I'm not sure what that term means, but if it's "MMO with twitch combat," I'll pass. There are already plenty of multiplayer online platforms out there for that (Borderlands et al.); it doesn't need to completely displace games supporting playstyles in which character attributes matter more than player skill.

At least I hope the hell it doesn't, because I've got zero interest in that kind of gaming experience. If I'm going to suck at a twitch game, I'm going to do it in private.

Hmm, the gameplay trailer doesn't really interest me....but who knows...maybe I get into the beta and I like it...it's possible I guess

action mmorpg... think Phantasy star Universe and Online. CoH, CO, and DCUO are precursors to large scale usage of a more action oriented game playstyle.

"twitch" is not the same as "action"... "twitch" refers more to FPS/TPS and fighter where you need to react instantly to very fast events all the time... action includes twitch, but isn't all encompassing... inFAMOUS for example isn't twitch but it has twitch elements in it.

Wow, didn't think the trailer looked like WoW, but that gameplay vid sure did, at least for art style. Some of the combat looked interesting, seems like you can dodge attacks if you are sharp enough.

Okay, a race of magical wielding bunny girls.

I sort of like the hint mechanic of showing where AoEs are going to land so you can dodge.

Kind of reminds me of PSO more than WoW.

I've seen some of the gameplay footage.

But take that cinematic and turn it into a weekly show, and I would watch it religously.

Yep that was my impression. More of a PSO/PSU format.
MMO in the sense you'll prob have public hubs then go out on instanced missions with your team.

The game play is akin to CoH. Rooted powers, but they added a dodge mechanic and made the animations prettier... also there appears to be a double jumper. I'll play beta if i get in and see if i like it but more than likely I won't be buying it due to the limited shelf life it probably has since it seems to not want to move the genre further along or just wants to play it safe with things it knows it can do...and sadly doing that means that other games will likely jump out ahead of it... both older and newer.

Pixar made an MMO?

I say the look seems to be a cross between Ratchet and Clank and Boderlands.

Looks like WoW in Space, but maybe that's all I ever wanted in the first place.

Best way I've heard it described is as if an MMO, Borderlands and Ratchet and Clank had a really interesting night and this was the resulting offspring.

How do you respond to "it looks like WoW in tights"
CoH uses different mechanics than WoW and this game seems to lean more towards CoH than WoW

Borderlands is an FPS if i remember right and Ratchet and Clank is a platformer...

I see shooting, but it's not an FPS in any way shape or form. Unless the player of the footage just sucks and didn't move while attacking all attacks root you in that game which means it is the same as CoH save for a dodge mechanic. So I don't know how you compare it to Borderlands >.>

Saying it is like Ratchet and Clank cuz of it's platforming (which is nice to finally see in MMOs) is kinda silly. There are a ton of platformers out there. why not name one of them... Like say it's a combination of CoH and crash Bandicoot ^.^

By that I mean.

1) It has an artstyle similar to Ratchet and Clank.

2) The cinematic trailer showed a similair vein of humour as Borderlands.

3) MMO is...well..obvious really.

That was my thought. This would make a great Pixar movie and a fun TV series.

I saw the cinematic trailer, and thought of Outlaw Star. Maybe just me.

I think it looks ok worth a try anyway, the most surprising part though.... It's Monday and this thread is still here!?!?!

liking what I've seen so far.

Iiinteresting. Was it just me, or did the dual pistol animations and the ninja-like flying jump/flipping look eerily familiar? Think that big guy's sword is what our Titan Weapons will look like?

Still, based on the art, it appears to have been formulated to answer the incredibly geeky yet dull question "what if WOW took place on an alien planet?" If you wanna shoot for doing well, I think innovation is the key, not imitation. I also have no idea what level of character customization is possible in the game, and I'm so spoiled by COH I doubt I'd ever give this new game another look. Still, I like the cartoony qualities I see in the art.

Soooo ... does anyone else think that the gunplay animation in the gameplay clip looks a little bit like the pistols animations in CoH or am I just imagining things?

Other than that I have to say that the teaser trailer looked fantastic (Blur animation studios did a fantastic job on something yet again), and that I am rather interested in the whole 'Player Path' thing they have going on.

it's because the animations are rooted and as such gun play almost will always take on a gun-fu look because people think t looks cool and it's really the only way to diferentiate powers like that.
