Starting this thread early because I'm excited.

Really looking forward to this, hope it lives up to the hype (although most spoiler free reviews I've read have said that it's great).

I hope that it is epic! Posting in this thread now to find it easily after the episode in 30 minutes!

So seeing River with the redacted, I'm wondering if she really is the redacted that is also redacted her redacted. And if River and redacted are the same redacted, when did she redacted her redacted? River supposedly died at the Library and she had both of her redacted then.

Does that mean River was redacted from the Library and eventually becomes redacted? If so what happened to make her redacted the Doctor? Could killing the Doctor actually be a plot by River to save him? Is it possible that the redacted River redacted herself as a redacted to trick the Silence into believing she killed the Doctor while in reality she was betraying them?

Wow and Rory being a badass continues.

"You'll need to remove your eyepatch before it activates."

"It already has..."

That was a corker of an episode!

That was extremely disapointing. A huge build up for rubbish

I disagree. While I cannot quote it on the forums due to language, my words for Steve Moffat were the same as Pattons words about Rommel, in that thar movie.

Do not go gentle into that good night.
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.

I absolutely loved it!

I had a huge grin on my face, and I loved the "solution" that the Doctor had.

I'm utterly amazed that this didn't actually explain anything though, I never expected the Moff to go for a trilogy!

Next Series will need to be REALLY good to beat this and it will also have to have an incredible reveal at the end...

While the solution to the Doctor's death was obvious as soon as it was presented, the getting there was great. Rory continues to be all sorts of awesome. Amy had some great moments. All in all, I thoroughly enjoyed it.

The one thing that had really disappointed me through the whole run of the new Dr Who was the absence of the Brigadier. I was glad that they finally acknowledged just how large a part he had played in the Doctors life.

However, it turned out that Smith was not a time-travelling Terminator

Enjoyed that. Though his death throes looked very silly.

Do you mean the weird squirming he did in the timeline that he didn't get shot in?

Yeah, not sure if it was deliberately that bad or not.

I know they have wanted the Brigadier to return several times in the New Who but due to his poor health he had to pass up the opportunity each time before he sadly passed away.

It was.

I've been watching classic Who, and I really enjoyed the 3rd Doctor's run. Although they had a prickly relationship, you could tell that they both had a mutual respect and later on a real friendship. The way they played off each other was one of the highlights of the 3rd Doctor's run, and whenever you got to see him return was always a delight.
It was such a shame that he never got to appear in NuWho in some way, although he did get to appear in the Sarah Jane Adventures (which, of course features another of the dearly missed from that time) which is something I suppose.

<sigh> Still waiting on Itunes to send me this episode.

Karen Gillan would be an absolutely perfect live-action Molotov *ahem*tease, what with the eyepatch.

I don't know how I feel about the episode. There were a lot of good moments all piled together, but piling good things together doesn't necessarily make a good thing - like nacho cheese on Nerds on ice cream on pizza. I feel somewhat dissatisfied and I'm not entirely sure why.

Goodbye may seem forever
Farewell is like the end
But in my heart's the memory
And there you'll always be

I enjoyed the episode, the hint at the big reveal for next season..and I have to say Karen Gillan is somehow managing to look more attractive with every passing episode! Tonight she was absolutely beautiful, even with an eyepatch!

Because the robot Doctor was at the epicenter of the disturbance.

Because the fixed point wasn't to be the Doctor dying but really was the robot getting shot to look like the Doctor was killed.

I'd say it was definitely meant to look that silly. It's worse if you have to imagine what it'll feel like.

I take no credit for this thought, but it was pointed out to me why is it when the robot doctor is shot he tries to regenerate before he is shot again?

Really enjoyed this episode. I was slightly worried how where they going to get it all done in the single episode rather than the usual 2 part finale we've become used to. Oddly if anything it felt better paced and more leisurely than many of the 2 parters, which seemed to be paced as 'it's okay we have 2 episodes to get this done... oh crap we're down to the last 5 minutes, quick get everything tidied away before the credits roll!' . As Kiken said it wasn't that hard to work out how they were going to do it but it was fun getting there.

It was a nice touch the reference to Nicholas Courtneys death.

I think it's only the second confidential I've watched all series (the other probably being the opener) but I'm glad I did. The River Song history as told by her was nicely done. Oddly, even though I'd forgotten before now, I recall how much I didn't like her when she was introduced in the library as another love interest of the doctor. Now I think the doctor who universe would be a poorer place without her.

And not to mention the return of the Fez...

I imagine it was all just a simulation put on by the Teselecta to sell it as real. I don't see how a shape shifting robot that can replicate a working motorcycle can't produce a little bit of a light show. They saw Melody regenerate right in front of them so they had reference to work from.

/agree, Rory is really getting to be a favourite character.

And Amy... well, definite flashbacks to River and the Dalek while they were doing the whole Pandorica bit.

LITTLE bit of a copout ending... but it works, too.

Itunes finally sent me the episode and it was great.

I agree with the early reviews that said it's great, if you don't think too hard about it. I loved it in the moment, but in the after-hours, reading what others had said about it, I realized how very much was wrong about the episode. There's a lot to not like. But I'm glad we got all the answers we did, though it's surprising that Moffat is leaving plot threads from Smith's first season still running into his third (we still don't know why/how The Silence blew up the TARDIS in last season's finale). I'm glad it didn't end on a whopping cliffhanger. I'm happy with what I got, though I wish I didn't have to "timey wimey!" away so much of it. (don't get me wrong, I loved the episode... this post just sounds critical)
