It's also a fact that one of CoX's selling points up till recently was its relative reliability. As a result of the past month or so, that selling point is no longer valid. The 800-lb gorilla, with a server load two orders of magnitude greater, has had better overall uptime for the month of August.

That's not bugs, that's a complete non-effort by NCSoft staff.

A viewpoint entails an opinion, which means something needs to be discussable or debatable.

There's not much you CAN debate about 'Servers are broke, they'll be up when fixed'

Couldn't possibly have anything to do with the new systems and tech they've been getting ready in preparation for Freedom, naturally...

>_>

It could but they aren't providing any meaninful feedback. Which is why some of these posters are here asking for an update of sorts. Weird.

College football begins in 1.5 hours...please hurry up and get the servers live. I would like to play a little before I attend an opening party.

<cries and moans more>

... really.

So if I have perfect attendance at work, and suddenly have a really bad cold that knocks me out for two days, and a day again a week later for some reason, my boss should just assume that I'll be calling in sick every day? Or should he assume it's a glitch and I'll probably have great attendance the rest of the year?

The feedback so far last I checked was "Something big broke. No, we have no idea when it'll be fixed. We'll let you know as soon as we do."

They clearly have nothing new to tell us?
Naaah, they just want to make people suffer

I guessed from the "server status" menu that the servers are still broken - mmmmmm any idea of when they are going to be fixed.... ??

Also, IMHO it is normal for people to feel frustrated when they have had fairly good service for the last 6 to 7 years. To me it's more of a credit to the game. Hope they get it fixed soon.

As you were.

Peace.

Best bet's to keep an eye on the Announcements page. They seem to be pretty good at updating that with nay new intel.

Which also means no new intel, as of yet =P

That excuse works for isolated issues. It does not work for a month of nonstop foulups and outages.

Actually, it seems that Twitter and Facebook get the fastest updates these days...odd as that may be.

Don't I know you???

Bathtub curve

I'd rather they suffer this stuff NOW, when it just "a Thursday", than during Headstart or after full Live release of Freedom.

Having just futzed with a server that's been giving me problems for two...fscking...months and having to revise my plans for the server, I'm sympathetic.

My new server may be called "Godzilla" but *I* am the one who's been breathing streams of nuclear fire for most of the last couple months.

Two days does not a month make.

Are these worse than usual? Yep. Are they doing things they don't normally do (hardware upgrades?) Yep.

Now, if we were seeing a week (at this point) of continual downtime - seen by everyone (and by continual I dont' mean "the servers were never up," but seeing repeated crashes and the like) I'd be more inclined to agree with you. And yes, I know there have been some odd issues related to them - but I haven't heard a *lot* about them (a couple of people having powers vanish until they get teleported, etc.) Overall, though, this isn't enough to really take them to task for. Hiccups to be ironed out.

Do I expect them to do better on the next upgrade? Yes. They should be getting used to whatever's causing the issues and integrating them into their planning for *next* week, when I expect the extended downtime again because of I21 (launch or prep.) And I expect that a month from *now* these will barely be remembered. Because that *is* what we're used to from them.

It's inconvenient, I get it. I don't argue that. I do think it's getting blown out of proportion, but it's the forum. *shrug*

And I thought the servers were broken cause they were trying to make them xbox360 compatable.... (not that I'm trying to start rumours.... snicker)

Peace.

Servers break, it happens.

My only problem with this downtime is that it is very similar to what happened last week.
They had the same time set asside for the same reason "hardware upgrades" and after they had finished the servers died. The same thing happened this week.

It would have made more sense this time to have a longer down time and have a longer period of internal server testing after the upgrade. A longer planned downtime would cause less annoyance than a 6 hour downtime and then an emergency unplanned one afterwards.

Btw servers are showing as up but public access has been disabled atm.
