Unfortunately there are a couple of restrictions for non-subscribed players that will affect you. One of them is that you can't pay SG rent. You can still use an existing SG base but you need VIP access to pay rent to keep the lights on. Check this link for more details.

what about SGs I'm a member of, like the Crazy 88's (assuming they still exist- is Fulmens still around?).

I guess the worst case scenario in the case of something like the Crazy 88s would be if *everyone* in the SG was either not playing or were free/premium-only. Then there would be no one to pay the SG rent and ultimately you'd lose access to the base.
With four years of vet status, you may find a surprising amount of the game is open for you. The big VIP-only things are the Incarnate system, SG creation/base support and access to the VIP server Exalted.

I'll hopefully have time to nose around tonight and see what's what.
Not having my bases will stink- guess I'll be using my discretionary global slots on Freedom, where I have characters in active SGs.
Aw, who am I kidding...not being able to get at the market forum will eventually force me to re-sub. =P
I hear there's a new tutorial? I'll be making at least *one* alt so I can check it out. And they totally re-did grav too- Nice!
Doesn't seem like I was gone long enough for all these changes I'm seeing to have happened. Looking forward to checking it all out.

yo goat, good to see ya.well, yeah lots of stuff has changed, post freedom there have beena sizeable number of gameplay changes, do you have a stalker, they moved them around too, i hear they are pretty good now, im too busy kicking mot's butt for now with my scrapper,brute, doms and oddly enough, defenders, but i hear they are better.

The Market has gotten silly with these Enhancement Converter thingys...basically you can switch a crafted IO into another of the same rarity, set or type (all random)...so those Fortunata Hypnosis procs can become Apocs (maybe) or another Fort Hypnosis....it's quite fun!

Hey Goat! Welcome back. I'm not sure exactly when you left, but try typing "/auctionhouse" and see if anything happens. There is a fair bit of new content beyond the tutorial. Not necessarily stuff you'd want to play more than once, but I think it's worth playing. I'm not on very often myself these days, but if there's something I can give you a hand with, let me know. And yes, Fulmens is around, and the Crazy 88's have not let up a bit.

According to the 'last login' on the Goat I've been gone for 301 days. Seemed like longer!
Nice to hear they've added some lower level content (aside from MA)- I'll definitely be making an alt to check it out.

I was nosing around this other free superhero game that was supposed to kill CoH (not the one based on an old RPG but the one based on the comic franchise).
The experience was so dreadful I was motivated to check back here.
My free time is still too limited justify a sub, but this 'free to play' revolution seems tailor made for my extremely limited schedule.
