Discussion: Featured Items at the Paragon Market - 4/10/12

oh well another week goes by I won't be buying anything.

and no, I didn't anticipate any of those sets near as much, because A) most of them were not as good, B) they were put out when they were ready (when staff has been ready for months), or in some cases sooner, and C) I haven't been wanting any of those since day one, almost 8 years ago. (don't get me wrong, I love WP and use it all the time, and will on my staff guys too, but I didn't anticipate it, I didn't care about it until I used it, and fell in love with it) and frankly some of them I still regret buying (Beam Rifle I am looking at you, and as nice as DP was, it wasn't worth praetoria, thankfully that's FINALLY almost over, more than 2 years after the fact, maybe we can start getting content that isn't poisoned by it now, not that I am holding my breath).

What makes this power far more of a sore spot is that it is being held back for reasons that don't matter to anyone other than their marketing dpt. It has been ready for months when Beast Mastery is still broken, but then Demon Summoning broke the pets AI too and that never got fixed either. MM are too much of a pain to play over all any more (I picked a mm so I could do dmg and only have to worry about healing my partner, but now you have to spam the pet controls to keep them from being morons, the petless mm looks better and better as we go), pets and npcs in general are just way to stupid for words. but as usual, I digress... (made worse by the fact that most of my toons, including my beta staff toon, are in DA and on beta, that's borked right now, so I can't load them either)

When are they going to make the rocket pack permanent as a Travel Power? Why is it still only 30 days? I would like to see this up for sale like rocket board and flying carpet.

Waiting another week for Staff Fighting won't kill us.

On the other hand, I would have loved additional character slots added to the servers so that I could take full advantage of the sale! I already have 48 characters on my server of choice and I'm debating whether or not to buy them for when (if) the boost the number that are available to be unlocked again.

Glad to see the BOTZ universal enhancements in the store finally! Wanted very badly to buy a couple of the KB protection ones in February and was rather disappointed they were not available. Unfortunately, they have appeared a little too late for what I personally wanted then (used villian/reward merits instead) but nice to know for new projects it's available now.

However, sheesh is my timing awful. Two weeks ago (or was it 3?) I bought some character slots since they were 25% off and rarely seem to go on sale as well as a couple of the war wolf charges and some of the dual resist/defense inspirations. Guess I should have waited a couple weeks, but think I'll pick up some more with these prices. For me, this is one of the best weeks the paragon market has had for stuff I want and sale prices I like so I'd like to show some support.

Also, assuming someone in marketing or development reads this, I want to give you guys money for a temp self-healing power (isn't there one in game with 10-20 charges?), a breakfree/? 5 minute dual inspiration (or longer if you want BF by itself), and, well, more temp powers in general provided the costs are in line with what you've already got on the market (holy shot gun shells, etc.). I've also been extremely patiently awaiting the dark ring mistress costume and cannot wait until we can buy it in the store!

I love reading the outrage associated with each "Featured Items" announcement. I don't really care for the market, and hardly ever buy anything from it. But I enjoy the opinions, rants, and diatribes these "featured items" stir every week.

*Opens fridge, looks around for base goodies, settles for burritos.

I was moderately excited for a second. I thought the inspirations on sale were the team inspirations. As much as it pains to admit it, those dual team inspirations are good stuff. Specially on lowbie PUG teams. At that price I would have gotten a bunch to keep just in case.

And maybe getting the War Wolf Whistle for my circus animal trainer Beast MMs for fun.

This weeks sales are excellent. I've already purchased more slots and am seriously considering some of the dual inspirations and the Warwolf Whistle. I'm just glad I didn't buy slots a few weeks ago when they were just 25% off.

I've said it before and I'll say it again. The 50% off prices are much better than the regular prices for the exhaustable items like inspirations and temp powers with charges.

$0.50 US for a 5 use temp pet power
roughly $0.35ish US for 5 dual insp

Yeah, that sounds about right for a micro transaction. I could see people blowing through their stipend on DIs and having to purchase points for the big releases like Powersets.

Oh and RAWR!!!1!1!!1 no STAFF FIGHTING... slap in the face.
