I rarely post here anymore so I literally logged in just to say that 800 points for a vanity pet regardless of what it does is utterly stupid.

Unless it tanks for you then it's not worth anywhere near the cost of a power set. Actually even then it's still not enough, should come with new costume pieces, new emotes, and maybe some new auras for that cost. I mean are you even trying anymore?

Please stop trying to milk loyal customers for cash. Those of us who have been with you from the beginning don't deserve to be treated like stupid cattle.

NCSoft will be getting no more of my money and my GW2 purchase was halted the day of the announcement. I'm a loyal and very profitable customer. I hope to return to giving them all of my money, should CoH survive.

On the other hand, ridiculously hyperbolic comments don't exactly constitute useful input, either.

Where to find me after the end:
The Secret World - Arcadia - Shinzo
Rift - Faeblight - Bloodspeaker
LotRO - Gladden - Aranelion
STO - Holodeck - @Captain_Thiraas

Obviously, I don't care about NCSoft's forum rules, now.

We're never to speak of that. That's to us Elder Scrolls fans as the Christmas special is to Star Wars fans.

the way i see it is simple. NCsoft is a business, if you don't like the way they do their business quit the game. If you like the game but don't like the microtransactions. Don't buy the microtransactions. If you don't mind the microtransaction, but don't like all of it. Don't buy what you don't like. You as a consumer do have power over the price.

Really, if no one buys the leprechaun pet, prices will go down. It is how a market system works. That is the best way letting de marketing guys know that you don't like the price. (they might see it that you don't like the pet too though).

I liked the pet on beta. But then again it didn't cost me anything at all on beta. I agree with many on this thread. I don't like the pet enough to spend 800 points. I'd rather wait for Beast Mastery or Staff mastery to come out ( i kinda expected and hoped either one would have come out, it would have made more sense before de Double XP weekend). But then again that is their decision...

Oh! but it does!

It conveys the level of hilarity because this "offer" is such a JOKE.

Ignoring anyone is a mistake. You might miss something viral to your cause.

There's that word again, microtransactions...

My bad, I guess if they color swapped it to red it'd be fine and dandy, right?

Seriously, I don't understand why people whine about a mythological creature's effect on their heritage. It'd be like a player from Egypt getting all miffed if they released a Living Mummy pet.

Course the pet itself is still garbage.

Usually I'd throw points carelessly at anything(exclusing magic carpets, inspirations, enhancements and other 1 time use things). But I'm definitely not doing that for this pet. I even put a lot of points into getting the Black Wolf, but this pet is pretty meh in comparison to that.

What's with all the lame weeks where there is nothing worth throwing points at? The asian set was the only thing worthy in ages since the powerpacks.

I remember at first there would be heaps of things worth buying each week and people would always complain about never having enough points to keep up, were those people listened to or something?

Actually it was the "sure and begorrah" Darby O'Gill speak I was more disappointed in.

I'm not insulted in the slightest, I just thought Paragon Studios were more creative than resorting to tired old sterotypes of the laziest kind in order to try and be humorous when selling their tat.

Have a look at how Valve do it Paragon Studios, their press releases for their releases are frequently brilliant (the Valentines Day one was genius).

Well 7 pages of "feedback" and I don't think I saw even one positive thing said, I hope some one takes notice of that.

Recap for all just joining the rant

*Price is to high at 800pp
*looks like junk (almost as bad as baby new year)
*INF buff is next to worthless to any one who can use the market(WW/BM)
*And some find the very idea an Irish stereotype and offensive

keep calm and carry on :P

There is but one truth. Time is limited. ndnw its over

Pretty much as predicted from the same feedback on the beta server... I'm starting to wonder why they even have it at all, their just going to do what they want to anyhow...

I think it's the NCsoft folks (not the CoH folks specifically) that don't understand...
I took a look at some of the Lineage II MTX stuff when it was first advertised = right about when Freedom came out (roughly), they had/have many of the same prices = 400, 800, 1600 (and the pts cost the same so it was $5, $10 , & $20).

And, I mean to tell ya - they really thought they had some nifty "stuff". There were items that cost $5 or $10 that lasted for 7 days of calendar time - not use!
As I recall there was a 'Chicken Hat' VANITY item that was 400 (or 800?) points for 7 days "use" = (what the front-door?) maybe it actually did something?? IDK it just looked horrible

I went back later and they seemed to have adjusted a few things(?). But there was still a bunch of wicked-expensive garbage!
Looked like they added a 'bonus' (a la the fraking leprechaun +10% Inf) (only less 'bonus'/more 'bogus'... To be fair I've never played Lineage II.

Still, it looked like a bunch of cra-polla aimed at fleecing the wallets of kids' parents OR maybe Otaku errhm - I mean the "Adult Swim" uber-enthusiaists with 'too much bloody money!'

I'm not angry. I'm sad.
Stop deluding yourself about a for profit company "caring about us people", that is a TOTAL waste of time.

You are better off not buying the offer and letting them know why, but don't think you have some kind of personal relationship with them.

The development team and this community deserved better than this from NC Soft. Best wishes on your search.

In regards to the Leprechaun pet being 800 points....I find it a highly offensive (being of Irish descent) stereotype for Irish peoples. Besides if you need this to get more influence well....that is just sad.

In regards to marketing....

I don't quite understand this claim made by some here and if it is serious. The claim of the stereotype and it being highly offensive.

As I understand things this was from "Irish" mythology and folklore? If that is so how is it offensive for other people to refer to mythology and folklore established by the Irish themselves. What am I missing?

I pretty much summed it up at the top of the page. It's not really that the use of a leprechaun is hideously offensive but the whole thing is just one giant, unfunny, lazy sterotype, both in terms of the Pet itself and the post at the start of this thread. I mean really? That's the best you could manage?

Way way too sensitive for something that was not made to be offensive in anyway whatsoever.

You must be going nutso over this page then:

Like I said I'm not that overly fussed really, I just think it's pretty terrible writing and a terribly lazy idea to be spending development time on.

Not buying the offended part due to the origin and their handling of it which was more than fine.

The spending the dev time on it...meh a reskin of the other pets with a 10% influence code bump took a skilled artist and programmer what 30 minutes to make? I doubt they spent much time on it, certainly not enough to delay work on staff fighting for instance.

I think people have a solid ground miff regarding the price point, but the only response to that is saying so here and not buying it, anything else seems inappropriate/misplaced anger as presented.

Ok, I'll explain by way of analogy:

Imagine if, instead of St. Patrick's Day, this was 'honoring' Hanukkah, or MLK Day. Really, sit down and write out the copy for the advert - start with a (slightly misquoted) 'typical' phrase for 'that kind of person', and then design the Jewish or African American vanity pet. What would it look like, what sort of game effects would it have? What would the summoning emote look like, to make it as culturally distinctive as possible, what would the idle animation be?

Seriously, write some ideas down.

Read it out loud.

See what it sounds like.

That is NOT the same thing. You show me a Jewish or African American mythology/folkore character created by "them", then and only then you might have something.
