Thanks and much kudos to all involved. I wish I could have stayed for longer but 3:00am on a work night is my limit these days. Today was kind of blurry but totally worth it!
Much love Arcanaville. Stay crazy. -

I missed this one, and I'm one of those silver aged gamers with some disposable income and would be more than wiling to throw some money at you for whatever. -
Well, my first character is long gone but from memory looked rather like this:
(Ms Liberty include for scale)
An elec/elec blaster created when I had no idea what I was doing I'm afraid she didn't last long.
The earliest character concept I kept (although the character herself was remade a couple of times) was Chiaros:
Sadly the original costume is lost to time now but the black and white patchwork idea lasted thoughout (what I really wanted was an asymetrical 'quartered' pattern - I kept hoping) An MA/SR scrapper (eventually) Chiaros made 50 earlier this year, after nearly seven years.

If I open a Super Pack and get a card for 100 Reward Merits, how will that show up in the list of items to be claimed? Does it come through as 4 lots of 25 merits?

I have run out of inspiration for my latest baby at level 40. It's been running pretty well just on SOs and with just some obvious IO choices I can see greatness beckon but how should I finish the build? (Or rip it up and start again, I'm not proud

Now, if someone was asking for the princess hat to be usable with the think tank, that might reach a 9.2.

What side do you pick more than others?
I've got slightly more heroes than villains, but I really don't think I have a genuine preference.
What play style do you prefer?
Mostly solo, and Melee - but I also enjoy controllers and I'm just starting to get the hang of dominators (I think).
What power set(s) do you favor?
I try not to repeat powersets but I have particularly enjoyed Super Strength, Dark Melee, Willpower, Fire Control and Radiation Emission. I recently realised that what really sells a power set for me (at least attack sets) is the sound effects - I like good solid crunching impacts that convey the power of a set. Street Justice and Titan Weapons sound good so far and I have high hopes for Staff Fighting.
What zones do you like the most?
I have a soft spot for Talos from having spent so much time there, and I think it and St Martial do the best job of conveying the feeling of a place you could actually live. Visually I like the looks of Eden and the current Dark Astoria - the fog makes it one of the most atmospheric areas in the game even if there isn't much to do there in its current incarnation.
Do you usually play as a male or female (word of hatred) ''toon''?
I have precisely one male character out of (off the top of my head) about 30. I find it difficult to connect to the gruff, macho vocal effects the games uses, and dammit there's just something weird about the male run cycle when viewed from behind.
Views on Role Playing?
Most of my characters have a back story and at least a rough personality (usually both developed over time) but I don't roleplay in game. I have no particular opinions about it - I very rarely see it outside Pocket D, less so now that a few years ago.
Servers?
Heroes on Union, Villains on Defiant. I may try Exalted or Freedom one of these days to see what the difference is. -
Quote:I remember it being suggested that there are only two Sith because if there are ever three, two of them will inevitably ally to backstab the third. No idea now if that's remotely canon.Okay, i'm lying. i always thought that was the dumbest thing the post-Sith species wannabe Sith like the Emperor and his predecessors could have decided to do. Or has that been changed? i don't pay that much attention to the ever shifting details of Star Wars canon.

Absolute Power
Clint Eastwood, Gene Hackman, Ed Harris, Scott Glenn and a script that lies there coughing up blood for 2 hours. -
OK I'm confused. Last time I looked people were complaining that free players weren't allowed to start teams. Now we're complaining they'll be spamming blind invites. When did this change?

If you're looking for reasons, how about this:
Quote:Emphasis mine. If they can make the the current hardware do more, and aren't expecting a sudden influx of new players, they can reduce the size of the server farms without impacting performance. Thus reducing their overheads.Originally Posted by Second Measure
Second, before the rumor mill starts churning, this isn't about a server merge or going server-less, either -- the server communities are genuinely important to you and to us. We have good, old-fashioned business reasons to be more efficient with the servers. If you could make your car get a couple miles more to the gallon every day, you'd probably do it, too. Now imagine you can make your car *twice* as efficient. This is kinda like that.

* Upstart is arrested and sent to the Zig.
Quote:It sounds like all of the Freaks at that lab were members of the Upstart Faction, a group of Freakshow dedicated to total anarchy and the end of all government. their leader, a young Freak named Upstart, was a like a living messiah to them. But he was captured several months ago. If they are planning on breaking him out of the Brick House, that could take these Freaklympics from bad to madness. I'll see if I can turn anything up. -

Well this isn't the build I leveled with but I constructed it broadly as if I was levelling, so the slot levels shown are more or less as I'd do it. Basically if you want to level as a tri-form you just have to accept you don't have enough slots to do everything at once. That will start to ease from 30 onwards as the game gives you more slots, and inventions mean you can do more with less slots but it's one of the challenges of the HEATs.
Take a look at the other builds around the forum for inspiration but I'd basically recommend slotting the powers you use and not worrying too much about most of the Human form powers at this stage - Nova and Dwarf are the point of running tri-form after all and will reward investment. Get hold of Mids if you haven't already and try some things out to see the numbers, or transfer to the test server and run through a respec and see how you like it in play.
*Edit*
And I should add, plan on respecing the build at least a couple of times as you level, so you can move slots around as new tactical opportunities open up. Getting Light Form for example will mean you can get greater use out of the human powers so you may want to move some slots over at the same time. -

Dating is given as "close to twenty years ago" (and Justin Sinclair is depicted as being around six years old). Quote:What about the current Insperation 'system' of a 3-1 conversion. Actually, not literally the same but take any three (or any two + threads) uncommons say to create the uncommon you actually want. That's still quite a hefty loss to the player but better than converting to threads and building back up.Perhaps one way to partially remedy this is to offer "transmutation" recipes. Keep the breakdown values the same: if you really want to break a component down into the lowest form of incarnate currency, you're not going to get much. But suppose you could turn any uncommon into any other uncommon at the cost of that uncommon and, say, 6 threads. Suppose you could turn any rare into any other rare for the cost of that rare and maybe 30 threads. Something like around ten percent of the cost of construction. That's not bad, and it means if you want to think ahead and figure it all out ahead of time, you'll do a little better than someone that just picks randomly. But even if you pick randomly, you'll still get about 90% of the value out of those components even if you later have to transmute them into other flavors. The flavor then becomes just that: mostly flavor.

Quote:Pretty consistent advice from everyone but pretty much every alternative to the Energy Mastery powers needs to steal slots from somewhere. I could take the sets out of Brawl and Taunt - sacrifice a bit of defence/HP/End... Do you think that's the way to go?I don't have access to Mids at the moment, but I can tell you, my SS/WP brute runs with sprint, combat jumping, all four WP toggles, Tough and Weave. I have an active attack chain that includes Kick and Air Supperiority, and the only time I have end issues if when fighting rooms full of Mu, or a Malta Sapper that I didn't see in time, or very rarely against Carnies. Will power's Quick Recovery three slotted and Stamina three slotted as well as SO's and common IO's for end redux in all attacks and my blue bar only barely moves when I activate Soul Mastery's Darkest Night (come on, an ability that reduces the chance you get hit and debuffs the damage the hits that get through do, it's a WP dream come true).
If I can make a suggestion though, leave out Hand Clap. It does no damage and knocks the enemies out of Rise to the Challenge's healing range. It doesn't help a WP brute at all.
Hurl I will say, personally I don't like it. It's faster for me to jump after a running enemy and hit him with a knock down attack then it is for the Hurl activation time. At least that one won't hamper WP'rs regen though, so keep it if you like it.
Hand Clap - looks like it might be useful in a tight spot but I'm not wedded to it. As above it's mainly there because it doesn't really need slots. I'd probably forget it was there if it came down to it anyway.
Hurl - I'm with TheBruteSquad on this one - sometimes a ranged attack is the way to go. The Devs insisted on giving AE custom mobs ranged attacks and there is wisdom in this. I'll be d*mned if I'll be Hover-Kited by some smug NPC -
I am torn between Illusion of Choice (Ill/Kin controller) and VenoMiss (Thugs/Poison MM).
