I haven't gotten one, but that's because I'm in the U.S.
I think they will be awarding everyone a global name change token to allow you to choose a name that is totally unique. Yes, I agree it sucks having to give up a name that, until now, was solely your identity. But at least they are doing all they can to make the global server access merge as smooth as possible

Just got an email, but I raised a support ticket as the name its clashing with is not only also mine (on the same NC master account, too), but it's a dead trial account that hasn't been active in about 4 years!

Interestingly I just logged into my NCSoft Master Account (reconfirming myself yet again because my IP Address changed) and there is no indication that the EU account has changed in any way shape or form at all, the Account Name is as it was before (same as the US account name).
Can I assume you guys aren't bright enough to update the Account Names there, and that EU people who come back later and try and use that screen to confirm their login name will just get no help there and have no real clue why their log in no longer works as they remembered it?

A city is not the same thing as a County and neither is the same thing as a State. And by that token a character name is not the same thing as a global name and neither is the same thing as an account name.
And a change to one of those names doesn't affect the other two.

Got the expected e-mail today, as my regular account coincides with the trial account I was given for beta testing the Rikti invasion years ago . Oh well.

Yup, I got this email too. I've emailed support because the NA account I'm clashing with is mine, opened ages ago just for the Passport badge and never used after the initial 30 days.
So far the only reply I've gotten is a cut and paste to the KB article that tells me I can't change the name of my account.
As far as I can tell there's no option to delete an account either so I'll wait and see if they reply to my follow up.
EDIT:
Their reply is "no, we can't delete your account."
Not so much "support" as a brick wall

My answer was that it is impossible to change/rename or delete accounts once they are made. Which in my ict experience is a bit of Bull***t! But that is my opinion.
So I also have eu in front of my account name. Because my 2 days used trial on US with the same name is there and cannot be deleted. :S

Ooh, I think I'll join the send a hopeless email game. My main account now has an EU because it clashes with the US Beta account name I had and never upgraded to full.
However, it turned out that Smith was not a time-travelling Terminator
Does it really matter? It's the login name; the launcher remembers it, you only have to change it once.
My NA & EU accounts also had the same login name so my EU login name now has "EU" at the front; my only issue is although they sent me an email about this weeks ago (and again a day or two ago) they have yet to reflect it in the account name in the master account.
Thats it.
I just recieved an email that says it. My account name has been renamed with the appending EU due to collision with other NA account name. It sucks.
