You did NOT just say that? Did you?

Part of the problem is Pocket D is usefull for both purposes.

Give the folks that want to run trials an big giant empty room with an insp vendor that can hold a huge number of people that either side can get to with a personal teleporter from anywhere in the game and most of us will leave pocket D alone.

Well, unnecessary usage of powers to lag up the place is pretty annoying, regardless of if you are a roleplayer or not. You're not going to need fire auras or stealth mists just to sell some salvage or buy inspirations.

Yet it is just as annoying to the person with the power on, to have to turn on all their toggles every time they start a trial. You also don't need to RP in that zone either. Just because it is not needed is not really a great arguemnt for someone to stop.

We soo need a new war zone, just for these trials and future events, like another vanguard base..just a base nothing more

I'm calling it! From now on everyone RP in Bloody Bay! Ok, so it's not "co-op" but you won't have to do that silly text fighting then either

Might as well... It's not like anything ELSE happens in there, is it?

I know my main is rather in her base or at the Midnighters Club then at the bar... even though she likes to party once in a while.
Ahhh. Another roleplayer of similar mind. What server are you on? >.> Would love to stumble across some in character play (no--not ERP ) someplace like the Midnighter Club or Vanguard Base that actually made contextual sense. The explanation of "putting ones feet up after a long day of heroing and villaining at the bar" still strikes me rather silly stretch for what RP that some people take as very srs. (One thing I did really like about Champions btw was the gym they put in as an RP mini zone. It was great for pick-up sparring as well as a place that you'd more likely find several of my characters going to relax after a long day of heroing...)

Back to the main topic, despite my prior rants about the finer points of roleplay, those pointing out that pocket D in its disregard by the non-RP majority of the player population did become a defacto RP haven on many servers. Yes it is all "our" game, meaning those that run trials and RPers who don't run trials. I'm not sure if harmony will every be found, but polite mutual tolerance should be exercised at a minimum.

And before the obvious argument gets posted to this thread.. YEAH AND WE PAY OUR MONTHLY FEES TO BE HERE TOO. Last I checked there was no sign on the entrances that said "for RP purposes Only"
This part is one big dollop of hypocrisy.
"I have nothing against you BUT YOU'RE PLAYING THE GAME WRONG!!!"

For some people, level doesn't matter. Character development through RP is. 'Improving' a character may mean making them more mechanically efficient, or it may, for others, mean building them, developing them and having others interact with them.
On the flipside, who are You to say thats wrong?

'We pay our fees!' is the same ammount of steaming turd to an arguement as 'I'm an X months veteran who -insert rant here-'. The request was not unreasonable, nor was it rudely put. Coming here and then effectively slamming the person for 'having the gall to ask!' is little short of pathetic.

I hope you don't come to Union, is all I can say to that...

Given that it should be Vanguard co-ordinating these attacks in the first place, why not just open up the huge garage in the Vanguard base and hand everyone a free teleporter to it? Or make it part of the soon to be issued Vanguard pack or purchaseable with Vanguard merits.

Makes more sense than launching our offensive from a nightclub.

Union has plenty of that. Rp in missions, TF/SFs, bases, PD, RWZ, even a few IC things like mothership raids and such (wasn't there even a Hami once?)

But yeah, a bit of common courtesy, and not telling people they are 'playing the game wrong!' would go a long way.

People need to act like adults about this sort of thing. Everyone who pays a sub is entitled to gather in any zone they wish to play the game. Pocket D is no exception. Either deal with the fact that other people play this game - not always in a way that you care to participate in - or find somewhere else to go and/or something else to do. This applies to RPers and non-RPers alike.

Sorry, but if there's one pet peeve I have it's seeing people take an attitude of 'exclusive' rather than 'inclusive' entitlement. Everyone has the NCSoft-given right to gather in Pocket D. NO player has the right to dictate to any other player what they are 'allowed' to do there.

Fortunately, we don't usually see a lot of that. Normally, when we do, it tends to come from the kind of people who enjoy griefing RPers when we're quietly minding our own business.

You know, the sort we tend to get in the chalet over Christmas time...

I'd like them to implement actual power suppression in Pocket D, just like the quiet rooms in AE buildings.

The simple answer there is: "You're on the designated RP server, in a designated RP area. Go away."

The world just ended... Satan's skating to work, pigs are being shot out of the sky and aliens have just kidnapped the royal family.

I agree with you.

Simpler answer is to put anyone who suggests such a thing on /ignore and keep doing whatever you were doing.

Blazara Aura LVL 50 Fire/Psi Dom (with 125% recharge)
Flameboxer Aura LVL 50 SS/Fire Brute
Ice 'Em Aura LVL 50 Ice Tank

I very rarely set foot in PD these days as most of my characters aren't bar type people. I prefer it out in the world or while running missions. Still, everyone has their own style, all equally valid.

I used to go to GG, I can't bring myself to go back, ever since some one pointed out to me the statue is essentially a memorial. Kinda squicky people having their social evening on a monument devoted to a dead heroine.

Pocket D does serve for a nice location for my more socially inclined characters, though I would love to see a few RP friendly cross faction RP spots added.

Mission roleplay is <3 though!

I've always wanted a theater interior--perhaps in King's Row. One of those old run down joints.

Though admittedly that's not cross faction.

Ok, I have been a gamer for a LONG time. I started RPing in table top games when I was 9, and I am now 36. I even Boffer LARP and Action Theater LARP, which is are extreme form of RP.

I still can't grasp online RP. Only about 10-20% of what we communicate is eve verbal. That means that while online RPing you are losing about 80% of what you are communicating. W/o tone of voice, body language, and facial expressions I have no clue what someone is really saying.

Sorry, that was off topic.
