This is me right now. I played about every night before the announcement and since then havent been able to play longer than 15 minutes. This was my relaxation after work and to be honest I have had issues even getting to sleep since this was how I calmed my brain.

Now I log-in, run one mission and log-out. I want to play but it just depresses me that in a short time I wont ever get to play again. I am starting to come to grips with the fact that my gaming days are likely over since there isnt anything else out there I enjoy and that this game will not exist in a few months.
  2. All this go to CO has my scratching my head. . . I downloaded it again, patched it again, made a new character again, and still cant get out of the tutorial. I HATE the graphics, my character looks like my 3 year old niece drew him, and the movement without a gampad is ridiculous, and why is it so hard to have a camera follow my characters movements?!?!?!?

DCUO? Looks so so pretty but playing it is BORING. SWTOR same thing. So pretty but my god if I have 20 minutes to play I want to play not just spend that time running across the landscape. WoW?!?! FORGET IT!

So guess this is the end of gaming for me. Oh well, have to grow up sometime, guess being close to 40 this is my time.

Also, I can't believe I haven't seen a single mention of Star Wars The Old Republic. I am kinda trying it, but I'm not really sure what to think so far. Would like to get others' opinions.

I like the Star Wars world overall, but the graphics in this one seem way outdated, considering how new it is. Also I don't seem to really like the melee lightsaber combat, which is probably not good in a Star Wars game

So far the only class I've enjoyed is the trooper, which plays exactly like a CoH blaster pretty much.

Anybody playing this or have played it before? Could it ever be a replacement for CoH?
PLayed it when it first came out, stuck around for about 2 months and it became very BORING since my alts did exactly the same arcs to level. Well the exact same outside their own storyline. Since the awful announcement I have been playing on Beta just to see what "could have been."

I have also tried out about 4 different games (all the ones mentioned herein) and couldnt play more than 10 minutes. I will probably go back to SWTOR since it has been awhile and i may have forgotten the storylines. But after a couple months of that I think I am done with MMORPG's.

CoX was my first and by far my favorite and nothing else compares.
  4. I say open up the game to "investors." I would definitely be a willing investor in this game if that was what the "new, parent" studio was based on. Of course, I am working on something similar in my personal life for a business opportunity and I have been amazed at the number of people who are interested in owning a "share" of my idea.

Of course, getting that past the lawyers and the SEC has been a challenge but we are still working on it. I am definitely one of those players that would be willing to "invest" what I can on this endeavor as this has been one of my main sources of entertainment for nearly 7 years. If my investment also happened to coincide with a "lifetime" subscription and that subscription lasted even a few more years all the better!

Zwill and company if you guys do get to that point and are looking for player funding or investment please send me a pm. Oh and by the way, I love this community even though I dont post often!
  5. Well, i have been away on vacation the last week, walked into my hotel room Friday night after a glorious day at the US Open and opened the forums up for the first time in 5 days and had that horrifying moment we all had on Friday. . . My wife, just stared at me asking what happened (thinking I had an email from work or worse from our vets that something happened to our dogs). . . In the end, when I told her what had happened she asked me the best question. . . "well, what are you going to do."

My initial reaction was to delete everyone but my 2 or 3 mains. . . Even though I havent really had a main in years. I went through the list in my head of my 50+ characters and 20+ 50's and realized I couldnt delete them all.

I will be here on November 30th, may not play again until that day just because I am that upset by this move. By Darke be Damned will pull on his Cloak of Darkness, push his Quills to the limits, and be killing off Carnies until the servers go black. . . Unless, of course the devs are allowed to give us an epic sendoff and he is in Atlas 26 fighting hordes on Nems, Rularuu, and Preatorians in his final moments. ..

As any true warrior would say be the final battle, "It is a good day to die."

I just added it up: since Freedom launched I've put $700 into the market. Yikes! That number was a shock to see! When I did the math though, that's only about $15 a week. It's not half what I used to spend at restaurants and going out on the weekends... I'm actually saving money. So overall, considering how helpful this is to me as a pastime right now, I'm more than happy to give them extra cash to get extra stuff in return.

To see that this way is possible, and folks who don't want to pay any extra is also possible, and we're both benefitting more than under the old model... yeah I'd call that a success, I think.
Posts like this help me not to feel bad about the money I spent on this game. I dont stay home and take care of children, or an elderly parent, but I work 50-70 hours a week and my wife works that and then some so this is my entertainment. I dont spend money on much else outside of this game for entertainment purposes or recreational reasons. Add to that the fact I dont watch a lot of television and this is what I do for entertainment.

Let's see I think I have spent close to $600 - $700 since Freedom went live. And yes that is a quite a chunk of change but I also gave up fast food so I havent eaten at any of those places in well over a year. Those that spend $6 a day three times a week (or more) are outspending me easily!

When a melee character takes point and holds aggro it is MUCH better. No argument.
I have tried numerous dominators and been disappointed in most. Now way back when my fire/psy dom was a beast but nowadays she just doesn't feel so uber (even with enough recharge to overcome some of the nerfs on these sets). But the plant/dark has been on a roll and actually feels like she can dish out damage.

Everything I read said to pair fire with plant but it just didnt seem to work for some of the reasons you list above.
  9. Greetings all!

Well, after the last double exp weekend I found myself in possession of two characters that I dont read much about on the forums, dont see often in game, or was able to find builds for. Interesting that after nearly 7 years here I am still finding combos that are crazy fun to play and downright devastating in PVE (even before incarnates).

So what were my two hidden gems: Stone/Shield/Soul brute and a Plant/Dark/Mace dominator.

    What are your hidden gems?
  10. Thanks guys for taking a look. As I said, wasn't sure where to go with this build. My spines/dark scrapper I love and as soon as they port spines over to Brutes I will remake him and likely never play another toon again (hopefully, if they port the set over with whittling it away to nothing). I really enjoyed my Staff/Dark but the Fire/Dark is just hands down fun.

To be honest, i usually detoggle tough unless I am doing something crazy so that does save on end and I usually do run lvl 50+. Any tweaks you can recommend on build 1?
  11. Evening all,

Ok, I have been leveling up my Staff/Dark and my Fire/Dark brutes and have to say I find the Fire/Dark/Fire just to much fun. Plus I love her concept and costume and I have a weakness for /dark since my spines/dark scrapper was my main for almost 3 years!

Anyways, I know Dechs is the master of /Dark but would love anyone's input on the builds below. I have been running build #1 - which includes S/L softcap, +end to handle issues, decent resistance, and close to 30ish def to all.

However, while toying with mids I camp up with build number 2 and while it seems a little out there for me (I usually build around S/L softcap first then everything else) I was wondering how it would handle for the long haul.

    Any input is appreciated!

  12. I am right there with you SS; been here nearly 6 years and have a 50 in almost everything except a corrupter and defender. However, i just recently decided I would break down and get a defender up there. After a lot of research, a nice backstory, and a cool costume I went with my rad/sonic.

In 3 months, playing her off and on I am at level 38 and she is slowly grinding her way to be one of my favorites. Heck, i take her on TF's and the summer event over my other /rad's because she is just that fun. If I didnt have an addiction to alts (especially brutes) she would have been 50 and incarnated out already.

But I will say, I have been enjoying the ride with her and at 38 she is just about capped to S/L, and I can solo just about anything on +2 with her easily so I am enjoying her.
  13. So many radio stations had this on this morning as I was driving to work that I actually felt compelled to email and send my reaction. . . Which ultimately boiled down to this:

This heinous act was committed by a moron. .. I dont care what he was in school for, or how smart he was, or what political leaning he was. . . This man was a moron.

My wife will reaffirm this but I am not a strong proponent of humanity (though I work personally with people on a very intimate level every day) but I still believe that the vast majority of us are decent, honest, and morally "ok" individuals. We all have our faults and failings but what disgusts me most is that morons like this will be scrutinized, sanitized, and held up as a reason to do this or this with our country, with our populous, or with us an individuals.

I said it the day after September 11th, i would get on a plane immediately because I have that much faith in humanity. I will be attending Batman tomorrow with my wife knowing that everyone in that audience and that 99.999999% of people in this world would never, ever contemplate, let alone act like this vile excuse for a human being.

What about Death from the Sandman comics. . .
"When the first living thing existed I was there waiting. . . When the last living thing dies my job will be finished. I'll put the chairs on the tables, turn out the lights, and lock the universe behind me when I leave. . ."

That was something I used to carry in my wallet when I was kid. I always adored the image of Death locking the universe behind her like this was just another job. . . And she was always so "peachy!"

If she will be there when all others are gone, i definitely think that makes her the most powerful character.

    Which TW?

I deleted my level 50 TW/FA because he just wasn't as fun as I had intended. But I decided to give TW another try (and read through some of the pylon threads about it's incredible times) and I rolled up two builds. Now I am not so sure which direction I want to go.

It has been a long time since I rolled a WP brute and my EA stalker is a monster so I am stuck between these two builds. Any advice on which one to roll with and any ideas about the builds? I do have many of the IO's in storage for both builds so that isnt a concern.

  16. Have to say I have been following this thread since its inception. I had a SM/Fire brute that I rolled a couple issues back when I was worried SS/Fire/Mu or Soul would get nerfed with a steel baseball bat. I had fun playing it but the end was rough. Incarnate power helped but she still sits on the shelf while I still run my SS/Fire.

But after reading through this I rolled another brute, SM/Shield and I have to say this girl is just downright fun! Running in First Ward with her at level 28 and running at +1x5 and I havent died yet. Anytime I am in trouble hit fault, things fall down, get up woozy and I just continue to smash away.

SM may not be the beast of dps or even dpa but you cannot deny it is fun!

So, when is i24 coming out?
Hass I dont always agree with you but I am in complete agreement with you on this. Tried this trial 10 times, on 10 different teams, and have failed all 10. Even ran with a MO team and we missed the 3 AV's by 2 seconds. . . Undeterred we pressed on. . . Took down the raven B**** in 2 mins flat, had the Big Guy down to 12% hp and all of sudden. . . Bam, lightning storm, lights, and he was back at 30%. . .

For the first 5 minutes of the Tyrant fight no one died. . . No one. . . I died once the entire trial when I got stuck summoning PA and we averaged maybe 1 death per lightning storm. Tons of debuffs, and plenty of damage and another failure. 3 people who had the badge for the trial kept saying I dont see why we are failing this, this team did better than the team I succeeded on, and so on. . .

Sorry, I usually like a challenge but with limited time to play, this trial (other than farming it) wont be on my rotations at all.
  18. Was reading through the financial news and stumbled across this article.
    http://seekingalpha.com/article/6117...ndscape-part-1

Could this be trouble for things like Heroes/Villians pack and the paragon market?
  19. Ok, seriously people are complaining about a freebie? Really?

Whatever, cool idea, neat promotion and I doubt it will be anything of great significance but I will be here Thursday evening to check it out!
  20. Hmmm, healing sets on sale. . .May have to pick up a couple of these. The rest. . . Well, no thanks.

    Also, FPARN
  21. I stopped playing my plant/storm around level 32 because I just couldn't find a enjoyable way to play her. My plant/dark on the other hand took an 8 hour dbl exp blue pill and leveled from 30-50 before it ran out.

She is now 50+1 and runs DA missions at +1/8 and destroys everything in her path. Soft capped to everything but psi and incarnate capped to s/l by a mile she barely has time to call her pets. I ran a couple incarnate trials when she was 50 and she rarely got touches even when taking on spawns solo.

I have never had a toon that was the such fun to play. My poor staff/dark brute has been forgotten as well as my stable of toons.

Hmmm, should have read this before I submitted mine. Great idea.

I also, and badgers please dont hang me on this, suggested the ability to unlock badges accountwide. I had a badge toon I played for nearly 2 years and then inventions came out and I gave up on him because I had other toons that were more fun to play. Needless to say I have badges on those characters I never got on my badger and vice-versa. I also have toons with the 2nd year and so on anniversary badges that I cannot get on any other character. Sure would love to have all those transfer.

    Sf/da

Well not sure this would work for you but I have you capped to positional. Not sure how much fun I would have with this since I capped mine for S/L and as high as I could get on resistances but overall you should be fairly durable!

    Arch/MM/MM

After playing for nearly 6 years I still have yet to find a blaster I want to level. I did make one (an Arch/EM/Mu) that I leveled 2 years ago but he quickly was shelved. Looking at the build below I think it is time to yet again attempt to make a blaster and see if I enjoy him. I have most of the IO's stored in my SG base (EC's helped to fill 8 or so enhancement bins) but I was just wondering opinions.

I had to drop hasten to reach softcap on S/L/E/R and I know I will lose some of that defense once I attack with Stealth cut in half but just wondering what all of you think?

When you buy it it says it will trigger roughly 3 times per minute. Right there in the description. I bought the proc as it was on sale, slotted it, noticed the difference and read the description. Since it proc'ed more than the one I had already slotted, i bought several more while they were on sale and swapped out the in-game proc for the store bought proc.

Again, understand, I am not crying/whining about this, but I know several other people that noticed the difference and did the same thing. The proc on decimation hasnt been changed so why is this one and is there any compensation offered to those of us that bought something (as advertised) and then are told they are changing it.
