Quote:WTH? I have to mate with every 10th man?!?!? I'm not that kinda guy...Hmmmm....
Deci - prefix, a defining form meaning "tenth" ie- deciliter would indicate ten liters
Mate - verb, to bring together for breeding purposes

For that very reason, I instantly remove this title from my alts asap. Not that I don't want to help...well yeah, I don't want to help. Yet.

As a Pagan, I take exception to the phrase, Season of the Witch. Pejoratives are unnecessarily inflammatory.
Nevertheless, NOTHING in movies, TV, Plays or any other media you can possibly throw at me 'frightens me'. Bores, annoys, disgusts, anxie's...yeah.
RL? I find, as the years go by, the sources of fright tend to change. No permanent answer at this time.

Quote:Same here. I don't like thinking about all that time, however heh.The pre-beta forums opened in September 2001. I've been following this game ever since. Through pre-release, betas, expansions, multiple accounts, and now free to play. 10 years of my life. I was 15 then. I'm 25 now. I've basically grown up with this game.
It's weird in a way. I was on my way to sign up to another MMORPG's website but decided to have a quick look at COH first. That quick look turned into a decade.
I regret nothing. This has been, and continues to be, an awesome IP and equally awesome game.
Just out of interest...how many other old timers are still kicking around?

Finally able to log in after running the gauntlet of password changing.

My take after seeing that female 'barbarian' nonsense:
Gotta be a snarky joke.
It dismisses decades of comic book and fantasy barbarian art in blatant deliberateness. It simply HAS to be a joke or when we all woke up this morning we found ourselves in an alien, bizarro dimension only we haven't figure it out, yet.

hmmmm.
Getting a real fantasy samurai look/essence from these shots. I like the costumes, of course...who wouldn't? I'm not sold yet on how these will play out in-game, however. I'm trying to imagine these guys wandering the corridors of Oranbega or ancient tombs---not getting the mass appeal <shrug>.
Still, the caliber of artwork/graphics is excellent.

Quote:Yeah, that /would/ be cliche. Still, with the backstory, I feel the thing would have some sort of 'creature-like ' shape to it---though probably something more primeval, eh? I like the screens I've seen from Freedom. Those suggest Hamidon has a genius level intellect though subsumed in an uber-Gaian gestalt. Really, it's Gaia (Gaios??) personifying; thus, he/she/it would manifest more advanced lifeforms, IMO.Hey, that's cool, all of that sounds fine to me except for changing it to a giant Ent or the landscape.
And it's fine that we disagree on that. I just wanted to know why.
Just my Take

Quote:Oh. Didn't know we were on opposite sides of the fence on this topic. Sorry, didn't read too much into this.I have to wonder if we're not using the word "design" to mean different things (it certainly is a vague word).
Just so David understands why I think it's great and you think it's horrible, do you not like the fact that it is a giant amoeba? Is it the colors? Is it the generally smooth, spherical nature of the Mitochondria?
I don't expect us to agree, I just want to know why you feel it was thrown together.
The overall contour lacks detail. It's basically a giant hemisphere of gelatin stuck in a giant bowl with floating ovoids. It's not an amoeba, really as amoebae are in constant motion, flowing, extending, retracting, compacting. This thing just sits there and does nothing until engaged, then just fires off energy beams. *yawn*
It would be much more interesting if it were a giant Ent-like monster or, even, the landscape, itself. And, if the attacks were more organic, like branches of lightning or methane explosions or clouds of luminous gas, etc.
Just my take.

Quote:Get rid of the original design...revamp/rupgrade it. SERIOUSLY. Not only does it /look/ dated, but it looks thrown together---like no one really cared what it looked like by the time the coding was done. Yuck.Relax--no immediate plans for primal Hamidon. And even if we were going to redo it, I'm sure the giant amoeba aspect would be retained even more than we did on the Praetorian aspects of Hamidon.
But now I'm really curious--tell us more about why you like it. Essentially all the players I talk to seem to find the art on that charcter a little too plain and static, and the posts I've seen in this thread rarely mention the original Hamidon among their favorite designs. Let us know why it's awesome. That's what this thread is all about--what resonates with you and why.
Stick it in an Oro mish and be done with it once and for all. Please.

Likes:
Mirror Spirit, Foreshadow, Ghost Widow, any Cimerora, Mako, Fusionette, Tremblor, most of the Arachnos goons, the Tsoo, Gold Brickers, Luddites, CoT, all Rularru, most Praetorian 'counterparts'. Synapse. DE (gross but good); Sky Raiders (borderline silly, but still cool); Knives of Artemis (great!); love what I'm seeing from I21 aka Freedom!
Dislikes:
Statesman: boring cliche
Manticore: absolutely hate his costume; suggest complete redo
Sister Psyche: yuck
Positron: the armor reads as 'fat', not bulky tech
BAB: cool concept, but again, the model reads 'overweight' to me
Citadel: yawn
Lord Recluse: hate the arms and fur
Rikti: always hated this look, even the 'new' look
FreakShow: maybe with higher res might look great
Seige: some reason you don't do hot looking guys (evil or otherwise)???
Hamidon: lack of imagination on this design
Kraken: see Hamidon above
Malta: boring
Carnival: really just stupid, man though I concede very creative
I could go on, but generally, I think most of my dislikes are due to low-res, dated graphics/art. I suppose it's a budget-breaker to redo ALL of the NPCs at once---but I'd seriously suggest CAREFULLY upgrading them all. Don't go radical like you did with CoT (cool costume pieces, etc, etc), but definitely keep your eye on them and redo as time/money allows.
Overall, NS, I like your artwork. Keep up the excellent work, please.

Quote:Should've anticipated this? The images that players are basing their judgments on are pictures of a screen from SDCC. This is both good and bad:
- It's good because it's allowed us to get some unsolicited feedback upon which to act, and we are acting on it.
- It's bad because we were unable to present this revamp on our own terms using appropriate screenshots and in game images.

Quote:Go with the camo pants with a single color so the boots read like REAL army boots and color the gloves either red or black. Done.Perhaps go with the Camo pants with both parts the same color to cover more boot... and ditch the blue gloves, and I am sold on this one!

Ahah. NOW the graphic design makes sense. And, other than the red monochromatic scheme, reads much better.

Got code; took 3 tries for the site to accept it; confirmed that it was added (email notification), however, I can't find it in my list of emotes ingame. No, I wasn't already logged into the game...tried it a few days later.
So, where is it stuck? In what emote category?

I spend more time on the right name than anything else. Here's my list:
Lambent: so named from mid-Beta. Fire/fire/fire/Pyronic.
Mor-Dante: my first villain heh. Claws/EA/forgetwhichincarnate
Earth-Shine: named from one of my fav. Rush Songs: Katana/SR scrapper
Garrison: Dual Blades/WP; a 'magick' robot. Golem I guess.
Arbiter Calibre: VEAT Wolf; hmmm, now I know what his new costume is.
And others.

This set reminds me of something from Kirby's New Gods or Eternals! Absolutely LUV it all.
And Beam Guns, too?
Wow.
