Perhaps... but there's generally a lack of ethnic diversity in comics - and if Paragon killed off the most significant African-American signature hero, there would a justification for asking why they felt that was necessary.
What makes you think anyone will care, or even notice, what happens in this game?

Well, I'm sure the African American part of the fanbase and just about everyone who gives a care about diversity would have chance of caring...

Haha, Ultimus! *points*

Anyways, they're not killing off Statesman because Matt secretly hates Jack.

There are no words for what this community, and the friends I have made here mean to me. Please know that I care for all of you, yes, even you. If you Twitter, I'm MrThan. If you're Unleashed, I'm dumps. I'll try and get registered on the Titan Forums as well. Peace, and thanks for the best nine years anyone could ever ask for.

It's a question they don't want to have to answer and so it isn't an option and will not happen.
It's a question that shouldn't have to be asked and if it was one that shouldn't have to be answered as it's insulting to the devs, as it's basically accussing them of terrible things.

That said, I agree. It's what keeps BABs safe imo. Nevermind how they could make it the most awesome and sad and basically the best story ever told, and it would still leave them with feedback asking for them to defend themselves on the choice.

Basically killing BABs would likely have the forums and the devs PMs filled with flaming posts, and likely some new TV Trope that gets worse than Miss Liberty's death.

It's a sad state of affairs, but judging by the forums just how it would be.

Sooo...if I was going to bet, I'd say BABs is safe.

Still thinking Positron or Manticore. For Synapse to go out, I think it'd be a disservice to have him go out by anything other than a huge Crey Industries threat to the city type of storyline.

And it looks like I was wrong. And still feels like a cop out of "Let's get rid of Jack for good"

No really, no matter what they do, they're not going to make the player character truely feel like they're taking up Statesman's place.

Aha!

So, THAT PERSON dies in part five of the seven part story. The surprise death comes in the middle(ish) instead of at the end.

The last two stories would have us picking up the pieces then, dealing with the consequences?

Interesting ...

American Dawg, Starblaze, Neanderthal Joe, Shining Dawn, Tokamak Dragon, Stinger Incarnate, Burning Tyger, Dover Tornado, Big Roach, Dark Paladin, Archmage Wylde, Kings Row Hornet, Prancing Deer
Avogadro, Science Lord
Edgar Nightcraft, Doc Cicada, Chupa Macabre, Dr Forchtenstein, Blood Shrew

I can just see Rev. Al Sharpton getting all up in arms about the fictional death of a fictional character...... Really Mattwo? What would a characters death in a comic book video game have anything to do with diversity?

How about letting Paragon Studios tell their story the way they want? You may not like how the story progresses or ends, but that doesn't mean it's wrong.

We all know now that States is going to die. I had that feeling after Episode 3... but I don't think he will be the only hero death from Episode 5-7.

It's safe to say that if this was a horror based game, BABs would have died a long time ago.

What if they hit us with a mag 1,000,000,000,000 Immobilize the moment we try to teleport into IP?

This is what's known as pulling a "Harold Camping."

I have no problem with posing hypothetical theories, but when someone does so with absolute conviction, to the point where they are basically saying, "You'll be sorry when I'm right," and they end up wrong? I can't help but think, "You set yourself up for that."

@Winter. Because I'm Winter. Period.

As far as the other half of the equation. Who will replace Statesman? I have two theories. One is Desdemona. She's the heroic face of Going Rogue, she has recently been given major power in one of the incarnate trials, thus giving her great power and leadership.

My second guess is, funnily enough, Back Alley Brawler. They recently made a specific push to distance him from the Freedom Phalanx. Many people thought he was a member, or a reserve member, or something like that. They've even done patches that specifically remove references of him being a part of the Freedom Phalanx. And yet, he has been specifically included as part of the Who Will Die storyline as one of the Surviving Eight, and in one of the teasers with his broken glove.

I think being in charge of the Carnival of Light and the Freedom Phalanx would be too much for Des.

"People who care about diversity" don't even know this game exists. Moot point now, but there's less than zero chance of some media firestorm being provoked by BAB getting greased.

I love how extreme and off base your reasoning is

If you do it nice and slow, sure. I have a habit of biting fingers, my hubby is even scared to get carried away.
