be using the same numbers from NCSoft's quarterly reports. Their last reported number was 140,481 which matches the Q1 numbers from NCSoft (March 2005, way out of date). Looking at the Q2 2005 report, we can see that the Q2 numbers were 162,922, a significant jump from the quarter before.
With the help of the Euro servers, it appears CoH had almost rebounded from it's lowest point, when WoW came out.
The Q3 numbers were just posted on the NCSoft corporate site. Apparently they did lose some subscribers. The Q3 monthly subscription number is 150,068.

Yep, here we are...sitting a blip above Toontown Online and lightyears away from WoW or Lineage. It's one thing to be happy about an early success, it's another to be complacent with that success and feel you can do whatever the heck you want to the game.
It's great that CoH was such a hit at the start. Truly. But barely maintaining your subscription numbers after releasing your fist major expansion isn't something to tout at your next Ops meeting with NCSoft as a major success.
I would personally love to see CoH/V numbers rise to the top, it means more people on to play with, more resources coming in that will hopefully be diverted into new content, which means more for me to do in game, but I don't think we are on that track. Jack get your head out of the clouds and come back to earth here. You guys have a lot to do to make this game a really big success.

Sure. Let's first make note of the fact that the # Concurrent Users stat, the one Statesman was nice enough to mention, is the ONLY one that is on the rise, and very well could have a statistical anomoly.
Aside from that we have a Drop in daily access and a Drop in Monthly Access. Hmmm....wonder why Statesman picked the Concurrent Number Stat to throw out at us?

And yet again, Jack pops up to take another popshot when I said that if after all this is said and done if the posted numbers showed CoH was groing beyond it's original 190,000 subscribers that it staeted with, I'd happily eat crow.

Ahhh - here we go - the classic "let's twist words around."
Here's what I've said - our numbers are GAINING.
Doesn't mean "more than launch." It means gaining. You'll notice in SirBruce's excellent chart that we're trending UPWARDS. Does that mean we're going to gain 50,000 players from March to April? No. Does it mean we gain 1,000? Statistically more likely. Now once we get CoV into the mix - well, that's a whole other matter.
[/ QUOTE ]
Statesman or Jack,
Armsman is not twisting your words around. He simply said that you commented on his calim to eat crow if you broke 190k. How is that twisting your words? You may want to reread what he has to say. I just read his last 2 and nowhere do I see him saying anything but facts and at one or more points he even concedes that you may know more.
"But again, the actual numbers should be available in a few months. Jack COULD BE right; but sorry, with what I'm seeing currently, I kinda doubt that the numbers will hold."
You are starting to sound a little paranoid.

I like this whole "competition" thingie you've got going, though. It's entertaining, to say the least. Maybe it needs a catch-phrase, though; y'know, to keep it current and popular?
Because Economic Competition is a Zero-Sum Game!
Those are actually pretty steady numbers neither supporting one argument or another.

Actually, if you want to know the state of the game post the projected numbers/sales/subscriptions etc. against the actual numbers. This is more in line with how you see if they are going in the direction they want to be going.
Even Statesman saying numbers are up means nothing. If projections were for a growth of 10% from point A to B and actual growth during that period is 6% then you have to say they aren't meeting expectations. The numbers also normally would take in to account games such as DDO coming out etc., as well as being adjusted for such things as a big WOW advertising push, so even though unlikely a large dip or negative membership could be factored in to the equation.
In either case saying numbers are up or down have no basis for what the actual health is of CoH from past issues and would not know the health from CoH I6/CoV until later down the road. I would also guess, but could be wrong that since CoH and Cov are seen as separate games they have two sets of numbers or at the least a formula with the 14.95 for both taken into account.
Some are legends because of their posts, others just post becoming legends in their own mind.
