I wish they would. I can't fit a travel power into the build for my Rad/Rad Corruptor and have been relying on Ninja Run and the Rocket Board.

I could even see people being willing to pay more for it because it doesn't detoggle everything.

The question is did it leave a mark.

You're preaching to the choir. I would -kill- for another upgrade to the number of character slots we could purchase per server. 60, 72, 84... like I said in another thread Paragon would own my soul.

I doubt this will ever happen. It would result in Fly becoming obsolete.

Considering the first half this post, the irony of the second half is...delicious.

I with you on this. I would much prefer to have a permanent power instead of the tease that is the rocket pack. Maybe they are keeping it this way in order to allow more backslot items to come on board later? I guess we won't know the real reasoning anytime soon. But I am looking forward to the retro-scifi pack just to finally have a rocket pack certain of my toons. I did use this rocket pack when they were offering the free codes. But I don't find that is' worth the money to have a 30-day travel power. IMHO

You think so? I mean there are two other powers that allow for flying currently. They could just make it the same mechanic and all powers shut off while you are using the pack.

On the other hand I could see a lot of people removing fly from their builds. So I could see an argument that there would definitely be a reduction in the usage of fly if this went live. However, if it's a power you would have to pay for I really can't see where they would lose out here. They provide an extra 'fly' power and you get what you want on a toon.

Hmmmm, not seeing much of a downside for them.

Keep in mind that there is an in-game way to get this for all characters - just go to grandville or the shadow shard and buy it from the jet pack vendor for 10,000 inf. Its the same power as the one you get from the atlas park mayhem/mercy mission and lasts for 2 hours of use - which is a LONG time if you stretch it out by with ninja run, only using it when you need serious vertical movement.

10,000 inf is pennies in game and at least on redside its really easy to get to the seller in grandville, as he is in the main plaza near the trainer and the run from the ferry to the main plaza has no aggro mobs in the way. Going to the shadow shard blueside is more of a pain, but you don't have to go there right away since you can get one at L5 in a bank mission - and you get Oro at L14 so at least getting to PI is easy, even if the run from the Oro drop point to shadow shard gate isn't.

Between the jetpack vendors, the bank mission and the jetpack recipes that sell for pennies on the market (100 inf will generally buy you one) and the jump pack/steam jump vet powers there are so many ways to get a jetpack I am not surprised they haven't taken to selling permanent versions. Personally, I AM surprised that they even bother to sell the 30 day version because I can't imagine buying it, but they must have gotten sales back before freedom when it was a purchasable along with the costume packs and such or they wouldn't have put it on the paragon market.

Oh not arguing the in game ways at all. And thanks I forgot about that one in Grandville. I just hate the raptor pack. I find it way to large and ungainly for my style as a player.

I quite agree. I would pay for a more aesthetically pleasing version of the raptor pack. My golden age Air Boy style toon could really use this as the raptor pack just doesn't work for his costume. I wouldn't even mind the detoggle.

I use the Flying Carpet on some toons where it is appropriate to their origin and background.

That's just it. Sure there are ways to get the raptor pack in game for a pittance in terms of INF, but the raptor pack is HIDEOUS. I hate the look of it. I would love the devs forever if they replaced the raptor pack, and especially the craftable jetpack power, with the 30 day jetpack.

With the Zero-G jump ability or flying boots?

Flying boots. I know there's a costume piece for that, but I'm talking temp power that gives you the ability to fly, like the jetpack.
