  1. For that amount of money I'd buy some stocks, and on the day we celebrated that we had enough for some serious shareholder influence, I'd sell mine off before the value dropped dramatically due to reality setting in for the other shareholders.

    So I guess I'm saying... let's do eeet! =D

Restructure it so that it's a $5 sub?

The idea of adding a tier is a thought, say $20-25 and make it that all new/purchasable costume and power sets are free? Or increased Paragon Points per month?
I liked your $5 idea for premiums. Plus VIP subscribers got 400 paragon points and it took 2 months to get a new power set. More points for VIP's so a power set a month was purchasable (or other lootz) would have been nice.

I still feel like this thread is 6 months too late tho. Farewell everyone, it was a good time.
  3. The rich keep getting richer and the poor... no that's right, we're all going to be equalized soon with 0 moneys. This is equality at its best. The pro football players of Paragon and the homeless man will be equal.

You guys are adding silver linings to the storm clouds.

I'll miss you guys. If it was legal I'd adopt all of the COX fanbase. Be your dad. You'd all by my kids.

Very well put. I rarely ever met people who had played COX. I was usually the one doing the sales pitches to friends, family, and neighbors.
  5. It may sound stupid but I deleted each of mine. I had to, personally, for closure. Was choked up as I thought about each one, the idea behind each, and people I had played with during different tfs, etc.

I thought I'd play until November, but for me it was best to delete them. I'll check in on forums until then.

  7. Guys and gals,
As we prepare to protect Paragon city for the last time in November, what is the name of 1-3 of your favorite toons and what do they mean to you?

Master Don King: Thugs/Dark mastermind. He looked so much like Don, with a big grin, the hair. I picked two of the personal attacks because I loved seeing that smiling, Don King, shooting duel pistols. I had a macro "Stick with me, I'm going to make you a star!"

Enraged Ratwoman: My favorite creative design, she was a bluish-gray skinned rat. I made 6 versions of her and always thought she looked very comic book for a rat woman. I found there were 2 hairstyles that covered her human ears, so the rat ears on top of her head looked like her actual ears. Even experimental hybrid lab rat/humans can escape the lab and be a hero in Paragon.

Fire Kindergartener I loved the pun and made my toon as tiny as they get, with kid appearance. It was soon before rogue, and a well IO'ed toon. I partly thought of this toon after seeing a kid toon once that was a surprisingly tough invincibility tanker who did a great job tanking for our team. We waited 10 minutes for the tank on a tough mish and the tank ran immediately into the first two mobs after entering the mish, surviving and calling us to help kill. In Paragon, even the tiny can be tough defenders of good.

I deleted all my toons, as it gave me a sense of closure. People who don't understand COH won't understand our postings.
  8. Farewell.
It's so weird to think of having no more scrapper play soon.
My first 50 was a spines/regen scrapper on Justice, before I relocated to Freedom for teaming.
Scrappers are always nice to have at least a couple of on teams.

    I remember....

I remember the Dark Astoria bug that made it Clear Astoria. It was cool to see, once, small and clear skied.

I remember griping about clicking 6 toggles whenever I was stunned, as well as the extra long and rooting (I think?) of the leadership toggles.
The day they left it so defensive toggles stay toggled I wanted to hug a developer. My monitor received the affection they all deserved.

I remember being afraid to stop in pvp zones, because I'd hear the pre AS noise, and die 2 hits later.

I remembered trying to figure out base building and what I was supposed to do with dozens of base salvage items. And I remember "flooding" half my base when a forums person showed how to make a "water room." It was sooo cool looking. Had waterfalls, floating objects, bridges, etc.

Someone mentioned it, but I was on the first team to successfully take out a beta Rikti invasion drop ship. I was sooooo excited. I felt like we saved real mommas and bebehs. But alas, the starving bebehs in real life continued to starve.

I'll miss you people and the shenanigans you get into.

I remember losing my first respec tf when a bud and I (both sk'ed) lost our mentors and failed to survive against waves of purple enemies that I could have sworn local chatted stuff like, "NoObSaUce!" and "TK'ed in SC much?"

I remember the first time I entered the shadow shard, being mesmerized by the place. I followed the cascades from the top of the red river to the bottom and thought, "I want more mishes in this zone, and events. This is too cool."

I remember learning about E.D. (no not erectile... smack you crazy new players) the hard way when my scrapper's enhancement slotting suddenly didn't work well. I male pms'ed about it for 2 weeks then got used to the new system.

    Final net worth.

Well, I deleted my chars so not sure about my final net worth. But you guys know, all the posts in the past about inflation, farming shouldn't be allowed because it "raised prices," etc. people can rest assured that the inflation issue will be a thing of the past shortly.

  13. They corrected almost all of their "mistakes" imo. This game still has many of the traits that must be in future MMO's if future mmo developer monkeys want me to keep throwing them my hard earned bananas. For example: any of those mmos I consider must have a decent community or encourage teamplay like COX or I'm keeping my bananas. Those solo-only or 2 member team mmo's are just not fun for me.

I found COX exceptionally enjoyable, especially the extreme variety of primary and secondary powersets that could be used so many ways to benefit the team.

When the enemies melted like sticks of butter, the vets in the game knew why. You see the rads, sonics, darks, ice, etc doing their thing for the sake of the team. Even the stepkids, the TA's, they did their job, too.

    Farewall all.

  14. I thought the blue caves made the other maps more enjoyable. The first few times in the cave I thought they were interesting, especially that cave with the large 3 or 4 story arena shaped room in the back.

I won't miss being on teams with MM's and caves. I played all types including mm's just saying it was awful being crammed in with them. I remember using gang war and apologizing profusely to my team. (I secretly laughed at the pile'o people, too) XD

    Bye all it was fun.

    Where to now?

I may try out GW2 soon. Might try champions again, but first time I found it boring and came back to COH the next day.

Maybe LOTRO again. Those elf ladies...

    COH Memories

I remember not liking the game much the first night when I learned the basics back in 2005. Then, something snapped in my brain when I tried the game the next morning. And here we are 7 years later.

I remember taking almost an hour trying to guide new people into the Hollows during a FrostFire mish. I remember encouraging them when they fell down the old ravines and a circle of thorns thug, quite purple, killed my teammate. You're in the Atlas hospital, don't worry, it takes less than 10 minutes to walk back if you're careful.

Then they had temporary travel powers, then fitness was included... I remember us basically mugging the old Hami on Freedom each night as Rose and others lead us, and the rest of us chatted about Chuck Norris (when those jokes were in style).

It was a lot of fun people. Farewell.

    Not Goodbye

    This was great.

One of my favorite bugs/exploits was when people realized, "oh the ouro portal, you can stand on it. That makes it an object, and plaaaaaatform!"

Later that day, in Freedom, a bunch of us were skywalking with a burning platform of ouro portals going up into the sky. You guys fixed that one pretty fast as I recall.

The first friend I ever made in this game, would take turns with me tp'ing each other to the next door mish. We eventually turned to seeing the funniest places we could tp each other. We'd tp each other into high level mobs, off cliffs, etc.

That's when I realized if I was a super hero I'd use my powers mainly to goof off, with occasional uses of it to help scouts finish a bridge over a stream or whatever. Oh and stop criminals, yip.

Farewall all of you. It was fun playing and forum posting with this monkeyunch.

  20. Man these posts make me sentimental.

COX community, let's buy a piece of land and name it Paragon. Then we can have actual leaders with the names of the in-game heroes.

After civil wars, famine, and starving babies, I'll probably return to my current house.

    But farewall you fun monkeybunch!

  21. Thank you WW, for all you and your band did for us through this game. Even when I only had 5 minutes to play I never got tired of beating on the dude tug-of-warring with a woman's purse.

I appreciated how your in-game character was always chilling, ready to train me up while people tried to rush me to re-join them for the Katie Hannon Task Force. (I know I shouldn't say I also missed the Katie Hannon Express, but was good for us to not get a new rare tf recipe every 15 minutes for maturity, sakes).

I'm looking forward to hearing where you all end up, as your community, here is biased towards Paragon Studios and want to see what future games we may join to see what creativity you all will be suppling there.

    Farewell for now.

  22. Positron, I hope you never saw my character duplicate of yours. Was in jest and that quote about imitation and flattery...

Thank-you for all you, and the entire team did for this game. I left "permenantly" 3x and came back to COX each time because I found it to be one of the most community supporting, and team encouraging MMO's out there.

It was fun, I enjoyed the game and the people. The next step can be great, years later, also.

    Farewell.

  23. I don't think boycotting is the answer. I may try GW2 soon. I played COX since 2005 and will miss the game, the many players, etc. But I hope after a few more weeks most of us will have processed the frustration of a change in our second life as we say goodbye to COX.

It was fun, I'll miss the character creation, the gameplay, and you fun monkeybunch.

  24. Thank-you guys for discussing in this thread, the first actual info. besides all the stressed, emotional responses I have seen. I enjoyed and will miss this game.
I had 2 accounts when we got the news last week, and even bought the Nature Affinity set with the sparkly power heal.

Since it seems more and more reasonable a decision they made, I have to say, In my mind the only villain behind the closing of Paragon studios and City of Heroes is... the dude who was the first in game doorsitter. The guy in Hollows who told us to "Go, Hunt. Kill skulls." I blame him.

I would like to see someone buy it, even if it was "archived" with all the current sets, mishes, etc, and no changes, but playable for us reminiscent fogies.

    Dear NCSoft...

    Wow this one was depressing.

I feel similar to you guys. I probably won't pay for another NCSoft game, but that's mainly because I was bored with Guild Wars 1 fast, and COX was the one game they have made that I really enjoyed.

8 years is a good run for an MMO. I will miss COX and miss you players I've teamed with, joked with, and spanked the old Hami with every night until he was given the games first incarnate powers =D

Take care everyone, the devs, and players alike.
