Any update on servers 'dying'?

It's a fair point, and I only 'shoot down' people that are already making perfect fools of themselves

However, that said, the EULA does actually mean that, no, they don't have to. Going on the written agreement, we're lucky they are actually giving us as much warning as humanly possible with this sort of thing; they are under no obligation (i.e. can bring servers and services down without warning)

The Devs and support team are only human. I'm sure they don't do this just to sp-

Yeah..... either they should give us something, or they should get lambasted when they DO give us something. Under which scenario are they not cads and blackguards?

The people who could give meaningful feedback are the ones busy trying to fix the problem, too busy to post here even if they have accounts. The devs/community reps who post on the forums probably don't know what's wrong themselves; not their job, not their field.

Doesn't have to. These whines come up every time the servers are so much as five minutes "late" coming up, or there's emergency maintenance and someone ******* and moans about how they're "entitled" to free time or a refund or what have you. The relevant sections have been quoted fairly frequently.

Not to mention for anything like this it's a fairly standard clause. Why? Because *they cannot guarantee server uptime.* If they could, they'd be running much heavier duty and/or expensive hardware, probably in redundant locations, and making less money (meaning less stuff being developed) or charging much more for the service. It's in there for *every* MMO (or, really, any online game where the publisher hosts the servers, just as much as "online experience may change" is.)

It's the legalese way of saying "Stuff happens that can be out of our control."

It's a game. It's not vital to health or well being. It being down is nothing more than a minor inconvenience. It won't kill you. Neither will getting a little perspective.

For some people anything more than a single brick is an impenetrable wall.
But we still treasure them anyway and pat them on the head and praise them when they make wee-wee in the toilet instead of on the sofa.

You are right. They have given me a broken server where my characters reside. I'm so fortunate. I should send them a fruit basket.

Um in 2004 the game was shut down for almost a week (Thursday included), this was due to severe lag and we all got a free month of game time because of it.

Hey. A lot of people could do a little due diligence and we wouldn't have these silly argu...

Okay, I lied. This is the internet. We could have everyone on the fricking planet read this stuff, an OFFICIAL breakdown with agreement by every lawyer in the univers and people would STILL argue about it.

That CYA interruption clause - one that is quite common in MMORPGs - may scare off a small-claims lawsuit, but it does not impress anyone with common sense. The agreement between subscriber and NCSoft for access to the game is self-evident.
