Its safe to say that knowing how protective Lori is...she would have flipped out if she realized Carl was going through vehicles.
I think some are still missing the point with the "Carl takes the tools from the corpse" scene. I still contend (like I mentioned several weeks ago) that it was an obvious homage to the "Conan taking the Atlantan sword from Crom" scene. If you watch this video I linked to from the Conan movie I'd focus in on the last 2 minutes of it and compare it to the way Carl takes the tools from the truck-corpse. They're similar right down to the body shifting after the item in question is taken.

Now of course this scene was a bit hamfistedly translated to the Walking Dead, but it's unmistakable that it's a point in Carl's character development where we see that he's willing to face his fears and take what he wants from this messed up ZA world. Sure if you were to apply current non-ZA hyper-anal parenting to this scene then yes you could ask "why the hell would Rick and Lori let Carl wander off like that in the first place?" But honestly as silly as a lot of the writting for this show has been this was hardly the worst "doesn't make any sense" moment and it served the purpose of giving Carl a nice character building moment.

New question;

Your're done for. End of the line. Zombie came outta the blue and took a chunk outta you while you slayed it.
Your 2nd in command raises his gun to finish you off.

What do you say?

Conan homage or no (I agreed last time you pointed this out and great observation)...its just the epitome of lazy storytelling and lazy parenting.

Thanks CF, thats my new thing now

Give me a few hours to run a LRSF and some farming before we have to take care of business.

**edit**
CoH should definitely buy some spots on the show and have game boxes strewn about on the floor of any store they raid for supplies from now on.
Maybe even see Glenn/Maggie getting it on...on top of Statesman/Lord Recluse.

Coming up with a fun catch phrase is fine enough. But the problem with claiming EVERYTHING in a TV show is the epitome of lazy storytelling and lazy parenting is that you quickly neuter the meaning of the word "epitome". It's sort of like how some people say everything is "awesome" - if everything was described as being awesome then what would you call something that was -really- awesome.

The irony in this case is that there are some truly legitimate examples of lazy storytelling and lazy parenting in this TV show. But when you try to gloss over the good parts pretending that it's ALL bad then I think you're doing a disservice to what makes the TV show worthwhile. Especially when you consider the comic book itself is far from being the epitome of great storytelling. In fact the more of the comic I manage to read the more I'm realizing it's got plenty of those failings of its own. Basically neither the TV show nor the comic are "that much better" than the other in these regards. They both ultimately have their own strengths and weaknesses and always will.

Well ideally I'd tell my friends to give me a dose of the zombie virus cure we found at Fort Benning.

But if I got attacked before we had the cure then I guess I'd want to strap some dynamite to my vest and wade into a huge group of walkers and blow them all away. At least that would spare my friends from having to take the personal responsibility of having to pull the trigger on me themselves.

I simply exhausted my day's store of patience this morning on an actual family matter, to the point where I don't feel like tolerating all the passive aggressive comments.

Sorry to hear about the family issue and hope it all works out.

It didnt involve zombies did it? (just trying to tie my well wishes into the content of the thread)

Before you get too bent out of shape, Foamy, I'm just trying to lighten to mood. No offense passive or aggressive intended.

This is what happens when seasons are broken into two parts.

I really hate the mid-season break nonsense that's taken off in the last few years.
First show I recall doing this was Heroes, now it seems every single show I want to watch... only shows 5 episodes a year...

Psych
Eureka
Walking Dead

All take months off in the middle of a season. So lame.

I've all but given up on TV for this reason, and a myriad of others. In fact, last night I went ahead and deleted Psych and Eureka from my season pass just because it's to frustrating having an entire season dumped onto my Tivo everytime they come back, since they have to remind us whats been going on...

Looks like, from here on out, I'll be enjoying my shows 1 full season at a time.
On DvD.

The half season business is for cable shows that carry a smaller audience in general, and that audience plummets severely when the "real" networks kick in with their normal schedules and draw off viewers.

So you see these little blurb seasons during holiday and off-peak times when a lot of network shows are on hiatus.

which is why i loved 24. No stopping once it's season started, no matter what, a new episode every week until the finale.

Even the big shows are doing the 2 month break mid season, there were two years in a row that they had good reason for it, one was the winter olympics and one was when they had the writers strike, I can see taking a week off for thanksgiving and christmas and new years but these 2 month hiatuses are just grrrrrrr annoying.

Cancel the kitchen scraps for widows and lepers, no more merciful beheadings and call off christmas!
