No post on this yet? Really?

The Season Two Premiere is TONIGHT!

Let's revisit the mystery of what the CDC guy whispered to Rick! I thought it was news of a pregnancy, but I might be wrong. It might be something more spoilery about the nature of TWD's zombieism.

Who else is excited for the new season?

Last year, I was too scared to have anything to do with TWD. Zombies are my biggest fear.

Fastforward a year. 1 Necro/dark MM later and reading the entire TWD comic series and the TV series, I'm ready to watch this!!!

So I'm watching the Walking Dead Marathon-- first time I've ever seen the show.

Are there any white guys who speak with a Southern accent who AREN'T racists, wife beaters, or wife beating racists?

The main character is a good guy. And the Deputy isn't a racist or married. In fact, I count only three racists and/or wife beaters in the main group.

I do hope you mean on the show or on TV and not in reality in the South.

The Deputy is, however, a giant ******.

Indeed, but he's not racist or a wife beater.

We just need them to meet Otis and he'll take at least one of those characteristics.

Gutting the Walker? That wasn't gutting. That took no skill whatsoever. True hunters know that you want to avoid slicing the stomach and/or intestines to avoid spoiling the meat. However, Darryl is a pretty good tracker. THAT takes skill.

They made a big deal about not making too much noise because that could attract the Walkers ... which apparently an automated ringing church bell did not.

And then Shane was about ready to shoot a deer ...?

I'm on duty with not a single TV near me. Luckily my phone has teh interwebz.

So looking forward to this, I watched the whole first season a cpl days ago on Netflix cause I knew season 2 was coming up.

Willpower has more passive regen than Regen does. Who thought that was a good idea?

Can we get a fix for Energy Melee instead of more new sets?

How far could that herd have gotten? Shamblers aren't exactly known for speed. Though granted, they do have redonkulous stamina, so they could keep going for a while. But that also begs the question of if that church bell was on a timer, why there t'weren't more deaders there.

And swallowing a woodchuck's head whole? Come on man, that's beyond the pale right there.

They've got plenty of food for the moment. As evidence by that stack of purloined goods by the RV. Lori's bit about the graveyard was pure idiocy. Those dead folks don't need that stuff any more. You'd think she'd be a bit more pragmatic about it.

Sure it might be a bit cliche for there to be a couple of wife-beater/racists in a random group from Georgia like this but it's hardly "every white guy on the show" and it's hardly a major part of the show regardless. If that's all you got from the first season of the show then I think you focused on something that wasn't really there.

Besides as a spoiler alert.....

The main "racist" and "wife beater" are both gone before the end of the first season finishes anyway. *shrugs*

Yeah Shane getting ready to make a bunch of noise shooting the deer was a bit dumb, but maybe there's a reason why the zombies weren't being attracted by the church bell. I think this episode was starting to show us that the zombies aren't 100% mindless. The whole thing with the "herd" of zombies makes me think they may have at least a tiny bit of animal-like instinct, kind of like a horde of locusts. Even though the bell was loud maybe they know enough to realize that wasn't a sound worth paying attention to. Basically they might be able to tell the difference between "food noise" and "non-food noise".

I figure most people watching this show wouldn't know they were gutting the zombie wrong.

And Lori's "this is a graveyard" statement was a bit melodramatic. But I saw it as a vague attempt to remind everyone to try to hang onto a bit of respect for the dead like "civilized" people would. She didn't really object once they did start scavenging the cars - she just wanted to make sure the people didn't get carried away with it.

At this point, the thread should be considered spoiler-full, even thought I can't change the title.

REDUNDANT SPOILER ALERT:

So, since I doubt we'll find Sophia in a non-dead or zombified state, they essentially wiped out both kids in the premiere! Yes, I know Carl will make it (for some amount of time, anyway), but still... DAMN.

Great opener though, and the helicopters in the "upcoming scenes" make me thing some kind of civilization survived somewhere in North America.

Also, can someone refresh my memory, how did Dale "take away" Andrea's decision? Was she going to stay in the CDC and he said he wouldn't leave without her or something? My memory is fuzzy on that. I do disagree with keeping her gun from her. As long as she's not a threat to the group, she entitled to a weapon (especially her OWN damn gun!) In fact, I was wondering why everyone wasn't armed as they scavenged the traffic pile-up. Except in the case of a huge zombie herd, it would have be much safer.

Yeah threads like these usually become unavoidably spolier filled. Comes with the territory.

Anyway I think we'll find that whoever shot the deer (and apparently by accident Carl as well) managed to find Sophia in the woods and she'll still be alive. Whether the shooter turns out to be friendly or not remains to be seen.

As far as the helicopters in the "upcoming scenes" goes we already know Rick saw a helicopter flying over Atlanta in the first season so there's been a hint that some kind of civilization survived for a while now.

And basically when Andrea decided to commit suicide at the CDC Dale sat down with her and claimed he would not leave without her. In the last few seconds she decided she didn't want to be the reason Dale killed himself too so she ran out. Obviously she's still mad at him for "tricking" her like that.
