Boycott NCSoft

Quite simply, Boycott NCSoft. Don't buy their products. They're killing City of Heroes for no apparent reason, and pretty much giving the finger to a large group of customers. I think if they're gonna flip us off, we should do the same right back. Cancel any NCSoft Subscriptions, and get your friends to do so, too. Perhaps if enough people pitch in, they'll hear us and give us back our game.

I'm gonna be the first to pledge to do so. NCSoft will receive no more money from me unless City of Heroes and Paragon Studios survives.

If Masterminds didn't suck, they'd be the most powerful AT in the game.

I agree completly

heck I added in Cryptic/PW in there too since they are most likely involved in this debacle.

Boycott Ncsoft if they close down Coh.

As I said in another thread, based on what I know about their recent history, I'm fairly certain they're going to collapse in on themselves without us having to help them along.

That said... no, I'm not gonna give them a single cent more, after my CoH sub gets cancelled.

Yep, no GW2 for me. Or any other game by NCSoft. And if Cryptic/PW had anything to do with this, then they get the boycott from me too. (though that is a bit of a shallow threat as I don't like their games anyways!). NCSoft, hope this decision bites you right in the butt and soon.

I place this curse on NCSoft, Going forward any game that carries the NCSoft label will be forever doomed to failure in every way possible.

I'll throw my effort into this as well. Everyone I know, all my friends, all the people who consult me for gaming and PC fixes/upgrades, all the gamers in my massive family, all the online communities I frequent...all of these will know that NCSoft isn't worth the time it takes to type the name. Worse than EA. Literally Hitler. Okay, that's hyperbole, but you get the idea.

Don't touch NCSoft with a ten foot pole.

NCSoft will be getting no more of my money and my GW2 purchase was halted the day of the announcement. I'm a loyal and very profitable customer. I hope to return to giving them all of my money, should CoH survive.

Improve'd!

Plus, I agree.

No, Boycott ATARI.

Atari holds the license to the City of Heroes engine. Contract expires, Atari refuses to negotiate with NCSoft, NCSoft is forced to shut down Paragon Studios.

ATARI decided it would make more money from us as new subscribers to their games than from an ongoing license to a competitor's game.

I agree. It's one thing to need to put a game to pasture and close it down, it's quite another to advertise new issues, and release new power sets such as Nature Affinity, which customers have to purchase, ten days before you announce a closing of the servers.

Even without a call to boycott, I simply don't trust NC-soft enough to purchase future products.

I find the speculation that Cryptic/PW was involved to be very unlikely. As for NCSoft -

I'm angry. I'm really angry. Just like I'm angry at Syfy for cancelling Eureka after 5 seasons.

But... without Syfy, there would have been no 5 seasons of Eureka I enjoyed. And without NCSoft, there would have been no 8 years of City of Heroes. If, 8 years ago, NCSoft had said "OK, we're gonna publish this game for 8 year, you can have 8 years of enjoyment from it but you won't get any more" would you have given up the time you have had because you knew it would end?

I'm angry, both about the loss of the game I love and the treatment of the people at Paragon Studios I've come to respect. What I hear in the upcoming weeks about the story about why it happened and the way the shutdown is handled will affect that anger. I'm not going to make a blood oath now, though.

Do you have a source for this?

My first thought was F%#$ NC Soft, then I realized I got my money's worth. I have no desire to play any product from them but this one. So they'll not anything from me anyways. I just get the feeling that this entire closure is a pointless move that only makes them look bad.

So I don't have to boycott them, this is the only game of theirs I play. When it goes, I go with it.

Pretty much goes without saying. And not just for closing the game in general, but the abruptness of it. Yanking the rug out from under the dev team like they did is nothing short of bull@#$%. NCSoft has shown us they don't give a damn about us or their employees. So, @#$% you, NCSoft.

Short NCSoft stock now... Profit

I wil never buy another NC Soft product - even with they come out with COH2.

Ha. I'm going to do worse than boycott them. I'll be playing Aion.

...And I'll never buy anything from the Aion store. Which is Aion's sole source of income.

Done. NCSoft is dead to me. I don't care what kind of game it is.....I'll not pay for it. Hell, even if it's free I won't install it on my computer.

Ditto Perfect World and any other game company associated with NCSoft.
What they just did today shattered any loyalty I felt for them.

To be fair, this was the ONLY NCSoft product I Every pushed money towards as it was the Only one that held my interest both in game and community!

Naw, they own the Boy Sprouts who control the Fast Food restaurants.

And I for one am not going up against the Fast Food restaurants.

It was said in another thread that Cryptic jacked up the price for license renewal for the engine up so high that NCSoft was unwilling to pay it. Venting at Cryptic would be the appropriate thing. It wasn't a Paragon conspiracy. It was a corporate shanking.

If the Vikings were around today, they would probably be amazed at how much glow-in-the-dark stuff we have, and how we take so much of it for granted.

I will not boycott NCSoft. Nor will I direct my ire at Cryptic.

I will do something much, much crueler.

Though it will take years to do so, I will use my creative genius to make games.

These games will carry with them the spirit of the CoX community.

And in the end, we will have our vengeance.

I don't blame Arenanet, and I'll still play the first Guild Wars. Might buy the second with all the money I save not buying Paragon points.

I am not happy with NCSoft, but I don't want to spite Arenanet.
