By making the offer a true gamble, it's just going to upset the community further (and from what I gleaned from the rest of this thread, it may already have). I'd certainly feel like a dope if I were to pull a single Team Inspiration only for someone else to get a free Character Slot. Uneven rewards always, always, always cause headaches and a general feeling of unfairness, especially when we're talking things with actual money value.
But here's a big pro to pre-randomizing the freebie (or heck, even pre-choosing it, which is what I thought was going to be happening): Community discussion. Let's say for instance the Friday Freebie is a free Architect Arc Slot (not that I'm nudging towards anything, or anything
). You suddenly get a significant majority of the playerbase potentially talking all at once about the Architect, new players asking how to make use of the free slot they just got, etc.I'd consider that far more impactful than the inevitable gnashing of teeth as some players get rewards that are far more useful to them than others'.

So everyone, no matter what server, account, etc..., will get the same freebie?
Also, is it account based or character based?
Just curious!

actual complaining, though. What complaints there are, are getting greatly magnified and
blown up by the jibes and out of proportion whining about complainers.
So... ENDLESS.
While I'm not one to complain about free stuff (I mean, really, people?), I'm not expecting a whole lot here; I figure the free item will be about one Super Booster card's worth. A temp power, a team inspiration, a number of reward merits, maybe an enhancement.
Otherwise, what if people already have the item being given away? I mean, a free costume piece is great and all, but if I* already have that costume item, you're going to hear about it here on the forums when I complain about both "not getting anything" and having been "ripped off" by having paid for the item in the past that everyone else got for free.
*not me specifically, just some hypothetical person I made up for this example.
FUN FACT: That burst of light when you level up is actually the effectiveness escaping from your enhancements all at once.

If I get something of no real use to me I'll just shrug it off and hope for something better next time since I it was free anyway. But some people will find a reason to complain no matter what...
(hope you didn't think I was complaining in the post you qouted - I was just pointing out an example)

Right I understood that, everyone gets the same thing, time frame issue is based on it's Five O'clock somewhere or in this case it's 24 hours friday some where.
So I'm at -5 hours from the time zone. so when will my 24 hours end and how would I know this.
Personally I think floating Friday giving each 24 hour by time zone just like we do in real life is how it should be handled My Saturday Morning at 2 am is still Friday night on the west coast. Something to think about.
Otherwise I'm all about this lets see if the plan to get me to the market will get me to spend more points.
