For me:
What side do you pick more than others? Blue. It's varied though, and I do have a fair few Rogues.
What play style do you prefer? Teaming. In-character (roleplaying) preferably. Soloing bores me to tears. I like to make competitive builds on a reasonable budget.
What power set(s) do you favor? For meleers: Willpower. Regen. Shield. I've only recently started liking support or control (I have a Dom and a Corr to go with a zillion scrappers, brutes and blasters).
What zones do you like the most? Eden is amazing. Cimerora is breathtaking. I do really like flying/leaping through Steel Canyon too though.
Do you usually play as a male or female (word of hatred) ''toon''? About 70/30 favouring female. Although I have an equal number of male/female characters, the wimmins have been more popular, I think. Or maybe they hold my interest more, dunno. My guy chars are by no means shunned though.
Views on Role Playing? Yes, yes, yes. As much as I enjoy the hitting, I wouldn't play this game otherwise.

I'm mostly a Tanker. Even on blasters and controllers I have difficulty in restraining my desire to get up close and bust some teeth.

What power set(s) do you favor?
Invulnerability is a personal fave. As is Super Strength.
For controllers I love Fire/Rad, I'm "okay" with Fire/Kin. I have a Grav/Kin and am anxiously awaiting the Grav changes. Starting to get a handle on Illusion Control.

What zones do you like the most?
Pretty much anything not PVP.

I have a mix of all three genders (Male, Female and Huge). Probably in a 40/50/10 ratio. Honestly, male and huge run is vaguely...strange looking. Like someone in desperate need of a bathroom break.

Views on Role Playing?
Most of my RP is very VERY meta. A little gives some atmosphere, but I find really deep RP faintly "creepy". That and I'm not always in the mood to be inflicted with someone's badly spelled leanings towards literary melodrama. Not claiming I'm a paragon of originality and deft phrasing. But it makes me uncomfortable be around someone who's gone overboard on "The Quest For ME! ME! ME!"

What side do you pick more than others? Predominantly hero. I've got a couple vigilantes and rogues, but very rarely play full villains. Not sure why.
What play style do you prefer? Melee types mostly - I like the direct approach.
What power set(s) do you favor? Whichever sets I've chosen for the character I'm most attached to currently. Changes over time.
What zones do you like the most? The Shadow Shard! I don't often go there, because there's not much to do, but visually, thematically, and even just in terms of getting around (gravity geysers!) I like it a lot.

Views on Role Playing? Even though my gaming roots lie in pen-and-paper RPGs, I find it hard to take roleplaying seriously. In my head, most of my characters have a concept and personality to some degree, but I almost never get into character.

Almost all blueside. In fact most of my characters that started redside have moved blueside.

What play style do you prefer?

Melee. I really like scrappers and tanks.

What power set(s) do you favor?

I don't really have a strong preference. My main is a tank, Stone/Superstrength, and I like that set, although I'm having a lot of fun with Street Justice right now.When Icreate a character, I tend to go for an entire concept, and therefore I use the powers that fit the concept.

What zones do you like the most?

Talos Island seems to be where I hang out the most when not actually adventuring. It's handy in having a door to Pocket D, stores, Wentworths, tram and base portal all pretty close together.

I think Pocket D has a lot of potential as a gathering spot if a little attention was paid to it. And I really, really love the Shadow Shard, but so little ever goes on there that I don't head that way very often.

Views on Role Playing?

It can be fun if the other members of the team/league have any imagination at all. If I'm on a team with a claws/regen scrapper named XxXWulfereenXxX, who insists on calling everyone "bub," that's just stupid, and I won't play along.

When I'm playing my main, a lot of folks think I'm RPing when I'm really just being me.

Do you usually play as a male or female (word of hatred) ''toon''? Exclusively male. I love women, and I find the vast array of strong, smart, and/or sexy female toons in this game to be fantastic. But playing as them led to people referring to me, the player, as "her" and that was unsettling, haha.

Views on Role Playing? I will talk in character while on a team about my immediate circumstances (mission objective or accomplishments, team members, etc.) but I do not invent a whole livelihood for my characters outside of what I'm doing.

Views on Role Playing?

A: I am an avid gamer of both LARPs and Table Top games, so I have no issue with RP. However there is something odd about online RP. I think it is that there is no tone of voice, or facial expressions to go on. I think I read that only 10% of communication in a conversation is spoken. That would mean that online RP lacks 80% of the communication total.

I however respect others who do it, and will take part if on a team that is an RP team.

What side do you pick more than others?

Hero-side. I'd guess that 75% of my characters are heroes. I have villain characters that I like, but I can't play the villain for long. Most of my villains are actually Rogues anyway.

What play style do you prefer?

I like soloing or duoing with my fiancee if I'm running new content I haven't done before, as I want to be able to take my time and read the text/look around without feeling like I'm wasting someone else's time. If I've done the content before, I prefer small teams (4-6 people). We steamroll-- I hate pulling, and will only do it if we team-wipe (which doesn't happen often). I don't really enjoy PUGs, I like to team with friends, but sometimes you have to PUG due to

I hate events that require multiple teams, but I do them if I have to to get badges or Incarnate powers or whatever. I feel less connected to the game world, and less like I'm playing a character, and more like I'm playing some generic combat game with a bunch of random people on the internet. I think the "social bonds" that form that are so vital to MMOs are more likely to form on smaller teams where people aren't faceless members of the crowd.

What power set(s) do you favor?

Super Strength is my favorite, because I like superheroes with superhuman strength. I think I've got 6 characters with Super Strength (and either Invulnerability or Willpower). Other than that, I try to come up with characters that use varied powersets, so that I don't have a lot of similar characters.

What zones do you like the most?

Steel Canyon and Talos feel the most like "home" to me, for some reason. I think it's because they are bright and have lots of tall buildings for that city feel, as well as the nostalgia from running tons of characters through them. You might think I'd have that feeling with Atlas, but I actually always preferred Galaxy as my starting zone. Not that it mattered much, as you get out of the starting zone pretty quick.

I DON'T PLAY "TOONS" I PLAY CHARACTERS!

I think 90% of my characters are female. The male run has always bothered me, and (as was mentioned upthread) makes them look like they've had an "accident" due to the way they won't put one foot in front of the other. I also think women are cool.

Views on Role Playing?

I participate in what I refer to as "light roleplaying". Mostly it amounts to in-character comments during missions. I don't stand around and chat in-character for very long, usually, and I don't develop "plots" or anything of that nature. I have done some writing about my characters outside of the game.

I'd be interested in more in-depth roleplaying, but after years of pen and paper RPGs, I feel extremely limited in this environment, so it gets frustrating when NPCs can't respond and you can't interact with your surroundings beyond other players.

Virtue, and only Virtue. It's where my supergroup is, and therefore where my friends are. Playing on any other server feels like a waste of time. I like the community there, too, but since I don't play on other servers, I can't really say they are better or worse than on any other server.

What side do you pick more than others?

I'm about 70/30 Blue/Red. I'd play villains more if there were more players and more Dev love for those of us who like to be evil. Plus there's too many arcs where I'm no more than a lackey and those bug me. I always feel the writers never quite got the hang of villainous writing although arcs like Dean's and Leonard's plus Tips show this is changing.

What play style do you prefer?

I'm a ranged DPS guy. Nothing makes me giggle more than seeing huge spawns fall over. I do like my debuffing too though and if I do go into melee, it's normally with my SS/Fire Brute who I always compare to being a melee Blaster.

What power set(s) do you favor?

Dark Miasma, Sonic Attack, Fire Blast, Kinetics, Superstrength.

What zones do you like the most?

Faultline, Cimerora, Rikti War Zone (I consider these to be the 'Golden Age' of CoX's zone design and mission writing. More recent additions are heavy on the pretty, less so on the writing.)

Characters... not toons. And I tend to have a 50/50 split along with a few other robots and demons that are neither or both.

Views on Role Playing?

See my signature. I'm not that much of a social roleplayer though, if I stand around for too long chatting I get itchy feet. I like to RP within missions along with running AE RP arcs too. But if the whole team is OOC then I'll just concentrate on blowing things up.

I've got slightly more heroes than villains, but I really don't think I have a genuine preference.

Mostly solo, and Melee - but I also enjoy controllers and I'm just starting to get the hang of dominators (I think).

I try not to repeat powersets but I have particularly enjoyed Super Strength, Dark Melee, Willpower, Fire Control and Radiation Emission. I recently realised that what really sells a power set for me (at least attack sets) is the sound effects - I like good solid crunching impacts that convey the power of a set. Street Justice and Titan Weapons sound good so far and I have high hopes for Staff Fighting.

What zones do you like the most?
I have a soft spot for Talos from having spent so much time there, and I think it and St Martial do the best job of conveying the feeling of a place you could actually live. Visually I like the looks of Eden and the current Dark Astoria - the fog makes it one of the most atmospheric areas in the game even if there isn't much to do there in its current incarnation.

I have precisely one male character out of (off the top of my head) about 30. I find it difficult to connect to the gruff, macho vocal effects the games uses, and dammit there's just something weird about the male run cycle when viewed from behind.

Most of my characters have a back story and at least a rough personality (usually both developed over time) but I don't roleplay in game. I have no particular opinions about it - I very rarely see it outside Pocket D, less so now that a few years ago.

Redside for my first almost 3 years exclusively. I am now on Blueside a lot, but will be flip/flopping a lot more in my future plans.

I like to be a primary damage dealer. Brutes mostly, Doms, and a few Blasters.

What power set(s) do you favor?
I love SS. I use Invul and Will a lot. For Doms I like Grav/Energy. I like Dark powers a lot too. I have certain concepts for my characters that lead me to very specific sets. I wish Energy Melee was written better. That type of over the top movements just scream super to me.

What zones do you like the most?
I like hub zones. Cap is really tightly written, with a lot of adventures one zone away. More like that. Also, the central city on that is wow.

I started on Liberty redside. Who knew it was dead, I just picked a name. Got a Villain SG up to the top 50 or so (Vanguard Line, does anyone remember my endless recruiting?) Then I moved servers a bit, settled into Freedom. Freedom Redside was fun for me, though a did a lot of soloing. 36 character slots on that server for me. I tried Exalted when it came out. But I am on Virtue almost exclusively now. I have a group of very serious Badgers and MO runners I hang with. i mostly fill in for them and am basically watching/learning. (and grabbing great badges!)
