How about giving her, and by extension all the women who play this game, some dignity? How about not making her look like an empty-headed sex object?

What ever happened to all the squawking about "Having female pets for Masterminds would be sexist!"? Did you forget that argument? How about all us women who WANT female minions, and DO NOT want to be depicted as vapid second-rate heroes who are barely more than sidekicks?
This is a conversation picked up from somewhere else some of us were speaking about it, but I completely agree.

The argument of no female MM pets because they would be exploited is a completely joke. Look how most of these 'signature' characters are dressed and how the players alone dress their female toons and you can throw that argument right out the window.

In that picture Sis P might as well be naked with a sign around her neck that reads (edited from something else I said that's not quite forum appropriate) "I'll trade sexual favors if you don't kill me"

Not perfect, but I think I captured most of the major compositional elements.

*edit* Oh, I forgot. The spider-boob is in the left 3rd of the image, and the big face is in the right third. And the face points to the boobs via a sequence of really bright or noticeable shapes (teeth, meteor, the sun, a flying dude, etc).
Just thought this would be interesting for folks just in case they were wondering about the composition of the image. We're supposed to notice the boobies.

Also, most people I've shown the image to think the guy's either hispanic, pacific islander, or white. They are astonished when I then link them to http://wiki.cohtitan.com/wiki/File:B...ey_Brawler.jpg

"In rapid-fire brainstorms deep within the bowels of Paragon Studios...."

Paragon Studios had brainstorms in its bowels. Doesn't sound pretty. Not pretty at all.

Block that metaphor!

Other that that, everything about Freedom really rocks my feathers!

Sis and BABs are just reacting to the sudden influx of F2P players. "My god...I've never seen so many bad imitations of Wolverine and Naruto in my life!"

I definitely like the idea of using comics pages for an introduction. What could be more natural for a comic book game?

Well, she did marry a man who's several inches shorter than herself

The other good thing about the new tutorial is this. In real life if any of us got super powers there is no way we could say how we would turn out. Some would be heroes and others villians.

In the comics when we see superheroes like Superman, he would be like running into a level 20+ in this game. Someone that has already made that choice. So in the comic book world where we are the ones that make the characters. Then it would make sense that they would neither be hero or villain, but the choice of either is how the character uses their powers.

Then my reaction to the cover art is best summed by Not-Black Back Ally Brawler's expression.
Edit: Though I will say one thing, for guy who, I believe is in his 40's or 50's, BAB looks pretty damn good for his age.

I hope more posts come up about how bad the artwork is... I wanna see David cry.

I mean, damn... you guys are brutal and beyond critical. I'm not gonna say I enjoy the facial expressions or ethnicity issue BaBs is having, but I enjoy the composition and pretty colors.

I think it looks great!

The coloring is clearly affected by some type of bright light source, a flash or a flare shining on the characters.

Keep up the good work!

Except for Psyche's expression and BaB's hair and skin tone, I love the image.
Could use some Arachnos representation though if they're supposed to be part of it.

Actually, I don't think anyone is saying it's badly drawn at all - because it isn't, it's a great bit of comic art - what people are saying is bad is the choice of expression for Sister Psyche - it's about what's being depicted, not how it's being depicted.

Well it's clearly going past the speed limit.

Alt response: He's not telling it to Halt, he's using the force to smack it WITH THE SUN!

Serious Response: He's just getting ready to shoot it out of the air.

I am so confused about BAB... it seems as though he is slightly different every time I see him. This is most evident with his hair. What happened to his dreads? Short, long, or Afroed (a word? not a word? peshaw) they should still be dreads, yes?

In any case I do love what the subject of this thread is! Great work on the comic book loading screens. I feel another alt in my future!

I say they are hating it purely on an artistic talent scale.... to hellz with your interpretation of the presented postings. :P

For a change i quite agree with J_B. Expression and dubious ethnicity aside it's an excellent picture. Just make Shalice more competent and heroic looking and BAB look more like, well, like BAB.

Dr. Todt's theme.
i make stuff...

I'm not seeing that at all

All the critical comments are directed at Sister Psyche's expression and BAB's skin tone - the actual composition of the panel is great.

I second this! The artwork is gorgeous! I love David's stuff consistently. However, unless BAB has vitiligo and got a perm it is in no way a canon representation of one of the few African-American (or whatever we are calling ourselves this decade) signature characters in the game. I mean it would have to be one heck of a flash that made Sam Jackson and Dwayne Johnson the same shade...

For real it's a great picture, just... Sister Psyche looks like something Rocco Siffredi used up and threw away, and BABs is inexplicably white.
