So with the first day of steampunk sales over...
Naw they can't release data like that because then people would say that they made X amount of USD on pay for costume bits and then they would demand a few free costume bits.
NC Soft has olympic size swimming pools of money to swim in. They can't be arsed to give us FREE stuff.
Like ARMORED STEAM PUNK BOOTS.
Not that I'm BITTER about that or any thing.
Wait Forbin, who do you know that gave you a lifetime sub for free?
I've paid roughly $1300.00 for 21 Issues.
Honestly though, all the free Issues is one of the main things that hooked me for so long! Not having to fork over an extra $60 everytime something new came out rocks!
Maestro Mavius - Infinity
Capt. Biohazrd - PCSAR
Talsor Tech - Talsorian Guard
Keep Calm & Chive On!
We can't know for sure, but just looking at the amount of people talking about it or using steampunk costume pieces ingame, as well as the numbers made public about similar stuff from other companies (i.e. TF2 and hats)... I assume booster packs are doing well.

I am sure it is profitable. The steam punk pack is the only one I don't have. I want it, but it is not in the budget.
I think even some of the doubters would purchase them if they continues to support them after release. Example: There needs to be a "with skin" option for organic armor from the mutant pack, and a monstrous hand of the same item.

I don't have it yet myself, and I've got everything else (yes, including the wedding pack).
But that's mainly cos my main PC died last weekend and until I've got a new box sorted, I don't see a lot of point paying for bits that I can't actually use. That and the fact that the bits to resurrect my PC are taking a BIG bite out of my disposable income for the next few months
Warning:
The above post may contain Cynicism, sarcasm and/or pessimism. If you object to the quantities contained, then tough.
I've read the entire thread and I have no idea what "how many boosters they shifted" means or what the relevance might be. Can someone help me out?

Of course, if they don't make any significant changes addressing the basic criticisms restated a bajillion times in the Test threads, I'll be one cranky consumer but I'll give them the benefit of the doubt for now.

But I feel your pain;
I bought a Mustang and Ford refused to upgrade it from GT to GT500 - the bastards had the unmitigated gall to charge me for it.
Same thing with TSR/WOTC/Hasbro - I bought the core books and the bastards made me pay for the supplaments.
Bioware, the money hungry bastards that they are made me pay for Dragon Age II and Mass Effect II after I had purchased both DA1 and ME1 (although they did give me an extra copy of ME2 for free after buying DA2) Same with Bethesda and Fallout.
I just dont understand it? I have a job, I pay taxes, I should be getting everything else for free

Huh?
He's saying he wanted armored steampunk style boots in the booster (to go with the rest of the original Steampunk armor set, I assume), not that he was unwilling to pay for it.
Edit: Oops, he did say free stuff. That said, I agree that boots completing a set that's been around since launch isn't an unreasonable request.

Yes and Yes. I would be willing to pay for them but I do feel that the sets age means that they should be free.
As I've said so many times in the past, I don't support the Boosters, for multiple reasons:
A) This is a subscription-based game. I don't support microtransactions in a subscription-based game, especially of core mechanics. Costuming and customization is a core mechanic. CoH has always used the vast amount of customization as a major selling point, and is the biggest aspect of the game that's kept me playing as long as I have.
B) Because, I feel I've been lied to on two different occasions. A long time ago (because Costume Customization is such a core aspect of the game) it was said they would never make purchase-only costume pieces. Then when they did start making the boosters, they said they would still make free costume options. Aside from a couple miscellaneous pieces, there's nothing new that's appeared. When I returned to the game recently after a 2-year hiatus, I was very disappointed in how few new costume pieces had been added into the game.
If the game was ever F2P, or if there were non-monetary ways of obtaining the boosters, I would not have a problem with them. One suggestion would be to have them pay-only for perhaps the first few months, then after that make them available through in-game methods.

!5.00 a month doesn't get you the kind of nifty costume options in the Steampunk or Beast packs. It never did.
my lil RWZ Challenge vid
you know, they have yet to say how a pack did or didnt do. I often wondered about the beast pack, since i was one of the big yellers for it, and if it flopped, id secretly suspect david was laughing at me and drawing uneditable mustaches on my characters. I suspect it did well, i think there are a hardcore clot of cosutme nuts like myslef that will dutifully shell out every time there are costume things in the pack, and this one was really really good, so id suspect it did well with the usual suspects...once they could log into their accounts, grumble grumble.

I'm on Guardian and we have a well-known Tank on the server who has Tiger heads [his toon looks very nice too]. He is the only one I can remember seeing regularly wearing pieces from this pack! Sad. Also play on Virtue and dont see it much over there, even.
This pack is the only one I never bought. I even bought the Party Pack when it was on sale once, because my female alts wanted the dance emotes.
that said, I am enjoying the Steampunk pack a lot and am looking forward to whatever we get next.
...is there any official word on how many boosters they shifted the moment they came online?
