Paragon Points Clarification

Powersets for sale for VIPs?

Well, that would be OK if you get enough 400pts/mo to cover the cost. In that case, Powersets are free.

What? You spent all your 400pts/mo on emotes? Well, then, you will have to pay real money for the Powersets.

There will be more *stuff* than free 400pts/mo can buy. If you can prioritize and be disciplined, you'll get what you want 'for free.'

If you got to have it all, you pay for it.

I will probably make one immediate purchase of $50 worth of points (or whatever the largest Bonus Point package under that is) on my primary account. I will use it to buy just about every non-consumeable item that appears in the shop that tickles my fancy. I will continue to do so every year as long as the game continues and I can afford it. $50 will be my limit for the year for "fluff" items, though--outside of powersets, new ATs or story/character advancing content, that's all they're getting.

On my second account, however, I will pick and choose and stretch my points as far as they'll go. I won't add more points to the account unless it becomes necessary to access content, or something I really enjoy on my primary account goes on a sale that's too good to pass up (like with the half-price Booster Packs this past Cyber Monday). There may even be times where I drop my subscription on my second account for months at a time.

Just want to say thank you for the clarifications on when during the month Paragon Points will be awarded and how it'll work for folks like me who prepaid for some time in advance (I opted for the 14 months for the price of 12 deal back around Christmas, so I'm prepaid through February 2012).

On the subject of server transfers... for me, the main reasons why I wouldn't server hop a character regularly even if it were super cheap (or even free) would be the risk of losing character name due to a conflict, and losing SG affiliation on my characters "home" server that I plan to return to. It's possibly the name conflicts could become a non-issue at some point in the future, but I don't imagine that there will ever be away to move a character from server X to server Y but still keep them in the roster of a SG on server X.

You can make dummy characters to hold the name. Just delete and remake them as you move.

I'm thinking this pricing makes sense.

Being the critical curmudgeon that I normally am I've tried all kinds of ways to think of the downside to this. I really can only think of a couple or minor points, but this actually seems better compared to other MMOs and indeed better than the deal we currently get.

As things stand, we pay our monthly sub and we have to buy boosters.

With Freedom, we can pay our monthly sub and earn the boosters anyhow.

Plus I can play my 2nd account without paying for it

Can I turn in my unused server transfers for paragon points. I'd even take a hit and accept 400pp instead of the 800 (10$).

server transfers are nigh useless to me and i'll probably never use them, so I'd like the option for something else instead.

Well, let’s talk for a few minutes about some of these questions:

Okay, I'm now reassured enough about the PP value issue that it won't be an issue.

Now if only we can get some concrete reassurance that the endgame will (relatively) soon be more than repetitive Trial grind (I'm talking solo/small group, depending on your AT & build, content rather than needing full and multiple teams that need to stay together at all times) with random rewards for the many of us who do not like the system as-is.

The Signature Stories will be story arcs (one red & one blue at a time, and presumably some will be co-op instead) released monthly. IIRC, most, perhaps all, will have you playing second-fiddle to the Signature characters (Statesman, Recluse, Sister Psyche, Ghost Widow, etc.).

Good to know... missed it; that indeed is good news; bulk purchases should be rewarded and glad to see they are doing that.

Still wanna hear about whether we can gift PPs to other players via a purchasable code.

We need to have a Sig Arc with Apex so I can partner with him with my BS/SR scrapper.

We will be Bros, we will brofist after every mission, and it will be epic.

I like this idea! Server transfers are nice, but aren't much of a reward if you barely or never use them. Making the transfer tokens be turned in to Paragon Studios for 50% of the PP cost is a fair compromise. I hope they will take it into serious consideration.

Same thing could be said about a lot of "free" things we get now. Vet respec and free costume changes aren't much of a reward if you never use them. I think Father Xmas has over 80 free costume changes banked up (most from Issues, one per costume slot unlocked, it adds up fast).

If they have what I want, I'll definitely be purchasing in bulk when CoH:F launches.

Vet respecs you got one every year, costume tokens a couple times a year at most and every couple of years at least... also costume tokens are not purchasable... since these server transfers are every month and have an actual monetary value attached to them, why let 12 tokens sit unused every year when you can turn each of them in for a 50% reduction (400 PP instead of the price of 800) and use those points for items that you DO want? If you could trade in those 80 costume tokens for say 100 - 200PP a token when the system is in place (if they create that option), would you do it or at least consider it? You said yourself you don't use them, so if you could actually make SOME use of them, I think you'd at least consider it.

I say that it should still be an option that they consider... maybe not at CoH:F's launch, but maybe a few months later once they can datamine to see how often the free monthly server transfers are being used.

They're d-listers? I could've sworn they were disads or handicaps the devs put in to hinder players :P

If you make server transfers cost $0.50, I will buy 4 or 5 a month.
If you make server transfers cost $0.25, I will use them like candy, especially if that 25 cents is 20 PPs.

I think more money can be made at the lower price point, on top of more convenience for the players. It looks like a win-win to me.
I agree in principle, but am much too attached to my character names and even to their Prestige earnings to use it as much as you would. Also, the transfers probably do have some costs involved, so I think the lowest prices aren't practical. But still, I think they'd make substantially more money at $5 than at $10. I would buy an occasional one at $5. I will never buy any at $10, especially with a free one coming every month (and another every 2 months if I want to use my PPs that way).

I have toons with over 90 costume tokens and out of the 350 or so vet specs I have on level 20+ toons I've used 2 or perhaps 3.

Because of this I think the 400 PP/month will probably turn out to be a better reward for me than the usual VR.

The key for me will be knowing ahead of time what's going to be added to the PP purchase list in upcoming months so that I can plan ahead and use them to my optimum satisfaction.

Glad to see the ability to buy single stume PIECES rather than full sets is being considered. There are a lot of pieces I use all the time, some very rarely, and some never. taher be able to cafeteria-line as necessary.

I, too, am VERY curious about powerset pricing, considering this was one one of the things all subscribers got for 'free', ie as part of their sub, if only at wide intervals. If a single powerset costs much more than my monthly sub cost, chances are I will NOT buy it. Of course, that's easy to say. Who knows about Cool Factor (tm)?

BTW, what ever happened to the rest of PS Proliferation?

There might still be some in i21... but I wouldn't bet on it. Look for it in i22... especially seeing as it was mentioned as a goal that the Dev team was trying to shoot for in i21.
