There has been quite a few maintenances this month. Always duriing primary gaming time for me and many others. I understand that a few are neccesary for an issue but NCSoft, you are overdoing it.

So I am with Floating Fatman here. I want to be compensated. Since this is past what I consider reasonable downtime for a new issue.

I doubt that would be better, but if some guarantee were worthcoming I'm sure it could be arranged.

They never said the location is being upgraded.

For all we know they could be going from a Penthouse in a 6-story building to the couch in someone's basement :P

Doesn't really matter to me where their servers are as long as they run properly

I agree this is beyond reasonable DT for a new issue- but this is more than an issue. This is effectively a whole relaunch of the game. You ALWAYS over-estimate your server specs in terms of load- and they probably didn't with the last round. Or they don't feel comfortable with what they have so they erred on the side of caution.

I hate to sound snotty, but this is a US-based company. The majority of the subscribers are in North America, so any upgrades are going to be planned accordingly to minimize impact on the that portion of your users. You can't minimize impact for everyone, just not possible. Sadly that means EU players get screwed. Regrettable- YES. Unavoidable? Not really.

Asking for refunds/game time will never get you anything, ever in any game. The EULA we all agree to kills that idea right there. I'm sure the Devs wil come up with something in-game, but beyond that you are dreaming.

Thank god for that.

Wait, this is a good thing, right?

I kind of doubt it. What we will get is more emergency maintenance shortly after the servers are back, and then on and off for the next 1-2 weeks. If we're "lucky", they might even do a Saturday one again.

I knew it wouldn't be long before someone rolled out the EULA.

Y'know, sometimes it's not about the RULES you agree to. Sometimes it has to be about keeping paying customers happy. You know, the buggers who make it possible for you to continue to exist as a company.

Not to be the one who points out the elephant in the room all too often.. but since we pay and they wont, that's -technically- not true..

I still dont see why the actual times for the downtimes can't alter every other month or so..

I mean we (the EU players) was assured again, and again, and again, and again, before the serverlist-merge that we where not going to be too heavily affected by changed maint-times and we would "not be treated as second class players"... but the FACT is, that we ARE being treated as such and your promises has fallen flat on our heads..

I said what I had to say, Zwill responded the best way he could, folks took exception to the "impact" on the premium and free players (which is to say, none, since they don't pay for things), and others griped about the griping...

I'm done with this thread.

See y'all in another thread!

(I'll still lurk here in case someone says something awesome bad or awesome good)

/agree
also lets fix the bugs created when new stuff is out first then make more new stuff?

maybe if we didnt list merge then each time zone could have its own downtime that wouldnt effect that timezones player base too much. and yes its a NA company but its a globally sold game.........

Sorry, but from my point of view, with the exception of the downtimes that overran or were beyond 4 hours in duration, i still feel that the downtimes are aimed to not affect EU prime time.

VERY rarely have they actually aimed for a downtime to actually start in EU peak time and proceed from there... practically every single occasion that it has affected EU peak time it has been due to an overrun of a shorter downtime, or it was an extended downtime (ie more than 6 hours in length).

This is why i actually dont get wound up over the "But you promised that we wouldnt get downtimes in our peak time"...

Hell, i remember when the game launched that our downtimes were *generally* in the time range that we are having now, and this was also to match up with the US playerbase for when Issues/general patches were released (we also had at that point in time our own patches to cope with the differences in client).

Our old "regular" downtimes were from 8am till 10am, and Wentworths/Blackmarket would go down on Mondays and Fridays between the hours of 2pm and 4pm (to match with the US downtimes).

Ok, so now the *regular* downtime has shifted foward by 4 hours (12 midday till 2pm), and it wont hit peak time unless there were problems...

*shrugs* Yes, this one sucks, and i do think that for all 8/10/12+ hour downtimes... but i honestly do not think that the EU are being unfairly picked on... (Ok, more competitions that we can enter would be nice, more official player meets as well )

Hell for once think about the poor Oceanic players....

FWIW, it's not "just" EU folks getting hit with this.

I work second shift, essentially. So, this guts pretty much all of my gaming time (unless I have one of those "can't sleep" nights.)

THAT said (and yes, I agree it's getting to feel like a bit much ATM,) look at when the downtime starts: 3:30 AM Central (which should be where the servers are, IIRC.) So they're coming *in* earlier than that, and "looking forward to" a 12 hour day if not longer of messing with this. They're not doing this for fun, they certainly don't want to stay later than they have to. Frankly, that looks like a downright *miserable* day.

(Did they actually say they were *moving* hardware? Been there, done that, makes a not fun day even less so.)

What I *would* suggest, since this is probably part of a series (hopefully the end) in a staged upgrade/deployment, is that if PS/NC knows in advance they'll have to do a series of upgrades - get the schedule out to the playerbase ahead of time. "Hey, guys, we're going to be doing a LOT of server upgrades, expect long downtimes for the next few thursdays, check back for hours."

Thank you for upgradin' the servers.

Much obliged, Paragon Studios.

Keep up the great work.

Too many downtimes. Its nice seeing effort being made to work on the servers finally but you guys need to do ALL maintenance on thursday. Stop doing it on tuesday as well. It's getting a bit excessive having 2 - 3 downtimes every week.

I accept that downtime is needed to upgrade and maintain the servers.

But I am disappointed that there has been so much of it lately. Since we are not privy to what happens most of the time, I have the impression that they made an error in their projections.

They might not have made an error. They may have been waiting for parts or otherwise had already planned to have multiple downtimes for other good reasons. But since I don't know the reasons my silly human brain makes up reasons on their behalf. And my silly human brain tends to think the worst.

I keep saying it. Spontaneous Double XP event. It'd also help futher beta test these server upgrades by attracting more load while it's on.

Hopefully things will get better soon, since yes, there has been a LOT of unscheduled downtime lately.

Pretty much, and the actual one time I get lucky enough to get picked and actually win at the paper, rock, scissors system one of the mods was using last time, I get completely shafted and told to reroll because she wasn't paying attention - despite the fact that several people confirmed the roll was simultaneous (which led to getting jacked around for a good half hour, waiting while she came up with a different system several times until finally going home empty-handed).
So yeah, as far as I'm concerned they can keep their downtime "events".
