I used to read my buddy's copy - the same guy who got me into COH 5 years ago - all the time. I loved their reviews as well as numerous articles on both hardware and software.
And I'm really impressed. An 86 (out of 100)? Way to go! -
Now, I can't put my finger on it, but over the years have we not complained about something or other that the devs have overused in the past? It always has seemed something that we would run into over and over and over again, yet a few months later we'd all be wondering "What happened to them?"
It's like with a friend of mine, who will latch onto a favorate word that he will overuse, thinking that he's clever for using it. For the longest time it was 'alacrity', and from time to time he'll still use 'penultimate'. He keeps on doing this because he thinks it makes him look smart and savy, when all it does is make him look silly for trying to do so. I keep trying to tell him "Look, I know who you're trying to impress here with that, but trust me, they arn't...and may even be laughing behind your back at that."
That's what's happening here, IMO. The devs are trying to find ways that are new and clever for us, but they are getting old very fast. I'm sure that in a few months we'll see a drop in the number of new missions that are ambush-crazy (but the old ones will still be around, which will become ghost towns, auto-dropped as quickly as possible by players) as the devs find some other way they think will keep our interest. -
I'm a casual gamer, here and there at odd hours, with over 70 toons spread out over 12 of the 16 servers. If I'm interested in RPing I will, but I don't have to. Not a PVP'er at all, and will either PUG or solo depending on my mood.
I look forward to seeing a lot of you ingame, either here on Exalted or elsewhere. BTW, I only have one toon on here ATM, Swiftblade. (She was one of my beta toons and I was glad I got the name when I logged into the server as soon as it came up. Doubtful that I'll be able to get my villian-based shooter on with her name intact, but we'll see.)
Oh, yeah, I also love the costume generator and will deffinately be buying the extra costume slots. And a lot of my toons have backstories - some of them intertwined. (It comes from being an old-school pnp RPG'er for over 25 years.) -
Looks good. Maybe if I can concentrate on just one toon I'll be able to bring Swiftblade up from her paltry lvl 14 and run a few of these with you guys. (And hopefully I'll come up with a great idea for a costume for the 30th there.)

Casual_Player (BTW, LOVE your avitar) I'll agree with you on that point, as I'm like that over on a FB Flash game that is waaay more annoying with their game model. Like all these little games on FB, they have ingame game points that can be spent on goodies. However, unlike all these other games, the playerbase is frustrated over the fact that this is the only game where you don not receive bonus points every time you level up. As well, now that the designers of this game are putting out missions that are all timed ('Expires in x days y hours') but can be completed with these ingame points that you have to purchase, I'm sure a lot of the players of that game are ready to quit in utter frustration. (In fact, I've noticed that at least a 1/3, creaping slowly up to 1/2 of my neighbours are no longer active.)
Imagine if Paragon Studios made us buy everything for points and gave us VIP members ZERO stipend every month, do you think they'd survive?
I may not like the prices of some of the things in the store, but that won't stop me from spending cash on extra points now and then. In fact, I think I'll check to see how much I have on my pre-loaded card tonight and maybe buy 1,200 points and get an extra costume slot. I know that Teen would be grateful, as her closet is full of outfits - i.e. I got too many of her costume ideas in saved costume files. -
I'd just like to put my 2 INF in here. When I'm looking for an ingame event, I've gone to the Player Event section, not each and every server section. And I'm sure that a lot of other players do the same, as I have toons on all servers save for the French and German one, and checking into each and every server section just at the chance that there will be an event advertised would be frustrating.
(Mind you, last night on Victory I was wondering if it had morphed into the Portuguese server, as there were a number of people in the local channel from either Portugul of Brazil - although the way they seemed to be talking it could have been the latter. And if anyone is wondering, no, I don't speak the language fluently, but can at least recognize it in print.) -
I'm just wondering, how long is the sale for?
-
Yes, thanks for sharing as well. I was wondering if something went wrong last week. My billing date is the 28th of the month, and I did not see my stipend, although I did see my second character trasfer token. So a week tomorrow? I can live with that. Besides, I think I might take some of my birthday money and get some extra PP at the same time - see about getting another costume slot or two.

Okay, I'm really glad that I can now access the forums, but ever since I've had to re-type my ussername/password five times...or each time I've entered the forums from outside of them, including from the main game site. (Thank goodness I have it saved in IE - one reason why I'll never clear my cache if directed to by a tech.)
Anyone else having this problem? -
Michelle, I'm sure that your latest video will look great. I just hope I didn't mess things up too much during the shoot.

Z, the purchaseable costume slots are account-wide??? HAPPYHAPPY,JOYJOY HAPPYHAPPY,JOYJOY
Wolfesbane, congratulations on your anniversary, and I'm so jealous. (I would love to go back to Japan some day.
Captiosus, I think you're only looking at the monitary value and not the intrinsic value. You're handling it similar to what a friend of mine does everytime we go to a fast-food place. He will look at the combos, and then price out all the items one by one to see if it really is a value - and he has told us flat-out at least once "I want to me sure I'm not getting ripped off."
I think that we'll have new people come aboard, and will eventually take a look at what VIPs get vs. Premium/Free and decide that it is well worth the value. Mind you, there will be some who will look at things and say "I don't think it's worth it," and stay at Premium, and I would not have a problem with them, but I'm sure that even a few of them will come around. -
Quote:As my friend once said at the height of the "Hi, I'm a Mac/Hi, I'm a PC" commercials: "There's one area that PCs make road pizza of Macs...gaming."That sucks for Mac users but there is a reason some call it Macintrash. Macs aren't for gaming and that is one fact. The majority of games are built for Windows.
Macs are for photo editing and other type of editing software. It is the best at it. Personally, if I were a graphics designer, music composer, etc, I'd be using a Mac.
This doesn't mean things shouldn't be fixed at some point. However, being a small majority your issues won't get fixed as fast.
Let's face it, how many of us remember going into computer stores back in the 90's and go into the gaming section, where we'd see row after row of PC games. Then we'd get to the back wall and see one small section labeled "Mac Games" - often just seperate versions of PC games.
There has to be a point where once it's ready to roll, it should not be held up for a select group. -

Quote:I second this! Already sent off an e-mail to my buddies who once played this game - including the guy who got me hooked just by showing me the costume creator - in the hopes of enticing them to "Jooiin us...joooooiiiiiiiiinnnnn us!"Squeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! =)
Now, I have so much to do ahead of time:
-If I can get back onto Beta, see if my plans for respec'ing Teen work out as I have it on my Excel spreadsheet. (Fly at lvl 8, Afterburn at lvl 12.)
-Copying Swiftblade's costume from the Beta saves to the Live saves - and home I get on Exalted in time to get her name.
-Figure out respecs for 30 of my toons (only 29, since I've already handled Teen's) who are lvl 14 or over and already have Fly - and that includes all 12 members of the Flying Stiletto Sorority.
-Plan to be up early enough on Tuesday in order to start the patch download to run while I'm doing the laundry.
I'm SOOOOO pumped for this! -
I just picked mine up, now I'm heading ingame to see how it works.
Oh, and for those grousing about living in Rhode Island with regards to this promotion? Just be thankful you don't live in Canada with most US contests/sweepstakes. Because of our laws requiring a skill-testing question (usually a rediculously easy math question, that any 4th grader could do) we are routinely shut out of many online/magazine contests that originate in America. I'm just glad that I was able to get this promotion. -
Personally, I think they should just admit it, that base raiding will never work the way they wanted it to, and give up on it. Then just give us the building blocks we need to finally do up our bases the way we want to.
Again, I go back to my anology of the RPG GM who put together a complex plot with intrigate clues and red herrings...and his players circumvent the entire plot, figure out the mystery and then go on to something else, leaving the poor GM to pout and moap about how "They didn't play it the way I wanted to play it."
The devs need to finally realize that there are things in this game that they thought we would use one way, yet have started using another way, and not try and force us back into playing the way they intended it to be played. -
Okay, I just HAVE to ask. What gives with making a .pigg file so big, that even at 365 KBs/sec, it still take over 15 minutes to download? Just what is in it (texMisc.pigg BTW) that warrents it being so big?
(25 minutes to go. I don't know if I'll be able to keep awake until 4 AM to finish this.) -
Well, I might show up, if I can ever get test updated. (It's currently at 168 minutes to go, and only 3 of 62 files downloaded. *SIGH*)
(The sound files are taking the longest. I'm wondering if whomever created the file format decided to make a statement with the .pigg suffix?) -
Okay, thanks, I'll fiddle around with it later.

When I try to load two of my saved toon outfits I get a message that the piece (10, Chest Detail) can't be found. This is puzzling, since it seems to be a steampunk piece, but I have the steampunk booster. Not only that, I've never loaded either of these toon outfits into the game, they were just costume concepts that I saved.
Was there something that I might have used that was recalled in a subsequent patch? -
The thing is, I choose to do the Faultline arcs - which I love - but am not forced to go to that zone in order to continue with other mishs from my current contact.
BTW, I lost count of how many times I bugged the invisible ice slide in the Frostfire mish before it was finally fixed. -
Okay, I too am impressed with this, however...
...I'm getting more of a feeling that these new improvements are being done in reaction to another certain superhero MMO and their tutorial. (Which, BTW, if you didn't go searching for things, you missed a LOT of stuff in.) -
Okay, my two main problems that still happen with him are:
1) You still need to run across two zones (usually from/to Kings Row) instead of being able to call your contact.
2) You still end up doing a bunch of mishs, then your contact tells you "I've got a super secret mission for you, but I can't give it to you until you're level 5. Come back and see me when you are." You streetsweep to get to 5, level up and go back to see them and they send you off to Wincott. Then when you get back to them, they give you to another contact.
I guess my main question is why can't Wincott be part of the contact tree offered? Is there any other reason then forcing us into a zone that, even if revamped, is of no interest to some players? I for one do not like that sort of railroading. (In my books it's only slightly more annoying than having a contact in one zone - say, Kings Row - who sends you on missions in another zone - say, Steel Canyon.) -
...could we please get rid of the "You're level 5 and you must go to The Hollows and speak to Lt. Wincott. Oh, and then you have to trudge all the way back across Atlas Park and then zone into here and come speak to me because I still don't trust you with my cell number." drudgery???
I know you want players to play through The Hollows story arc, but I tried it once - not knowing that I didn't have to run it - and found it to be a total nightmare. The worst was trying to run between all those large groups of trolls in order to get to the mission door, often on the FAR side of the zone, only to often get killed and have to go back to the hospital in the middle of AP and come back and do it all over again. (Yes, the new mobile hospital in the zone now makes that obsolete, but it is still a chore to do.)
Please please please, drop this, and find another way to offer us the option of visiting The Hollows.
