  1. PFF will be overpowered if it stays the way it is right now, especially with the new buff coming. I'm positive the new buff will repay that missing PFF ten-fold.

    2. We'll be putting in a check that prevents "one shotting"; if anything occurs within a fraction of second that brings a player from 100% Hit Points down to 0, we instead give the player 1% Hit Points.

However, notice, it does indeed say 100%. Which means if a player has 99.9 % of his health.

Speaking of, I am now going to take a level 1 with me when I PvP just so I can get them to brawl the guy once and then I come in with Assassin Strike and BAM! He just got slayed.

Can you explain why you think that? What's so special about capes?

    [/ QUOTE ]
Ever fly/run/jump/teleport to Atlas park only to be ambushed with bushel-loads of lag because they're's so many people there? Imagine how it would be if every one of them was wearing a trenchcoat (which is more than likely a heavier graphic than capes)
  5. I am 100% positive the trench coats, like capes, will be available only to those 20+ (Depending on how much the lag potential is, maybe even higher).
  6. I think you guys missed my post (especially you genericcleric ) If you want to see it out of the Eye-Hurting Quote Box, then just go to the end of Page 32.

The only solution I can see to Defiance would be to replace it with something more defensive based. When Blasters are <50% then we do not want to risk debt just to defeat a few mobs for a "chance" of surviving. As you can clearly see in any situation, once we get below 50% the risk of fighting off those minions is not worth their xp and inf reward. Statesman always talks about Risk vs. Reward type things, and Defiance clearly doesn't sum up to Risk Vs. Reward.

When a Blaster has 10 minions attacking him, he has 2 options. Try to take them all down with more than likely less than a chance of a coin flip of beating them all for 3000 total xp, with a risk of dying that gives him 100000 debt. See the problem here? The risk of dying with Defiance is NOT worth the reward. What I would suggest is something I made called Fortitude:

    Fortitude for Blasters
    for·ti·tude: (fôrt-td, -tyd)
    n.
    1. Strength of mind that allows one to endure pain or adversity with courage
    2. A new auto-power that could be in City of Heroes that is the possible solution to the Blaster's Defiance problem

Fortitude is the real comic-book feel of how a Blaster would really like to feel “when all the chips are down, you dig down deep and find a hidden reserve of power, enabling you to triumph over adversity.” It even says this in the definition of Fortitude! The definition of Fortitude itself explains how Blasters need to dig deep in themselves. Also, the quote I just mentioned was from the Devs Themselves!. This will be most advantageous to heroes of the Archetype, who Cryptic developers found were most often defeated when they are about to defeat their foes.

So how will it work? When a Blaster’s health drops below 40%, they will begin to see an increase in their defence and protection from status-altering powers. A small increase at first, but the lower their health gets, the bigger the increase will become. This will significantly help Blasters who constantly find themselves on the losing end of battles against superior numbers. Now, the increase in these two areas will level the playing field and give them the edge they have been wanting for quite some time.

Of course, in order to get this edge, damage must be taken. This means that a player risks accumulating debt in order to get their damage buff. The reward for Defiance however was NOT worth it. Sure, you get 500% power and that might seem cool. However, when a Blaster got below 40%, there are only 3 options he has. Stay there and have a small chance at gaining the small amount of XP, find a way to get himself healed, or run. Naturally, Blasters would usually run. How is this comic bookish? The only solution would be to give Blasters 2 options that were equally weighed out with Fortitude. Stay and fight with higher defences and higher status protection, or run and withstand the fire being thrown at you for your strategic retreat.

The gameplay for this is both simple and complex. A solo Blaster will find that by keeping his health in the Fortitude range, he will become more powerful and defeat foes without dying quickly, but he must manage his aggro very well. Getting too many attackers on him can spell certain doom for a Fortituding Blaster. A good solo Blaster will carry lots of small Health inspirations for emergency situations where it looks like he is about to be defeated. These will increase Health enough so that he won’t get defeated, but not so much that he won’t have to “work” at getting back into Fortifuding range.

A grouped Blaster can use Defiance even more effectively. When all looks hopeless, the Blaster is given two choices. Deal with the opponents with higher defence and status protection, or run.

Hope you like it! I am sending this to Positron and Statesman by the way!

EDIT: Oh, and I know Fortitude is a power in the Empathy set...I just think that it fits the Blasters inherit-power TOO WELL to pass up.

P.S.S. Oh, one more thing. This means that you can't be perm-held to death. It would make more sense. Tanks and Scrappers have their armor for protections from being held, Defenders and Controllers (along with controlling before being controlled) have their buffs, and at this point...Blasters have nothing. Imagine being perm-held until 30% health when you reach deep inside yourself and break free and beat the !@#$ out of the one holding you. Truly Comicbook worthy...

P.S.S.S. Argh! one more thing!!! Ok, this would also give us a reason behind our melee attacks. When a foe is beating on you up close while you are mezzed, you can break out at around 30% and give him the !@# whooping of his life! THINK ABOUT IT!!!

  8. Manticore

Where do you see the storyline for CoH/CoV in exactly one year from now (as in # new villain groups, new zones, PCs affecting gameplay, etc.)
    Thanks!

  9. This set has already been nerfed big-time. This mention does not have any targetted AoEs (only cones). Not to mention Howl sucks. How is this set overpowered? Try playing a Fire Blaster up to 10 and then a Sonic Blaster, and watch how much faster the Fire Blaster goes.
  10. Overall, I think the Fire Primary is even more overpowered than Sonic. I just like Sonic because it's new, I've wanted it since I've started playing for my hero Kraze (had his name reserved on Virtue for a LONG time in hope that we'd get a Sonic set), and...that's it.
  11. That's good. I honestly don't think it's very overpowered.
  12. If they do nerf the cap of the effect of sonics, it will have to be still, somewhat high. If the cap is too low, then Sonics won't be able to fight in higher levels because smashing damage is easily resisted, which is roughly 50% of this powers damage output.
  13. Where did my one star go!!! Now There's 2!! What, are stars a-sexual now!?
  14. The only reason I even made this board was to get my 1 star back.
  15. They might have made up Paragon City, but this incident was real. It was on an Island off the coast of North Carolina. Virginia doesn't have an Outer Banks. (is tired)
  16. The Lost Colony of Roanoke settled upon Roanoke Island of the Outer Banks of NORTH CAROLINA!!! NOT VIRGINIA!!! Honestly Devs, it's not that hard. They MIGHT have gotten it confused with the name of the firstborn non-Native American child, Virginia Dare. And the single word left behind was not "Croatoa". It was, "Croatoan". Do your research, because Knowledge is power...and money is power...and time is money...and girls equal Time x Money, and Since time = money, then Girls = Power sqared...and I also saw that in an equation that girls evil equal...so Power Squared = Evil...so basically, Too much power is evil. Get it?
  17. Some Kind of Plant Control
    A Gadgets primary for scrappers
    Electricity control
    Electricity defense
    Water
    Electricity melee (soooo badass)
    Energy control

And I would like some animations for the SR reflex scrappers when shots miss. Instead of them just looking like they normally dodge an attack, possibly move their bodies around like the whole Matrix movie.
  18. Here's what I have for my character's beginning storyline...

he waas once a normal man of Paragon City. His name was Thomas Fawlrie (Fool-Ree). His wife, Fiona; His daughter, Sara; and his son, Daniel were out on a typical family picnic, until that fateful moment happened...

The Vahzilok came out of nowhere and kidnapped him, along with the rest of his family. Each of them were placed into one small bodybag that had obviously already been used to carry the bleeding carcus of another. It was unbearable to look at, and smell. It was too cramped in there for all four of them, so they all had to curl up in little balls. The two children and the wife cried all the way into the sewers. Tom just stared into an empty space.

One by one, the Vahzilok did "surgery" on each of the family members, first up were the two children. They were slowly and painfully ripped of their organs, with the parents watching. Then came Fiona, with her husband watching every traumatic moment with her in front of him. It was too much to bear, the fear literally drove poor Thomas insane.

With minutes to spare before Thomas' operation, a hero barged in and took out each of the Vahzilok. After the hero was done taking them down, without even noticing the 3 dead family members, he said, "Sorry about the hold-up. Could have been here about an hour earlier (the operation started 45 minutes earlier) but I had to stop a clockwork attack on some of the major political figures." This one statement tore poor Tom to pieces. If he had shown up earlier, just one hour earlier, his family could have been saved. Everything in Tom's world came crashing down.

The hero noticed the 3 dead family members and had a sigh of failure on his face, but not a sigh of pity that they died. The hero then untied Tom and said, "Well, at least I saved you, right?" This almost detroyed Tom. Without thinking he went to one of the Vahzilok, took his axe, and ripped the hero to pieces.

No normal man could have done it so harshly, because with 3 quick swipes, the hero was gone. Tom had even taken the liberty of removing his mediporter, and left the hero there for dead. He then got up and walked slowly to the exit of the sewers with a weird sort of smile on his face. Tom had truly been driven insane.

When he emerged from the sewers, a group of heroes were standing in front of him. One of them looked at Tom and all the blood on him. She asked, "Wheres Jetstream?" All Tom said with a smile on his face was, "He didn't make it." Suddenly each Hero, one by one, fell to the ground and started sobbing and comforting eachother. Tom walked home.

Tom sat in front of his TV for the next few days. He stopped going to work ,without notice, and rejected his personal hygene completely. A news report on TV said that a great hero known as Jetstream had died earlier that week, but had saved some of the dedicated political heroes previously that day. The TV Newscaster then did something that he would soon regret, he gave the names of the politicians.

Without thinking or caring, Thomas got up, went to his kitchen drawer and picked up a butcher knife, and hunted each of the political figures. One by one, he secretly murdered each of them with the skill of a professional assassin. It could almost not been done any cleaner or carefully...almost.

When he finished off the final politician, his secratary had walked in and looked at her dead boss. Tom was just standing over him with a bloody knife, gazing into an empty void. The secretary snuck out and called the police. They showed up 2 minutes later and arrested Tom without any resistance.

At court they were able to link him to the crimes of 4 other politicians and he was sentenced to 5 life sentences at the Ziggurat. He did not plead insanity, and did not seem to care that his entire life had been taken away from him. He went to the Ziggurat without resistance.

He stayed at the Ziggurat for one year without so much as a peep. He ate, drank, stared, and slept. That's all he did, until Recluse's men broke him out. He was broken out without resistance from him to the minions. He was then taken up to Recluse himself, and Recluse, somehow knowing everything that happened to Tom, was able to tell him something that would make him despise heroes. This is what he said:

Hello Tom Fawlrie, I know of what happened to your family. And I know of how that "Hero" showed up too late to save your family. That's what all heroes are like. Selfish, worthless, procrastinating! Join me Tom Fawlrie, for the heroes are the ones you are against. Don't waste your life like so many before you!" And Tom's response was, "Who is this Tom Fawlrie that you speak of? I am Tom Foolery. And I do agree with you on one matter however, those heroes must... he heHEHEHAHAHAHAH...PAAAAYYY!!!"
  19. Ravenstorm is watching this post RIGHT NOW!!!
  20. I can see you reading this MANTICORE, yes, I can see through the computer screen into your eyes reading this post RIGHT NOW! Doesn't it give you goosebumps?
  21. Unless it was statesman, it does not even matter.
  22. Naturaul heroes would retreat because if they get taken out, they will not go to the hospital. They will be killed and left there on the ground. Some may call that being a coward, but senseless death is just stupidity.
  23. Are you KIDDING me!? What do you think being a hero is!? Do you think being a Superhero is like walking through a field of dandelions?! Being a hero has its ups and downs. It's a live by the sword die by the sword kind of life. I'm telling you, it is a GREAT storyline that is addicting because instead of wondering, "Who is going to get defeated this issue" you wonder, "I wonder what hero will be leaving for good this issue." They thought of a very addictive story line with I give them a good round of applause for!

As I said in my previous post, the true essence of a villain is making the hero believe what you want him to believe, thus having complete control over him...or her...anyways, Recluse is making us believe what he wants us to and will suddenly make it so that Killer Mimes are entering...or is that what he wants you to think?
