Still Sexism in costume choices? Really?

I suppose next she'll be trying to tell us that this isn't a tank top either.

True story: A male friend of mine was asked not to wear a tank top to a club by the staff. Said club doesn't have a formal dress code, and lots of guys wear t-shirts and jeans. The women, of course, wear far less.

I think most urban clubs are like that, the one I used to be a bouncer for had similar rules, no tank tops, but if you wore t-shirts, it couldn't be those plain white ones.

Look at that. A full-grown woman pulling off pigtails. Her crazy is off the charts.

Actually, given what fashion designers have a tendency to make and put their models through, yes, I would sooner take Golden girl's word as a fellow clothes wearing person than the word of someone who stuffs half-starved girls into utterly ridiculous outfits.

That's like saying you would listen to a random schlep talk about cars over an automotive engineer because sometimes the auto companies put out concept cars that you think are silly. Who do you think designs all the "regular" clothes at the department stores?

point conceded.

Edit: Wait, is said Schlep comfortable?

Edit again: *Looksup at the person wearing a huge pair of briefs as a tank top* You know what? Nevermind, point still conceded...

You'd be amazed. I've seen men that could put 90% of all women to shame.

Every time I or any of my friends get invited to a party, we've never ever had the though "Ooh, a party invite! Now, which tank top should I wear?"

The whole is/isn't a tank top controversy is all the conceit of conventions of nomenclature.

Doll up a tank top and it gets called a shoulder-less top with straps. It's still the same shape showing the same skin. A shape that women can wear in lots of places that would be considered completely inappropriate for men.

No, most straight pick-up joints are like that. The women are there to be looked at, the men are there to do the looking. The gay bar down the street does not have such rules, in fact they don't care if guys take their shirts off. Neither did any of the more alternative clubs I've been to. The fact is, a lot of clubs have a vested interest in enforcing the double standard. They don't want women to see something they like, the want guys to see something they like and then buy the girl drinks. If a woman sees something she likes, then the guy won't have to buy her drinks now will he?

None of which is relevant to a game. We have no drinks to buy so why are our female characters constantly given costume pieces that expose as much skin as possible, and incidentally look best when worn with other pieces from the same set, because otherwise they cut off at the waist and look odd (Witch pieces, I'm looking at you) while guys get cool jackets that go with everything?

QR: The idea that beads on a tank top turn it into anything other than a tank top is frankly ludicrous, and any amount of "but its true cause I say so" does not change the fact of the matter, it merely makes the person trying to mandate their opinion into reality for all look less than intelligent.

Sorry. If I make a dress out of denim, does it cease to be a dress and suddenly become blue jeans? Be serious. Form determines classification, not materials. Are sport bras not bras? They don't have lace or satin on them, therefore HOW can they be a bra?!! *massive eyeroll* use some logic for once.

Just look at his legs. And he was a passionate dancer too! And yet he's very obviously a man, one pretty much all sexists would bow to if they had to, even if just out of fear.

It's not just (or even mainly) about obvious gender traditions...
The Steampunk Pack doesn't give Males the clockface belts!
Yes, there are some decisions based on opinionated societal regularities (my opinion on that is -if anyone cares- stuff that), but there are also decisions that I suppose were made just on offering different things and not doing the work to share each and every gender-neutral piece and/or keeping a balance in numbers between the two sexes.
I, personally, think that any gender-neutral piece (really any piece, but I'll let them withhold obvious things if they want to) should always be included for all genders. The counter to that is that this would cut down the amount of different pieces added. What's worse? Same pieces added for all genders or some no reason disparity of belt buckles and neutral jackets?

I still seem to be alive - and I still seem to regard his outfit as bad
