Thanks, Hyper!

Keep it up, folks. Something's gotta keep my attention while I wait for the servers to come back up.

What EXACTLY do you expect them to do besides give you a long string of "Not fixed yet"s capped by a "fixed, servers coming back up"?

Common sense instead of self entitlement please.

Anyone got a running total on extra downtime in the past 30 days? I'm willing to bet it's more than 24 hours by now.

Well, after finally reading this entire thread, I'm guess you're lucky you decided to be civil with me. I had just gotten on and found CoH wasn't working.

Holy unstable server! Wow.

Great. DCed during a Moonfire and now I can't log back in to the server. Awesome.

Honestly, I've learned my lesson. After so many muck ups I don't bother getting on the game days they do maintenance and upgrades. I tried getting on when the last issue launched and it sucked balls. So now I even avoid playing the game for a week after a new launch. For cripe sakes praetorias still bugged to hell.

It happens so frequently I can't even be bothered with getting upset.

This is all quite true, and approaching it philosophically will make getting through the short term easier. And yet...

But those problems *will be temporary.*
What evidence do we have for this supposition? If anything, a pattern may be starting to emerge, as this is not the first time of late in which Paragon has had severe server problems. Moreover, the general circumstances are less likely to improve, given the imminent new issue, major change to the game, and (presumed) mass influx of new and returning players. Now is precisely not the time to start making the natives restless.

My common sense tells me that at the present, I am a subscriber to City of Heroes and therefore am entitled to access to the game for which I have paid. Every minute that I am unexpected cut off from this is money wasted.

When the game switches to a hybrid MTX-subscription model, that will change. For CoH Freedom, a connection to the basic game will be free, i.e. commercially valueless, and VIP benefits such as numerous character slots, Going Rogue, priority queues, et al. will be what we'll spend our money on. Since its launch has slipped unexpectedly, now is an entirely appropriate time to expect proper access.

In any case, I'm off to go watch a movie or play a solo computer game or something. I've experienced worse with other MMO studios, but I've come to expect better from Paragon Studios.

Server load two orders of magnitude greater? Oh, you meant to say "number of users". Completely different and tosses your point out the window. Carry on.

Yes it is the forum and people do have the right to their opinion I've not seen where anyone is flaming the devs. However I started only a short time ago and this kind of thing drove me away from another game I used to play because every week there was a major crisis. I'm not saying it will happen here but 2 weeks in a row doesn't give me a good feeling. I like this game I really do, but I"m hoping this will be the last of the extensive down times.

To put things in some perspective here, this is probably the most downtime that CityOf has had in...well, ever? It's also the first time to my knowledge that they've been messing with server hardware to any great degree.

Put in context of CoH uptime vs other game uptime, I'd bet heavily on CoH being amongst the best for being up far, far more than it's down. Given the changes in server hardware, I don't think the current up-down-ness is honestly that unreasonable. If it helps Freedom come up smoother, so be it I say.

Look, I dig... Complaining doesn't make anything go faster. But, some people like to complain. AND, some people like to make fun of complainers.

The service has been down more lately, and attrocious since Sunday. So, whatever they need to iron out before Freedom Launch, let them get to it.

You see here, this, THIS is exactly what I'm talking about. You don't know me, how long I've played CoH/V, what my background is...

Heck, you don't even know my physical characteristics to afford you the pleasure of figuring out if insulting me is a wise decision or simply a sad and pathetic attempt to brandish your E-member immediately prior to it be removed from your ethereal person.

So, some folks will sit there, gingerly wiping their cheetos-stained fingers on the moist lemon-scented cleansing square before touching their only link to the outside world; where they feel akin to gods, heroes, warriors bold... They rant and rave about nothing and everything, secure in the knowledge that the technology has not yet been made that may threaten them in their little village of a dominion.

I find it laughable and sad that some are compelled, nay, FORCED to bestow upon us, the unwashed masses, their gentle pearls of wisdom and jewels of expository logic. These same said souls wouldn't know a kind word or a meaningful interpersonal relationship not bestowed by a relative or something they have to inflate.

So, go ahead, continue your diatribes and little venom spewing parties... Continue to lay down your frillions of stories, anecdotes, musings, rants and nonsensical ravings. It wastes no one's time who will miss it.

We play a "game." It is, in and of itself, a time waster. Should the game dissolve into the ether tomorrow, and, as Shakespeare said, "leave not a rack behind," we will, by and large, find a new time waster to busy ourselves with.

That being said, I would appreciate this time waster to be available to me as quickly as possible.

That they've upgraded servers before, had server issues before, and had them ironed out in a reasonable timeframe so that people can be shocked that it happens now when they're upgrading the servers?

My point was this was where the other games started then they started doing big hardware and server updates and then the problems started. The game was down at least once a week. I say they need to give us something for what we have paid, my opinion, you may not agree and you have that right but I also have the right not to be shot down.

Glad to know I'm not the only one who got curbstomped on Justice.

Rolled up a new character there (deciding to branch out on servers), managed to get to level 2 when it decided to disconnect me. Couldn't get back in.

Curiously, all servers are listed as 'down' on the server status page.

Well said that man.

As an aside to that, anyone who finds my cynical typings to be of personal offence...well, you'll have to get across the pond, first
