Discussion: Prepare for the Praetorian Invasion on the live servers!

TL;DR version:

There will be Praetorian invasions similar to the Rikti ones we already have and ignore. Maybe something spiffy like AVs thrown into the mix that get nicely stomped flat by the amount of heroes in the zone. Probably no meaningful rewards. Maybe some shinny new badges.

In shorter words, "Meh."

No relation to Arachnos!

Part Pack: Now the majority of players know how we, PvPers, have felt for years now. Don't want to be so "civil" now that you have been completly ignored, do you?

So the people to fight off the alien invaders are the Plumbers? No, wait, that's from someplace else....

A Ben 10 joke on the CoH boards? You DO realize that reference isn't going to go over the target audience's heads; it's going to scoot between their legs.

Not if there is a badge involved.

Seems unlikely. Positron specifically refers to the person he's contacting as a "colleague" and the email that Colston gets is addressed to "My Colleague."

Conversely, Anti-Matter didn't seem to imply he was sending an email to someone familiar enough to be a colleague. The message also specifically instructed Colston to use the information to protect The Rogue Isles by name, implying that Paragon City was already taken care of. That also doesn't sound like something Anti-Matter would do: he would be warning his recipient about a threat to all of Primal Earth, not just the Rogue Isles. Anti-matter's message would have said, in effect "pass this on to the heroes of Paragon by whatever means at your disposal."

I hope that May 27th is the end date. That's the start of my anime convention, and I won't be home until late on the 29th.

See, my first thought is that we've already seen other crossovers... like, say, from a world full of monsters that resemble a lot of our Halloween-related iconography.

Seriously? With all the drooling that goes on in relation to Ghost Widow? Posi is, at worst, late to the party.

Was it just a Ben10 reference though? Because if you include the movie, the Mario Bros. have done cross-dimensional invasions as well.

  • Avatea (trying to get Neuron mod-smacked).
  • Arcanaville (trying to find out where the statistical data on Neuron's calculations came from).

Intrepid videographer Jo Sinclair would certainly be up to the challenge if Anti-Matter contacted her and said, "Get the word out"...

Invasions would be great, if the servers and game client could actually handle the number of players enemies they throw about. Instead it becomes a frustrating lag fest with powers pretending to be recharged, 10 second delays on everything and enemies popping in and out of existance thanks to the 100 entity rule.

Mind you I could also say the same thing about trials.

My Plant/Emps contribution to any Invasion event.

1) Stick Healing Aura on auto.
2) Summon Carrion Creepers & Fly Trap.
3) Run off for 5 minutes and do something else instead.
4) Come back and resummon creepers

Repeat 3 and 4 until it ends.

If the game is fixed between now and then so it can actually handle this sort of event I'll be there. Otherwise I'll be doing something actually worthwhile which isn't a frustrating lag-fest.

True, but remember Colston's intro:

Quote:
She'd been undercover for nearly five years now
If she was sent years ago to be a Praetorian sleeper agent, it makes sense that AM would refer to her as a colleague. Essentially the same reason that Posi would have if she were his agent - they're colleagues in this particular crime (or it's a handy cover term)

Quote:
The message also specifically instructed Colston to use the information to protect The Rogue Isles by name, implying that Paragon City was already taken care of. That also doesn't sound like something Anti-Matter would do: he would be warning his recipient about a threat to all of Primal Earth, not just the Rogue Isles. Anti-matter's message would have said, in effect "pass this on to the heroes of Paragon by whatever means at your disposal."

I can see why AM using his villain sleeper agent would word it exactly the way he did:

He did because he knew her well enough to know what she'd do with the information: Pass it on to someone else who would take all the credit. If you give spoiler information like that to a hero, that hero's going to be a lot less likely to be subtle about how that info gets out, and subtlety is explicitly what Antimatter was aiming for.

Realistically, though, that letter was written to paint either one of them as likely senders. Why else would it have used both "Emperor Cole" and "Tyrant"?
