I think the moral of this story is be careful what you wish for!
I recently commented to a friend that I never post much because I tended not to be on either extreme of any 'discussion' where two opposing factions were tearing each others throats out in a bid to convince the other side they were correct, and so my posts tended to get passed by unnoticed...
Anyway, I still think the example shown looks silly. Maybe other variations might float my boat a bit more, who knows. The mechanic behind it sounds interesting, only time will tell if I like it (the previous mechanics tied into sets have been a bit hit and miss, I think). In my defense I might point out I never said they shouldn't. I was, and until I see it in action probably still am, unconvinced as to whether it was different enough to what is already in game to warrant a whole new powerset being built around it, though my wording could have been better to get that point across. -
I'd like to apologise unreservedly to anyone who was incensed by my less than positive assessment of the above mentioned epic new powerset. When I first heard talk of titan weapons I imagined all sorts of options that could fall under this heading, bloody big swords just wasnt one of them.
To be fair I guess I should have expanded the "I don't understand why the devs would bother to waste time on these." part. It's a melee weapons set, maybe I'm missing a trick here but I'm assuming it's going to act very like BS except with a bigger sword. While waste and time perhaps was too strong it doesn't feel different enough to what already exists. Why do they need a completely new set for that? Why not just offer bigger weapons as a selection within BS?
If the damage is relating to weapon size BS does a fair bit, these would need to be one shotting EBs if size matters. -
I've seen a lot of people going on and on about titan weapons, I wondered what the reference was from and why people got so excited. Now I've seen the initial pics and understand what they mean I have to say... WTF! I'm confused now why anyone would find them awesome in any way shape or form.
I don't understand why the devs would bother to waste time on these. Part of me thinks maybe it's just a cheap and easy way of adding a silly new powerset to appease the players but I suspect there had to be some serious clipping issues to overcome given their size so maybe not so easy.
As they're so titan they should have a titan price on the market, 1600 points. -

Quote:You're never going to be taken seriously on these forums with your reasonable, mild mannered approach. You gotta get angry! You gotta get mean!I'm in Poland, and I've not really noticed much downside to being an EU player, tbh. One afternoon last week I logged in to find i had to wait an hour for maintenence to end, but that's about it. When there's extended maintenece, I don't think 'Oh, those sneaky Americans aren't experiencing this!', since people play at all hours, I know. I'm sure there are night workers out there who are used to playing from 3-6am in the States who are sometimes 'aaargh, sderver maint!'. The servers are down for the same amount of time for everyone.
I personally don't need to enter the ciompetitions either.

Quote:This looks really fun except... you guessed it... we're not entitled to join it. So if you don't reside in the Good Ol' NA, then you won't be winning 5 years game time, or getting Matt Miller to give you a haircut or any of that cool stuff.Quote:What do you expect, we are from the EU, second class customers. If we want an event or competition, we'll have to make one ourselves.
I may like the thought of 5 years free game time (that's optimism for you) but tying it inextricably to getting Matt to give me a short back and sides is a big no no. No offense to Matts ability to coiffure but they couldn't give me enough game time to this or any other game to make me agree to that, and I don't even put much thought into how my hair looks! -

Quote:Am I that transparent Carni? Hmm, maybe not... *checks computer for Carnivirus*!You're one of those people who finishes RPGs with 100 Potions of Heal Everything and your Staff of Hideous Agony still fully charged and unused in your inventory, aren't you Cry?
I spent my freebies on bits and bobs, but I'm in the same boat with regards to buying points, I've plenty of disposable income but I haven't seen anything I want to spend actual cash on.
Okay I admit it, I tend to horde uber items for a rainy day in RPGs. Problem being that rainy day tends to exist on the far side of the end credits! -
Quote:I can't decide if I fall into both categories or neither. I have the disposable income if I really wanted to go wild on the fluff from the marketplace, but I generally think the non sale prices are a bit OTT. I still have the majority of my 'free' points, which I'll spend when I feel the time is right, or never, whichever comes sooner! There are two player sides to the debate over the Paragon Market prices.
1) Those who think the prices, for the most part, are set too high for the perceived value of the object(s) in question. I myself fall into this camp.*
2) Those with disposable income such that buying anything at the PM that might strike their fancy (or their WANT IT NAO!!! button) is a mere trifle. These folks are likely also accustomed to these types of transactions from other games and accept them as they are. -
Quote:Yes, though to be fair it's usually about my own spelling. I suspect when I'm not looking that someone randomly rearranges the letters on my keyboard.
So you have a pet peeve about bad spelling in chat?
Hmm, I might give that a try, "Me sorry, me not spell so good, me english not me first language". Yeah that could work! -
It's street justice, it's never just enough.

I'd say it was definitely meant to look that silly. It's worse if you have to imagine what it'll feel like.
Quote:Because the fixed point wasn't to be the Doctor dying but really was the robot getting shot to look like the Doctor was killed.
Really enjoyed this episode. I was slightly worried how where they going to get it all done in the single episode rather than the usual 2 part finale we've become used to. Oddly if anything it felt better paced and more leisurely than many of the 2 parters, which seemed to be paced as 'it's okay we have 2 episodes to get this done... oh crap we're down to the last 5 minutes, quick get everything tidied away before the credits roll!' . As Kiken said it wasn't that hard to work out how they were going to do it but it was fun getting there.
It was a nice touch the reference to Nicholas Courtneys death.
I think it's only the second confidential I've watched all series (the other probably being the opener) but I'm glad I did. The River Song history as told by her was nicely done. Oddly, even though I'd forgotten before now, I recall how much I didn't like her when she was introduced in the library as another love interest of the doctor. Now I think the doctor who universe would be a poorer place without her.
And not to mention the return of the Fez... -
I'm amazed anyone even noticed gold sellers in the help chat, last time I looked at that channel there was that much spam you couldn't even spot the people looking for help.

Technically it's not actually been every day, this is only the 2nd? downtime this week, it just feels like it's been every day for the last while.
Unfortunately downtime is just a fact of life, but in the scheme of things 2hrs beats the 8 and 12hr monsters we've had lately, and I'd much prefer my downtime at this time of the afternoon (my time) compared to running it into late evening/night.
Saying that I was just tampering with a cossie so was a little surprised when I got kicked (I hadn't seen the announcement), I'm hoping the save I made just before took. -
Either fashionably or horribly late, especially given the announcement re intended changes to the forums.
I've never understood why 'General Discussions' and 'Suggestions and Ideas' are in the For Fun section. General Discussions to me, given it's CoH specific, I feel would be more suited to the 'News, Events & Announcements' section. Having the ''Suggestions and Ideas' in the 'For Fun' feels a little like they're being ignored, not that generally 99+% of these will never be considered anyway (I think). -
This and indeed this. Can't speak for the Oceanic Lounge but the EU lounge is a desolate wasteland of inactivity for the most part.

Quote:I want mine in flashing magenta with the word "GIT" underneath!Quote:don't worry mate. Even if we can't see it, it's how we all think of you so you've got your wish
Actually, thinking about it, I want to be able to select which posters names flash and a selection of descriptions to chose from. That way whenever I'm logged in and scanning through a 400 post thread I can easily spot who's who! -
Quote:Apologies for being a little late to the party but...Actually, you can argue against the request for compensation: it's rather unreasonable. You KNEW there would be lots of maintenance going on in preparation for when Freedom goes official. I mean, they had to. They were going to be dealing with a server load approaching exponential levels of magnitude, and there's of course all the bugs and fixes that go on as well.
So you're wanting compensation for downtime we all knew was going to happen anyway?
Eh?
Are NCSoft really expecting all how ever many million wow players are playing at the moment to suddenly decide they've been wrong all these years and feel an over compelling urge to jump ship to a new world devoid of orcs and trolls (ingame I mean) and log in to CoH en mass? -
Warm weather! Who got warm weather? I demand warm weather NOW!

I think it's a great idea, watch something in the launcher to get free stuff in game. That's assuming of course that they have no way to prove I'm not actually sitting at my desk at the time!
