Paragon Rewward's Celestial Armor Set is Uber Cool!

Very impressive. This is just one set of options you can do. Really great job on this one. I look forward to seeing how others use these parts in-game.

Agreed. I'm just still not impressed that it was Tier 9 VIP locked. Surely something so cool should be available for everyone to make good use of. Not the 'Oh, we think it's disingenuous to the artists, and you have to be this cool to use it' BS that was used on the Incarnate armour...

They're too shiny, and they distort the colors you pick for them. The glowing parts are cool though.

Issue 16 made me feel like this.

Still annoyed by the lack of:

Celestial Shield
Celestial Bow
Celestial Claws
Celestial Katana

The armour pieces take colour really weirdly and it makes it a bit hard to match with other metal parts.

The flaming backpiece though is awesome, and I love the Celestial Eye Aura.

I think it's more "This is so cool that everyone will want it, so let's use it as an incentive for people to work up to T9 VIP quickly".

I'd like the set, myself, especially that back piece, but I'm not about to spend $100+ to get there instantly. They'll come back around eventually.

If purely money was the aim, why not simply make it a booster pack? That way MORE people would have been tempted to drop money on it instantly, and more new people would as well when Freedom proper goes live.

Rather than 'charging' a stupidly high price if one doesn't have high enough Vet rank. Which puts me in mind of the miniature company Games Workshops current business mode; charging obscenely high prices that the die-hards will pay, rather than lowering the prices back to the old, reasonable ones and enticing many, MANY more new players to buy stuff. I....utterly fail to see how the latter will not be more profitable, in both short AND long terms.

Yes, it is very cool... but I will probably never see it on one of my characters.

Despite having been around the game and keeping up-to-date on it for over 4 years, my subscription time is only about 28 months. To get the required number of Reward Tokens for access to anything Tier 9 is either around 2 years of accruing monthly Reward Tokens, or over $300 in Paragon Points purchases (which simply is not going to happen). By the time I enjoy the Tier 9 rewards, CoH2 will probably be thriving.

Logically, once the Celestial Armor gets rotated out of Tier 9, it will get put up for purchase on the Market, most likely at a higher price than other costumes. That's just good business: you give the VIPs the shiny stuff first, they run around with the shiny stuff and spread envy amongst their peers, then once it has run its course, you make it available for everyone to purchase and give the VIPs new shiny stuff, starting the cycle all over again.

If the aforementioned happens, I will probably purchase a few pieces from the set. For now though, I am stuck with envy towards the Tier 9 reward holders, and slight disdain toward the powers-that-be for making something like that inaccessible for most players (even if only temporarily).

Do i think the set looks really cool? Yes
Do i have a ton of concepts that could use the costume pieces? Yes
Does the set lose its cool factor due to being tier 9 VIP? For me, yes.

Yeah, that's ridiculous to . . . um . . .
I dropped $100 on points yesterday.
I'm a loser.

actually, celestial does have me kind of conflicted. i got it, woo, looks amazing. but it is a very long time commitment to gate costume stuff behind. i thought boxing was excessive, this is twice as long as boxing was. Its a great set, i love it, but I'd really rather that any art assets be available to everyone(even if gated by content, though i realize thats not cool with everyone) but i am concerned with the "rotating rewards" thing. more stuff like this, as great as this seems like it might actually depress some players, its looks nearly unattainable, heck, i'd be ticked if i hadn't gotten it. just some food for thought for any reading dev, lets make sure everyone can enjoy the fruits of your work, i dont need exclusive stuff in return for being here 7 years, i got to play for those 7 years thats all the reward i need. its better for the community to not do this, in my opinion, natch.

I love the set too. Get it while it's hot. The Celestial Beam Rifle looks killer!

Anyway, I think the Tier 9 VIP items are going to be cycled out, and possibly back in again, and then out again later. I bet that at *some* point it ends up on the normal store, but not after its done some time doing its Tier 9 VIP duty.

Wow, amazing costumes guys. The axe/mace, pistols and rifle are nicely done, does anyone have a pic of the celestial sword by chance?

I think tier 7 should be more than enough to unlock it.
Between 4 or 5 years paying for the game its more than enough to be threated like a very loyal customer this time beign.
Yep, the armour is uber cool, but tier 9? Thats too elitist...

I think the set is pretty nifty, but ugh, for whatever reason I cannot stand those boots. I've already gotten some mileage out of the aura and wings (only had 1 token left after filling Tier 8), and the weapons look pretty sweet.

I'm 3 tokens into filling tier 8... Even that has Celestial feeling out of reach for me. Shame to, so many toons could use some of those pieces...

Though, it does have me curious. With such an extravagant initial offering, I can't imagine what's going to replace it when it gets rotated.

I'm not a big fan of the toe-beaks, knee-fans, hand-shells, head-wings, and axe-backwards bits*. The rest pictured here looks good, though. I'd buy it if it were a regular costume pack. I think I would need 8 tokens to get it now, though, and that ain't happening soon.

* - I like the boots aside from the toe-beak and knee-fan, I like the forearm part of the gloves, I like the helmet aside from the head wings, and the axe is fine forwards.

Agreed. It's cool but not a couple hundred dollars worth of cool (man, I can't even type that with a straight face). I miss buying stuff as boosters rather than having it dangled in front of me. "VIP? Yes, but not VIP enough!"

Wonder how we'd feel if we didn't even have the option to buy it NAO. If it was attached to the old Vet Rewards, as the 90 month reward. Then it would truly be out of reach for most.

Still not saying I agree with putting such a lust worthy set so out of reach for most, just giving reasons why it could be. If we saw the Celestial set running around as much as we're seeing Rocket Boards, it would kind of deflate the significance of the set.
