Yeah, I like the Roman stuff. There have been other free things that are pretty nifty too. I think my real point is that we probably wouldn't have most of the cool costume options that the packs have given us, if we were waiting for them to hand them out for free. The money from the packs helps pay for the design work that goes into those packs. ^_^

Not that I don't agree that a lot of energy has gone into more packs and quite a bit less energy has gone into providing new free costume stuff... but if all of it were free, I think we'd probably just be getting around to the science pack about now, with the martial arts and mutant packs somewhere on the distant horizon.

I'm on Guardian and we have a well-known Tank on the server who has Tiger heads [his toon looks very nice too]. He is the only one I can remember seeing regularly wearing pieces from this pack! Sad. Also play on Virtue and dont see it much over there, even.
I've seen quite a few - but mostly just the cat heads - there are a few wolves and birds around too, but bulls are very rare

I've seen many more of the more subtle pieces- the patterns, the different fur style, the cat feet, the furry-legs-on-regular-feet, etc.

I think part of the problem is that... well... faces are kind of defining. I wouldn't be too inclined to change a character's head - even a beast-like character like my "Russian Blue" - just because the heads are there now. I may use it in a new alt, but not an existing build.

... and the endgame content released since the animal pack came out doesn't really encourage new alts.

I actually used it as an alt form for my daughter of Athena. It's a magically cursed cat-form from the witch Circe.

Still here, even after all this time!

This really nails it for me regarding the beast pack. Considering my "main" character is a catgirl, Mouse Police -- and I have alternative versions of her on nearly every server -- I just couldn't imagine doing a tiger or snow leopard beast-style version of her. It's not her. And I'm not even necessarily that into RP per se, but my characters have certain guidelines that they adhere to or it simply doesn't feel like the same character anymore. The only ones where I've done wildly different looks are ones that were that way by design -- Alting, who is supposed to be a new character with each costume, and Medieval Crisis, who takes on the look and personalities and is inhabited by the spirits of different warriors (and warrioresses) from history.

I had a couple of characters that were supposed to be wolf-like or dog-like from the beginning, using the most wolf-like of the older beast heads. Those got proper wolf heads and tails. And I created a new minotaur character. But that's been it, other than a leopard-print dress here and there.

Ok its a silly red name post but it's still a red name post.

That means I'm entitled to a complete over analyzing of its contents.

Let's put down some numbers here. Let's assume that the game currently has 15,000 active subscribers that works out to 225,000 USD per month Assuming they did sell roughly 9000 steam punk boosters On the first day they made an extra $90,000. So for this month it's almost like they had an another 6000 subscribers.

Assuming NCSoft gets about half that. It begs the question "How is that extra $40,000 is being used to improve City of Heros?"

Captain Den'Rath 53* Merk/Traps MM, Rivona 50Energy Blast/Time Cor,Victoria Von Heilwig 53* Dual Pistols/Traps Cor, Crab Spider Webguard 53* SOA, Accela 53* Bot/FF MM,Valkyrie's Executor 53* Broadsword/Shield Def Scrap. On FREEDOM! @Knight Of Bronze

Yeah no. It includes issues. How many people do you think they would retain if they didn't add new content or added new content and charged for it (in addition to the sub. fee). It is basic business. You can't honestly think they are giving us 'free' issues??? Really??? Boosters supplement the income and add to their profit etc (no idea how much of that extra income is pumped back into the game).

Anyway, Steampunk pack didn't offer much I liked so I passed on it. They charge too much for the boosters and I stopped getting them; I also think the last bunch have lacked and were of poor quality (especially the martial arts one with the warrior pads etc).

It pays for another white cat for Positron to stroke while he works on more Trials, plans new currencies, and calculates the merit price for the Ascension Armor.

Wait... WHAT?!? I haven't heard that before, not even in the last 150 times people have said it over the last 7+ years!

This pack is the only one I never bought. I even bought the Party Pack when it was on sale once, because my female alts wanted the dance emotes.

that said, I am enjoying the Steampunk pack a lot and am looking forward to whatever we get next.
possible, the only thing we got as feedback was this

now wether he means the fn reception was great or the financial reception was great, dunno. i know i hevent used many of the beast parts myself, the set was more mammal centric for my guys, but since i asked for it, i supported it. figured unless it sold, a future reptile/fish pack was totally off the book for me. i have assuredly used parts from it though, and beast run in full dragon form looks cool.

Well, I know I got it.

Then again, despite paying for it, I still haven't received it, and it's been a while now...

My issue with the Beast Pack was the over-definitive look of the heads (when compared to the slew of less detailed head and face options (heck, most of the costume pieces) already in game).

Even if they were somehow able to make it work... I just couldn't see a hat on the Bull head working aesthetically... the level of detail/art 'style' wouldn't quite match up. Too rigid of a pack.

That and they didn't allow for the meld of those type of options in the first place; no beast heads with goggles, hats, hoods or face paints.

[Finally, little use of the pack options by NPCs (no Island of the Cat People or an actual Wolf's Den Pub mission) ]

Apparently, I play "City of Shakespeare"

That's where the rest of the booster pack cash goes - a full-time cat shaver was advertised for on the Paragon Studios job page recently.

No need. The radiation takes care of that.

What I would like to see is the trend of Booster sales. How many do they sell in the first day? What are sales in the first week? Then the first month, then the next 6 months?

Is there a point in the life of a booster that the sales diminish to a negligible amount? If that's the case, wouldn't it be better to offer an alternate method of unlocking said booster(s) without the need for money?

Doing so would serve many purposes. It would be good advertising. Furthermore, it's new "free" content would help retain subscribers, just like the "free" issues have retained subscribers.

ps: In response to somebody's earlier estimate on active subscribers; It's estimated that CoH has around 120k active subscriptions, possibly more since the last data I saw was pre-GR.

I have a bull, on Virtue. The Micro-taur. Because every possible variation of "Mini-taur" that I could think of was taken.

He's quite cute, in a bull-with-an-axe-the-same-size-as-he-is-and-can-cut-you-in-half kind of way.

Over the past month or so, I purchased all the content for CoX before they went on sale. Oh well. More for the company I care for.

I also have a minotaur... Only mine's a big fella'.
His name's Anu. He's a shield tank.

I also gave both Mister Mistoffolees and Mister Bibbles (my two "sorcerer's familiars using purloined magic to look human" cat-boys) animated cat tails when the pack came out. That alone was worth the price to me. Our first set of cat tails were just awful.

I sure as heck hope not. Not only would that upset a lot of paying customers, but any hint of the sort will automatically force lost sales immediately.

I'd have to agree. Not saying I'd stop paying for them, but I could see a lot of people going "Well if I just wait, it'll become free"
