Still Sexism in costume choices? Really?

Negaduck: I see you found the crumb. I knew you'd never notice the huge flag.
I was privy to some developers thought processes both publicly and privately as to why the gender-specific choices were made. Not once was it because of developer resource limitations. The reasons given ranged from 'it's gay' to 'men don't wear that' to 'fear of prostitution harems' to 'cross-gender dressing is beyond the pale of the T rating' (but poisoning children into blindness is within bounds).
I'm serious. They said that. Not all of them giving all those reasons. But by different devs at different times in regard to different pieces. |

But then, I prefer looser fitting clothes, personally.
The tunic I wear (medieval costume) is much looser than that one.
Of course, it has to be, in order to fit over the chainmail.
There I was between a rock and a hard place. Then I thought, "What am I doing on this side of the rock?"
I mean it's impossible these days for a woman to be considered a crossdresser

You don't need pants with a tunic - like the Cimerorans wear tunics without pants, which is like the traditional way of wearing them.

I think "sexism" is kind of a strong word. I don't know how much effort is involved with resolving clipping issues with the different models or how expensive it is to port them, so its hard for me to really have an opinion.
I'll say that a lack of skirts isn't the beginning of the issue though. Male characters don't really have shorts. There are those "boxer" shorts I've seen in the AE but never figured out how to unlock. But for the most part if you want short shorts you end up with something like this:
Of course, he'd be wearing those briefs even if I had a pants option. But not every toon is going for that look.
[I will add that I do find it somewhat funny that when this character joins a team, I'll get 2 or 3 comments about his missing pants. Meanwhile I'm fighting next to female characters dressed like Cher circa "If I Could Turn Back Time."]
(an FYI each sentence is from a seperate post the OP made in his thread.)
what confuses me is now with booster pack 3. They are introducing cross dressing. But it is cross dressing. When ppl do drag they do there clothes and makeup to match. i dont think cross dressing is appropriate for a game that my children or any1s child might and do play I would say sry for actually having morals and values but i would be lying. But if you want you kids to cross dress whither in game or in RL thats not my call. I for one dont want it. its not just me but society has a whole shuns cross dressing. like it or not but im not the minority but the majority in society plz explain more on how standing up for what i believe and keeping morals and values intact has anything to do with common sense. And my faith in the developers of this game plummets just a little more. But what reasons could they honestly give for not giving women certain options? I mean it's impossible these days for a woman to be considered a crossdresser

Naturally, the men weren't clamoring to be wearing the clothing associated with 'the weaker sex.' It was then stigmatized as being gay (not that there should be anything considered wrong with that) or feminine (not that there should be anything considered wrong with that). I remember the older generations bothered to no end when men started to wear hair length past their ears ("those sissies!").
Every heroic guy needs that perfect little red dress.

I had to go and google that thread. The name is like a camp event horizon:
"I thought CoX was a Teen rated game?!?!?!"
The best part is the poster's logic that crossdressing (gender switching, actually) shouldn't be allowed because it is too sexy. Thanks for the laughs.

Somewhat unrelated photo of guys in dresses. Not superheroes, but athletes and college students mostly. The image is from the "Red Dress Run" in New Orleans. It's a popular annual event that basically involves... running in a red dress. It proves nothing one way or another, but something to look at.
+1 to female models having access to the male only magic booster items
And that last statement of yours is sexism, too, even though you obviously abhor it. It's societal sexism. With the 'Woman's Lib' movement, it was more easily accepted for women to adapt the clothing of the gender that had more power because they wanted to be considered equals. There was at the time a lot of pushback to that. I remember in the 60s and 70s the scandal to the previous generations to see women wear pants in public and professional settings!

Personally I would like the borelo shoulder fur for some of my guys to give them fuzzy jackets. (Maybe it won't look quite as good in my head, but ya never know until ya try, right?)
There's also the headband thing that's been brought up before, and one of my male characters has... Memory problems when it comes to his appointments with the barber, so by now he'd probably be using the longest hairs female models have.

Point, but I think we can still agree that it would be nice to get costume proliferation across model frames.

I've several times wanted 'skirts' for men, for tribal/barbaric style outfits. Basically, kilts that don't scream 'Scottish'. I end up using the Valkyrie 'skirt' instead, which isn't really the same thing.
