I run linux exclusively, so anything I try in the future will have to run under the wine emulator or involve rebooting into an old copy of windows (which I know I won't bother with). As far as I can tell, CoH, World of Warcraft, and Guild Wars are the only MMOs that run reasonably well under wine.

I'm permanently burned out on WoW, and never liked GW. So, I guess I'm stuck with single-player games. Dungeon Crawl runs native on anything.

Maybe I'll reverse-engineer the CoX server code and start a free server project... Yeah, probably not.

Well this sucks. Not sure just what I'll do now. Maybe Path of Exile. it's going gold soon. There just aren't any other MMOs that have appealed to me the way CoX has. I've been here since Beta. Ive got a huge amount of time invested. I hope they at least play us out. We deserve the chance to say Goodbye.

Good Luck and God Speed to the Dev team. You guys are the best and you'll be a Credit to whatever company you land with.

I've got a lifetime sub to Champions (worst purchase I ever made, in hindsight) so I might give that another try, but otherwise I'll be sticking to single player games for a while. There just aren't any other MMOs out there that really appeal to me now...

Guys the only MMO I can turn to after COX closes will be... real life.

I've tried the other mmo's and they are fun in ways, but not the same. So, after growing mole-like eyes from so much COX gameplay, here I go (opens the doors, blinks rapidly and gasps at the splendor of the sun! Haven't seen you in 7 years, pal! How ya doin? Stops staring at the sun after the eyes hurt some.

Farewell to you all in COX. It was a lot of fun.

Might dabble in WoW.

Really, I have no idea where to go. If anyone knows a good MMO they could recomend me to? Or maybe one with a good RP community?

I can't decide.

I tried Champions and couldn't get out of the tutorial area - as in didn't like it and literally, couldn't figure it out.

I have a LotRO account, fun game but just couldn't stick with it.

I've always liked the concepts of The Secret World, but not sure I want to plop down money "sight unseen".

SW:TOR at least has a free option to test drive it and goes F2P in a couple of months.

I hear good things about GW2, but also no test drive option.

City of Heroes was my first MMO, & my favorite computer game.

I'll probably head back to LOTRO. Time to level up the Elfies, yobbits, and those abominations we call dwarves. Oh... and humans... forgot about humans. =D

Bye all, it was more fun the last years than the first time I found out what a magnifier + sun did to insects.

I've got quite a few console and pc games that I haven't finished. Any free time I had to play a game pretty much went to CoH.

While I enjoy a solo romp in such games, CoH is (was ) a great place to chat with people, to team up with and play game content with.

I've lost count how many times I've helpled out others with their missions by either switching a character or sidekicking / exemplaring with them.

I can't stand loot / gear grind fests like WoW and won't play that or any game like it again.

I had considered GW2 as it allows you to solo quite a bit and has that dynamic teaming for spontaneous events which seemed really intriguing as level apparently doesn't matter much for those things. But this move by NCSoft has left sour / bitter taste in my mouth.

Honestly? I might become transient for the forseeable future.

I guess I might try being a gold member in STO, but there's really not much new for me there as far as content goes. Neverwinter, perhaps? I was interested in Wildstar, but today's news has left me with a really nasty taste in my mouth when it comes to NCSoft. I know the Wildstar team isn't responsible, but it just wouldn't ... feel right, y'know? I might give TSW a chance, but I'm not really sold on it yet.

So yeah, I might be done with MMOs for a while.

Gonna have to copy all of my toons, and outfits, and powers, and color and try to recreate them somewhere else, unless a CoH 2 comes out :P

I have been distracted by The Secret World since I picked it up a couple of weeks after its launch.

It's part typical MMO, and part 'holy hell WHAT IS THIS oh oh oh I'm in love'. (Investigation missions that require you to think. In today's gaming culture, the 'thinking' part seems to have generally fallen by the wayside.)

It's currently got a 3 day trial (extendable to 5 days if you complete enough missions), so if you're moderately interested in Real World-ish locations, mythology, cover-ups, conspiracies, horror (reminiscent of Cthulhu), a bit of magic, and something that's not as rigid on level & class, check it out.

Plus, at least I have faith that Funcom won't shutter it, because look at Anarchy Online still going...

Other than that, I'm a gaming junkie. I'll be picking up all sorts of single player games. What I won't be doing is purchasing any NCSoft games. Ever.

The only other thing I have to do involves this game. I have to park my characters in all their favorite spots. Boy, that's gonna take a long time.

I play TOR and enjoy it, but to replace CoH (not that anything ever really can) it'll probably be CO. The game had problems at first, but it's improved a lot.

Where ever I go, I plan to go with the friends I've made here. I think we all agree it's important to stay together.

Meh. I am subbed over at Champions, guess I will play that more often. I have GW2, but I regret that now. I've been meaning to give The Secret World a shot. I don't know. This whole thing has me depressed. There are NO other games where I can have my own personal army.

STO, but I mean, everything is a pale shadow next to CoH.

Playing a game full of Trek fans is geek heaven and there are very few bad apples. The devs are pretty awesome. they don't reach out as much as they used to, but that's a perfect world thing, and there's still a lot of communication compared to most MMOs.

I've been switching back and forth between City and CO for ages. Guess CO will pick up the slack.

Wildstar looked interesting but like a lot of people, I will never spend money on a NCSoft product again. They've lost a customer.

TSW looks interesting but it won't run on my machine. Tried it during open beta, no go.

I was thinking of going back to WoW at least for a month or two when Pandaria launched. Perhaps WoW will get the suddenly-available money in my gaming budget.

Yeah, might have to give the Mist changes a shot now.

Probably (very) grudgingly to CO (which means getting a PC or dual boot my hacknitosh for PC since CO doesn't have a mac port) to get my hero fix since I don't like fantasy MMO's (i.e WOW). And NCSoft was PO'd me by this to never try Wildstar (or any other NCSoft game).

(sigh) Still I wish I didn't have to.

Question: Where are you going?
Answer: South Korea

On a more serious note, I'll probably try DCUO. Don't really like DC, but CO is crap, Star Wars and Trek are too limited and World of Grindcraft...hmm, maybe I can get the name Snaptooth for a Goblin. But I doubt I could really enjoy it, not after playing CoH.

I've had an STO account (free) for awhile, didn't play it much as i MUCH prefered this game, (even most of my console games) so i may play that a bit more. There is always CO or DCUO for superhero action if it's really needed, but can't say I'm impressed by DCUO and heard more not so good things than good things for CO.

Thanks to everyone that helped make me a welcomed part of the community, and for giving me over 3 years of some of the best gaming I've been able to take part in. May the next game bring many friendships and maybe reconnect to some old CoH friends.

Probably wow, or just give up on mmo's

Maybe sign up for gamefly or something, catch up on mass effect.

Boycott Ncsoft if they close down Coh.

I actually enjoy Champions online, but only as a freeform. I wasn't impressed by DCUO either, just didn't do anything for me.
