Discussion: Tier 9 VIP Reward - Celestial Armor Availability
Where Celestial Armor will be stored until a later date; preferably back as a T9 VIP Reward or in a Super Pack.
I'm for giving the Free and Premium players a shot at the T9 goodies by putting them on the market at the same time they are available for the vets to grab them. I feel I am being rewarded just by being able to spend my banked reward tokens to get these instead of spending real world money/points to obtain them.
I would not be able to tell just at a glance if someone was using T9 costume parts if they would be actual T9 Vets or not anyway.
Also should have included the vets that are not yet T9 in there also although vet subscribers have a way there anyway.

Well, lets say they do put it on the market in a few months. What is exactly wrong with having to wait to get them?
You know they would be available you just have to show a little patience if you don't want to use the VIP method. Let the people that did jump through the VIP hoop have their exclusive costume for a year or so before its made available to the public. I'm personally on the side that thinks they should remain a locked item for tier 9 VIP, but if they are exclusive for a year+ it would soften the blow of having to spend a decent amount of cash to get it.
With that being said, if they do decide to put the VIP costume on a tier everyone can get easily, they had better put something really good to replace it. I mean REALLLLLLLY good. Its hard to match the goodness of costume parts. To me, the best part of the game (costumes) should be one of the final rewards. If anything it makes perfect business sense. Put a highly sought after item behind a wall that can only be broken with a lot of money.

I see it more as a gap between the have and have nots rather than a waiting game. IMO if someone spent the money/points to have the items more power to them.
I just don't see it as a slap in the face as a vet if someone bought there way there from day one rather than have subscribed as long as I have.

I didnt said "give everything for 400 PP".
Im just T9 too but if Celestial is going out definitely from the T9 VIP, they should offer ways to get it. I think they should put each part of the Celestial costume set for 400 PP. Being 3 parts it would be 1200 PP. Celestial part 1, part 2 and part 3 exactly like the T9 VIP. People can buy each pack individually but not costume pieces individually. I think that is fair. |

If you want them so bad, wait for them or pay. Its that simple.
I as a tier 9 VIP whom already has Celestial armor set and the Fire/Ice set am glad to be getting a new shiney, and if they make the old sets available now after we VIP's already had it for so long ehhh no big deal. It's just like the phone commercial oh thats so 37 seconds ago or in this case thats so 12 months ago.
Dont worry tho you and I VIP's I assure you COH will get more money for those (old Sets) somehow someway.
The one thing that is for sure is that they are in buisness to make money, and thats what they are gonna do.. otherwise those people who complain about why this, and why that, and only us VIP's should get this will be the same ones saying Remember when there was this game called COH; i wish they woulda sold more costume sets, or powersets, and then we would still have a fun game to play.
Just remember WE got it first the VIP's. We got to show it off first, we got to make our costumes and parade around first. Sometime if the future they will get to go around like the cool kids and show their costume concepts with the (Old Sets) good for them, but we get to show off the (New Sets) first again!
I bought the extra points/tokens to unlock Celestial as soon as it was released. That said, it would be no skin off of my teeth if these costume pieces were released in the market, perhaps one year after their initial release. That way, other players can enjoy them, and we T9's will have a new costume set just for us to replace it.
We get exclusive use of the thing for a year before it gets made available to everyone else, and some new shinies to replace it. That's fine by me, I don't need to have my costume parts be exclusive forever in order to feel special.

I have a feeling they will reintroduce them (celestial armor) when new incarnate arcs come out and you will need to buy them with emp merits.
Makes sense to me.
Fight The Power
I have played the game on and off for bout 2.5 years before freedom came out . Im not tier 9 or even close to it , but I am VIP and I think there should be a way for others to get these . I cant afford to drop hundreds of dollars , just pay to play the game , is that not good enough ?
Some options based on what we've seen before:
Paragon Market - a costume set would go for around 400pp
Loyalty incentive for keeping a subscription active between X and Y
New "Costume Code" goodie bag handouts for attending conventions/get-togethers
Obtain via Astral/Empyrean Merits
More community contests (dev-sponsored costume contests, screenshots, real-world costume photo contest, captions, etc)
Costume Recipes (will need to unlock on a "per-character" basis)
Task Force/Trial reward (will need to unlock on a "per-character" basis)
Bundled with a new box-edition of the game (unlikely, due to Paragon Market implementation selling most such features in a piecemeal fashion)
Personally, I've seen the T9 rewards as being slightly out of reach for now, so I haven't really concerned myself with them (I just started on T8 today on one account, the other is premium having completed T7). Unless the costume sets are especially relevant to an existing character of mine (or a new concept I'm very eager to get started on), I'll probably be spending reward tokens on the repeatable rewards when I actually get to T9. I'm rather fond of enhancement boosters and super packs.
Premium accounts can't edit signatures.
Huh.
How soon? <blink, blink>

I think people should be able to earn Celestial Armor, by working at it, I rather not see this sell in Paragon Market, if this happens, everyone one will have it.
My Idea on how to Award Celestial Armor is by Astral and Empyrean merits, that way players can work hard to earn this as well the game it self won't be flooded with this costume set.

If this VIP Tier 9 exclusive costume content becomes "anybody can buy it" why on earth would I ever waste tokens on Tier 9 costumes again? Tokens are more valuable than points which I get for free anyway.... I'd buy consumable tier 8s instead.

I hope it is added to the market. Having access for it for practically a YEAR IN ADVANCE and also(possibly, I haven't done the math and we don't know what the prices would be) getting it for cheaper than the market price with tokens is good enough for me. I don't need to be a unique snowflake and it means more development dollars.
If the whole set went on the market you don't think it would cheapen the whole concept of the T9 VIP rewards?

Then more people would be happy with and have more incentive to support a game I enjoy.
And, sorry, but it's a largely crappy set. If it didn't have all that locked-in nonsense that keeps you from being able to even match one piece to another, it would be nice. But it does, so it isn't. Frankly, I'm embarrassed for the people who designed it. But I do like the wings.
That being said, it's always nice to have options. And it's better when everybody has the same options. And, yes, I've had the Celestial set for quite some time, myself. An exclusive window is more than enough reward for me. Other people having it means absolutely nothing to me except to be glad for them.

Went ahead/in the process of pulling the trigger and getting enough points to unlock Celestial for various accounts.
The official response has been too noncommittal on the future availability of the set. I expect vague statements like "We're considering different methods of making these sets available. Once we decide, we'll be sure to update everyone" when the VIP costume sets system was first announced, not prior to one of them going away for an apparent undetermined (as of the time of that statement) amount of time. I suppose it's less vague than the original statements regarding the sets, but still.
