You wanna talk about epic hair, you need to talk to this guy.

Lifetime subs are a ticking financial bomb for developers and publishers - the people who buy them are the most dedicated players of a game - the people who'd be the most likely to pay subs for years.
Once the lifetime sub has paid for itself, the company is left with players who are entitled to all the perks of a sub, but who aren't actually required to pay a single cent anymore.
Just look at all the players here with 2004 and 2005 registration dates - NCSoft has been getting 6-7 years of subs from them instead of getting 2 years up front, and then having to support what would basically be free playing VIPs for the other 4-5 years.

Just saying I'm more giddy about this than if there would be a lifetime sub, lol

One way to look at it is everyone is getting a lifetime membership after Freedom hits...only for free! You just still have to pay for the perks in the booster packs (or whatever the equivalent is after)

If the game's any good, if it isn't it makes them more money in the short time the game lasts.

It's true. This game is NOT rocket surgery. - BillZBubba

Can the EU Players at least get a 1 year sub?
Atm we are limited to 6 months max.

Well the Khelds and SoA EAT's have been dropped from a level 50 to level 20 unlock, so technically as Praetoria pre i21 goes up to level 20, there is no reason there could not be Praetorian EAT's.

For games like CO and DCUO it's obvious they're only doing it to milk what's obviously a dying product, I don't believe that was the case with LotRO, nor have I ever regretted my decision
I've never played DCOU...hell, i've never had any interest in it. CO though a friend of mine, funnily enough the one who got me into this game, drifted over there and enthused about it and insisted that I check it out. It was ok but not my thing. Though there were improvements there I liked, that's a whole different topic than the OP...or even this quoted response. Anyway, the long-winded point is those folks there seem quite happy with their game and seem to feel i's not failing in any way, just as 'we' do here. I guess to someone from a monster like WoW we all look pretty delusional but I figure to each their own. And if some have the time and money to play both, and others, then I can only say good for them.

Yeah, I doubt anyone here with any common sense expected an established game like this to offer a life sub. I'm happy for the year sub as my wife who played WoW (as she could no longer handle the graphics here) had to pay month to month, or get a 2 month time card.

That's not the point. Kheldians are epic because of the story that goes from level 1 to 50.

Praetoria has no such content to have a story all the way to 50.

Best thing you've ever said.

I've been paying for 7 years on one account and two years on another account, gladly as well. If I hadn't kept my subs "active" through these payments I doubt I would have any interest in the game. To me, constant financial infusions into something keep my interest in ints development and activity levels.

It takes a while to access since Zwindelfhoffmanzula has been over-using it.

If the game spit out 20 dollar bills people would complain that they weren't sequentially numbered. If they were sequentially numbered people would complain that they weren't random enough.

That's very true. I usually avoid playing new (time sink) games because it would take time away from the game I am already paying to play.

It's not overuse when the opportunities keep presenting themselves.
