Why is there not a power slide option to buy?
Oh dear, I forsee a wave of butthurt people raging about 'How dare you take away stuff we've had exclusively for nearly six years now waaah!!' and other such dross...
I have the slide and....uh....never use it? By all means, put it on the market or in Vet awards, I say.
GG, I would tell you that "I am killing you with my mind", but I couldn't find an emoticon to properly express my sentiment.

Well I bought each of the other preorder exclusives and every single instance is now available other ways.
A game is not supposed to be some kind of... place where people enjoy themselves!
Because it is an exclusive item.
It was sold as part of the Collector's Edition. Take the exclusive out of the collector's edition and everyone who bought it wasted their money and will feel gypped. Without the exclusive items it was overpriced at retail and on resale markets simply outrageous. I have a friend who paid $100 for hers.
It should stay exclusive.

Is there some sort of contractual reason the power slide can not be bought? Every other example of a pre order or collector bonus can be bought or is a veteran reward.

The pre-order items, Good vs Evil items, and GR: Complete Collection items did not carry with them an added cost. And in the case of the GvE and GR:CC items, those were available to buy separately from the box at the same time or very shortly after the box release.
Whether that's a valid justification or not for keeping them exclusive now is something I have no opinion on.

I'd really like them to stick the power-slide in the market as, if they did, they'd probably allow it to be recoloured. As happened with the Winter Event halos.
That thing'd be awesome if it could be any colour you want, as it is, I have very few characters that the pink goes with.
Main Hero: Mazey - level 50 + 1 fire/fire/fire blaster.
Main Villain: Chained Bot - level 50 + 1 Robot/FF Mastermind.

Well as owner of a set of CoV collectors' I heartily endorse letting others buy them.

the only thing i want is the VIP/destined one badge, but theres no way in heck that im paying $100 for a copy of it on amazon, i may be a badger, but im not stupid enough to waste my money like that
i would gladly pay paragon points for it even if it cost like $15+ in points
Apparently there is a Dev or Producer blocking Slide from going to Market.
As stupid and inexplicable as it is, that's the way it is.

I got this Collector's Edition back when it came out and so I've had access to Prestige Power Slide, cape of the four winds and the VIP/Destined One badge for all this time. I think that's long enough for them to be so exclusive. At least the power and the cape should be purchasable on the Paragon market already. I think those should have been made available in some other way at least four years ago.
Trust me, I wouldn't feel "ripped off" or whatever. I can't even understand why anyone would even come on here and say such a thing. It makes no sense to me at all.
Actually if I recall it was more than one. It was reported that certain people would have to be, not working for the company anymore.
|
EDIT: These people. Gah, it would prolly have to be a lot of money!
Yep, there's a difference between pre-order freebies (Arachnos helmets, for example), and collectors' edition exclusives. "Exclusives" being the operative word here.
That said, I have all of the CE exclusives, and I wouldn't personally have a problem with them going on the market for sale. "Personally" being the operative word here, as I don't claim to speak for anyone else.
You can't get the VIP/Destined One badge, Cape of the Four Winds, or Arachnos Cape either. Like the Power Slide....
|
Left: the exclusive. Right: the compromise.
Which could be the way to go: compromise. Use the animation from the Prestige Power Slide on a new, similar-but-not-identical power (it's really just a dressed-up Sprint anyway) -- leave out the nifty purple glow and just call it "Power Slide" so that the exclusive can stay exclusive. An "effects-free" version might work better with the modern game's path auras, anyway.

Someone paying $100 for theirs is rather irrelevant, really. Should all the rest of us who paid less be expected to give PS the difference in the interest of fairness?

No other purchasable one-off powers can be recolored. There are posts regarding the color of the Rocket Board and Flying Carpet powers to this effect nearly every day.

As someone who purchased a Hero Gear Kit, I'm okay with putting Power Slide, Cape of the Four Winds and the "VIP" badge in the market. As someone who doesn't have the special Arachnos cape, I'm okay with that going in the market, too.

No.
No, actually that's not true. You can't get the VIP/Destined One badge, Cape of the Four Winds, or Arachnos Cape either. Like the Power Slide, those were all part of a Collector's Edition that people paid extra for, and they were told those items were exclusive, so that exclusivity is part of what they paid for.

I have the Gamestop GR pre-oder, and i had to wait until GR went live for my powersets, while others who per-ordred it online got them right away.
It may not be a price tag, but it was 6 months extra waiting to get what i paid for at the same time as my friends. Even had to wait a day extra for it to be released in the store, while all my friends were in Praetoria due to the early launch online.
I hated it when they got in the Reward Program, because they do say EXCLUSIVE on the box.
For those dropping $100 on the CoH:CE, i feel ya, i was close to buying it several times.. till a few months ago i stumbled across a forum post from a person saying he had one left.. i bought it for $15 bucks and am now the proud owner of the V.I.P. badge

As someone who bought the VIP set when it was released, and actually uses the slide regularly on several characters, I wouldn't really care if other people had the slide or badges. I'd like them to give it the ability to be recolored though, but I'd like that for all of my powers (especially hasten)
People actually spend $100 for the CE?
I've bought five since March 2010 and haven't paid more than $30 a piece.
And that's not counting the unused Hero Kit I bought on eBay for $7.95 a few months ago.
But as someone who has bought that crap multiple times over, I don't care either way. Keep it or release it.

I've been wanting to see Power Slide available in the Market for a while, since I don't have it and I'm unwilling to spend for a box code that's rare to find when I have Paragon Points ready and waiting.
CoV and GR were paid for exclusive content, and everyone has CoV and every VIP has GR now. I'm far more upset that a paid expansion was given away free a year after it was released without even a minor boon to those who bought it (we could have at least gotten an exclusive "given the middle finger" badge) than I would be that some minor once exclusive toys can be bought in the market 6+ years later.

Why are OTHER excluives advertised as exclusives OK to give, but not those?
A game is not supposed to be some kind of... place where people enjoy themselves!
I got my Collector's Edition code from Nuclear Toast who had one extra, who gave it to me for free. At the time, an "European" version of the game didn't exist, so there was no way for me to buy the DVD Edition at all... So I didn't. I own it now as a gift I didn't have to pay for, so really have no reason to be upset if this is sold, but I'll have to ask NT if he wants to be upset for both of us.
Personally, I want to see the Power Slide sold on the Market, as I want to see all the other "exclusives" sold on the market, too. So you paid $100 six years ago, and for that, you've bought six years of exclusivity, plus a $15 free month at the time. That seems like more than a good enough deal. I pre-purchased Going Rogue and got a few months of "exclusivity" of the Going Rogue powersets, and I'm perfectly happy with it.

Yeah, I got them by an extra $10 at GameStop vs. competitors.
Why are OTHER excluives advertised as exclusives OK to give, but not those? |
Incidentally, if your local Gamestop charged you $10 EXTRA to pre-order the regular edition of the game, someone working there either screwed up or ripped you off. Gamestop has never, to my knowledge, tacked on an additional cost to preorders. They do insist on a deposit to reserve your copy, but that should have been applied toward the cost of the game. If you paid more for the game than the regular price, it should have been for the Collector's Edition. And it would have said so right there on the box.
Again, as far as I'm concerned, they can sell it all. I like that that I have the stuff, not that other people don't have it.
