The Paragon Times REALLY PO'd me today...
OOHHH NOOEESSS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Someone's gonna pay... WITH A VENGEANCE!
Totally!
I looked on my map today, and do you know what I found out? There IS no Paragon City in Rhode Island!
And then, when I told my history professor about the Nazi Invasion of America during WWII, the whole class laughed at me!
I think a certain gamemaker has been telling fibs!

They might have made up Paragon City, but this incident was real. It was on an Island off the coast of North Carolina. Virginia doesn't have an Outer Banks. (is tired)
Well, you beat me to it.
Yes. Speaking as a North Carolinian, I find it even more intriguing to wake-up today and find, suddenly and arbitrarily, that an entire island of our state and a primary faction of our history has not only been revised out of our territorial waters, but also *oh the shame of it* ceded to, of all places, Virginia.
It's enough to make me pull out the old flintlock and start heading north!
Reality Check: either someone didn't do their research OR something much more bizarre happened last halloween.

Or maybe they created something fictional, and turns out some people think it is real. Could it be possible?
Don't you love it when a valid point becomes a source of flaming ammo?
Really, unless the devs have some sort of undivulged reason for locating the island where they did, then it does seem like a silly mistake. It doesn't detract from my gameplay experience in any way, shape or form, though... so I don't really care.

Anyway,

DOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM!!!
Just to make sure I'm not mistaken: the lost colony was off NC, and the modern city is in VA, right? That may be the source of their confusion.
Yeah and jack the ripper was in 1977.

It depends on what you would call an invasion. On June 14, 1942, two German U-boats landed teams of saboteurs on Long Island and near Jacksonville, Florida. They were later caught, and six of them were executed.
Bah, the US doesn't have any real history anyway...
Who cares if it's gotten wrong sometimes... (Now Braveheart... There's some historical innacuracies for you!)
Egor.
P.S. Only joking, this isn't a serious post <Waits to see how many people don't read this far before they FLAME ON!>
Actually, while Roanoke is in modern-day North Carolina, at the time of the disappeareances, it was considered to be part of Virginia:
[ QUOTE ]
It was July 2nd. (O. S.) 1584, when the first expedisent out by Walter Raleigh. anchored in Orakoke Inlet, off the coast of that part of Florida, later given the name of Virginia, and now within the confines of North Carolina.

Also:
[ QUOTE ]
Furthermore, "Roanoke in Virginia" was how Raleigh and his contemporaries referred to Roanoke Island.
[/ QUOTE ]
And: [ QUOTE ]
The Roanoke Colony was the second English colony in the New World, after St. John's in Newfoundland. It was founded at Roanoke Island in what was then Virginia (now North Carolina, United States).
[/ QUOTE ]
So, technically you're both correct. It was in Virginia, but is currently in North Carolina.
However, many of the sites I checked, do say it was "Croatoan" (and also "C R O"), although some do, instead, say it was "Croatan." So, I suppose that's a victory for you... The shame Gilgamesh must face for missing one letter!
On a seperate note, why does every release of the Paragon Times have to be met with critizism and nit-picking? Honestly, would you rather Gilgamesh not bother at all? Even if Gilgamesh was wrong, he is human. Mistakes happen. Hell, even real newspapers make mistakes. There's really no reason to get all worked up about it.

That'd be a bit like suggesting there were historical inaccuracies in Washington's Cherry Tree story. Sure he was real, but the story isn't anyway. By the same token Wallace was real, but whether you view him as a bandit or rebel ((or anywhere in-between) is strictly a matter of who's telling the story, as most of it is largely legend.

Correct. At the time, the charter for John White's colony established it in Her Majesty's Colony of Virginia (which includes the modern-day states of North and South Carolina and the Commonwealth of Virginia).
(Disclamer: I grew up on Roanoke Island and now live near Jamestown, Virgina, so I'm very familiar with the story and legends of the Lost Colony. There are many ghost stories, for example, about Virginia Dare... )

What the HELL are you talking about??!?!?! That was a DOCUMENTARY. Brilliantly done. Verbatim about what happened. I can't believe they found actual video footage of all of that in such great detail.
I just wish the guy documenting all of this would have helped out once in awhile...but I guess if he was a true historian, he didn't want to alter any outcomes.

The Lost Colony of Roanoke settled upon Roanoke Island of the Outer Banks of NORTH CAROLINA!!! NOT VIRGINIA!!! Honestly Devs, it's not that hard. They MIGHT have gotten it confused with the name of the firstborn non-Native American child, Virginia Dare. And the single word left behind was not "Croatoa". It was, "Croatoan". Do your research, because Knowledge is power...and money is power...and time is money...and girls equal Time x Money, and Since time = money, then Girls = Power sqared...and I also saw that in an equation that girls evil equal...so Power Squared = Evil...so basically, Too much power is evil. Get it?
