What side do you pick more than others? Heroes, definitely. I can't see myself being a bad guy!

What play style do you prefer? I prefer a more laid-back and sociable gaming experience. I also enjoy base building.

What power set(s) do you favor? Ranged damage sets. I love my blasters.

What zones do you like the most? Talos is my favorite zone, as far as accessibility. I love me some Atlas Park for the social aspect. Ouroboros is a favorite because I like those little floating islands, and Cimerora is also one of my faves.

Do you usually play as a male or female (word of hatred) ''toon''? It's worked out that I pretty much split my characters 50/50. When I 1st started playing, I used to play exclusively male characters, but I've played females more and more and am comfortable playing either gender.

Views on Role Playing? I enjoy role playing. I have/had a few RP static teams I enjoyed very much. I will easily RP on teams, if others are RP-ing, but I'm okay with not RP-ing as well.

Servers? Originally started on Liberty, but moved to Virtue and will never leave!

What play style do you prefer?
I solo quite a lot b/c I play odd hours of short duration. Love to team, though. I have a hard time playing strict damage-dealers. Prefer Tanks, MMs, Trollers, and Defenders: they make me feel as if I'm actually 'doing something'.

What power set(s) do you favor?
For tanks I like primaries that I can set and forget. I don't like 'clicky' armors. Love Ill control. Any MM set. My Crab is my new fav.

What zones do you like the most?
Faultline, Croatoa, Nerva (even though it is too huge).

Views on Role Playing?
I am not a patient person, and trying to rp makes me impatient. I have met those totally immersed who can rp AND steamroll content at the same time, and greatly admire them. I tend to concentrate too much on busting heads to be able to rp effectively, but my vocab and 'tone' do change when I play some 'toons'.

Servers?
Primarily Virtue, but have 50s on 6 servers and the most 'toons' on Pinnacle: I tend to drink while playing (is Pin still the official 'drunk server'?)

What side do you pick more than others?
Villains, typically. Although my main is a Rogue and sees just as much time in Paragon.

What play style do you prefer?
Historically, I'm a melee player who leans toward high defense/big, slow attacks. Although I have varied it up in other games, and my main is a Crab Spider. I tend to solo most of the time, but am more than willing to do team-oriented content.

What power set(s) do you favor?
Soldier of Arachnos, obviously. But I tend to give many power combinations a spin. LOVE Titan Weapons.

What zones do you like the most?
Revamped Atlas, The Shadow Shard, First Ward. Imperial City is nice as well.

Mostly male, but that's due primarily to enjoying being a hulking giant. Also, I'm not particularly confident in my ability to design female characters that don't obviously look like a guy designed them.

Views on Role Playing?
I'm an old PnP RPer going way back. In-game, I'm almost always somewhat in character, but I usually don't go full-tilt with my RP. That said, I'm more inclined to go deeper into character if I'm around others who are RPing.

Servers?
Justice for the last year or two. Before then, I was a Pinnaclite.

I would say I favor Blue at about a 2:1 ratio.


What play style do you prefer?

It varies between melee and ranged, but I prefer damage dealers over support character, and really dislike tanks. My favorite ATs are Scrappers, Brutes, Doms and Blasters in no particular order. Oh and I probably prefer to play solo. I team out of necessity, but the team experience tends to drain and or stress me, so I usually won't play on teams for more than an hour unless it's a TF or something.


What power set(s) do you favor?

Fire (except control), mind, broadsword, willpower.


What zones do you like the most?

I really only dislike Sharkhead, Skyway, Nerva and IP. Everything else I like about equally and for different reasons.

My toons tend to be female on about a 3:1 or even 4:1 ratio. I don't know why, but I find it more interesting to play a heroic female character than a heroic male character, maybe because I prefer my heroes to be more like Buffy Summers and less like John McClain.


Views on Role Playing?

I enjoy it and I think it can add a lot to the playing experience provided it doesn't devolve into emo crap, but I'm casual about it and will mostly play OOC on PuGs if everyone else is.


Servers?

Virtue first by a long shot, followed by Guardian, which was my first "home," followed by Exalted. Breakdown of playtime is probably 90%, 8%, 2% respectively.

Getting this thread back on course, here's my responses:

• What side do you pick more than others? Mostly Blue, with a dash of Red and a few Greys. I love Gold//Praetoria, but sadly so few people play over there
  
• What play style do you prefer? I usually prefer teaming, unless I'm running content for it's story. I have no problem creating//leading PUG's, and usually have fun doing it.
  As for AT's, I play almost everything, with a slight favoritism towards melee (Tank/Scrappers) and Support (Defenders and Corruptors).
  
• What power set(s) do you favor? I rarely reuse powerset on my characters. I have a soft spot for Dark Miasma (my first L50 Character) and Mercenaries Mastermind (My first L50 Villain).
  
• What zones do you like the most? Oroboros, Cimmerora, Croatoa, Imperial City, First Ward. Cap au Diablo for the convenience factor.
  
• Do you usually play as a male or female (word of hatred) ''toon''? Mostly female, as I usually have better inspiration making female costumes than male. I've yet to make a "huge" character, since none of my current character concepts would lend themselves to that kind of body shape.
  
• Views on Role Playing? I usually have a backstory written up for my characters, and the occasional light RP that may crop-up in teams. Rarely the mood will strike me and I'll do some more-extended RP in Pocket D or similar, but those moods have been few and far between.

What side do you pick more than others?
Blue slightly more than Red, mainly because of the greater selection of zones, while Gold is a distant third because of the capped level (dystopias also become depressing after a while).

What play style do you prefer?
I tend to solo or PUG these days since my playing time has been decreasing (I'd love more live events, public quests, or group activities instead of CoH's ceaseless stream of instanced content).

What power set(s) do you favor?
Scrapper is the easiest, I find, so it winds up as a default. I also enjoy Masterminds, Corruptors, and Controllers.

What zones do you like the most?
The Rikti War Zone and Cap au Diable may be my individual favorites in terms of map design, but Praetoria wins overall, not least since it features contiguous zones throughout. (I miss Galaxy City, too.)

My characters, or "chars", are predominantly male, although I created a few female ones when I came up with suitable themes.

Views on Role Playing?
Once I've established a character's theme and written up a bio, I tend to limit RP to staying in character in conversation whenever appropriate (I dislike narrating in-game and loathe god-moding).

Servers?
Infinity, Champion, and Union, primarily, but I have alts everywhere.

While I'm usually all for surveys and assorted data collection, I have my doubts about why this set of questions needed to have been segregated by gender initially and then repeated here, tit for tat, so to speak. As an aside regarding question #5, I find it interesting that the only time I experienced anything like harrassment in game was when I was playing a female character—dressed in a sci-fi metallic full bodysuit, for anyone wondering. Other than that, I myself have never encountered or even witnessed anything like gender discrimination while playing City of Heroes. (Incidentally, that stands in marked contrast to some of the retrograde opinions that are regularly expressed here on the forums, but that's the Internet, I suppose.) CoH's community remains one of the most pleasant overall I've spent time with in an MMORPG.

Views on Role Playing? I'm an old school tabletop gamer so all my characters have concepts and back stories (which I'm not always good about writting down). In game I usually have a catch phrase or two and will tend to speak in my characters voice.
Servers? Champion for heroes/vigilantes, Protector for villains/rogues.

Blue and Red, for the heroes and villains respectively. I avoid "gold-side" like the plague because I'm not a fan of the no-win scenario world where everyone is evil and corrupt and no good deed goes unpunished. With heroes and villains, at least something gets accomplished.

What play style do you prefer?
Kill stuff, preferably with overwhelming force and/or firepower. How this is achieved is irrelevant - shoot, stab, club, have others do it. So long as I can kill stuff dead with my own character, that's good enough.

What power set(s) do you favor?
Anything that's on an AT which isn't squishy. No preferences beyond that. If it has enough health/protection to survive and doesn't get chain-held-killed AND can kill stuff at a decent pace, it's a powerset that gets played. As long as it's not Stone Armour. Ugh!

What zones do you like the most?
No preference. A zone is a zone is a zone. No preference for mission tileset, either. They're all pretty in different ways.

Both. It depends on the concept and what's in my head at the time. Generally, I subconsciously end up with a lot of female heroes and male villains, but I'm trying to even out the score a bit.

Don't participate. I like to tell stories, not take part in them, especially when I can't control all the variables and have to worry about slighting other people's characters

Servers?
Victory and Pinnacle. Victory because I learned of the game from SomethingAwful.com and the article-writer played there and Pinnacle because Zombra asked me to and I was out of slots on Victory.
