This may be the scariest truth I've ever seen on the internet.

As for the new pics...
Good changes!
I think she's really pretty and I have nothing against her (Shush, I didn't mean it that way). In still pictures, she doesn't come across as Wonder Woman to me. However, that could certainly change in live action. So, that doesn't mean much at all.
Her face looks fine to me. It's more her body. It's not that I believe the woman playing her had to be a body builder or anything... and when you look back at people playing such roles in the past, they were rarely big at all... but times do change... I'd just expect her to be just a little bit more sculpted/chiseled. Even if not more buff/bigger... just a bit more shaped... some healthy sinew showing when running/using her muscles.

It's quite possible they told her not to work out too much, so I'm not laying the blame on her.

Just babbling about pictures of a person in a costume playing a comicbook character for a tv show.
If she's responsible for my gasoline prices going up so much... I'd like her to be fired.
Otherwise... This will most likely be a show I have no interest in... but that's pretty much a given for all tv shows anyway, hehe.

I think everybody has a different idea as to what "Amazon" is. Problem is finding a tall woman in Hollywood who has the acting chops, the body tone and the curves. I think that's because some of those traits have been selected out of the Hollywood gene pool for a couple of decades now. That's why they are mostly 5' 6", 100lbs, with breast implants and the acting skills of a rutabaga.

At least Palicki is 5' 11".

As for the top being tight, I think that's to keep her from having a costume malfunction while doing those action scenes, and to keep down the chaffing.

I immediately thought WW meets 90210 when this pic popped up.

I didn't feel like searching the whole thread but wanted to confirm something I found online.

1. She is NOT going to be an Amazon. Just a human vigilante.
2. Her name is Diane Prince
3. She runs a multi-billion dollar corporation during the day.
4. At night, she dons the costume and runs around fighting crime.
5. She has a scooby gang of computer/research nerds that work for her in her basement or something.

Is this true?

Yes, except this one,
1. She is NOT going to be an Amazon. Just a human vigilante.

The writer said he found an actresss who could fit the bill...being tall and stuff. :-)

Then you had to find your Wonder Woman.
It was not an easy search, but it went far quicker than I ever imagined. After writing this script, I remember looking at several people and going, "Yeah, now good luck trying to find her." She’s got to be strong, smart, emotionally accessible — and oh yeah, an Amazon! Good luck. I remember speaking to DC, and saying, "We may have to compromise on the physicality. We need to go with the best actress. And if the best actress is five-foot-five, we have to be open to that, because there’s too many layers for this character to also demand that she be nearly six feet tall." And then lo and behold, in comes this girl named Adrianne Palicki.

I had seen her on Friday Night Lights and I always liked her work, but I didn’t get a sense of her stature. I guess he was sitting down in a lot of the scenes. So she stood up, and we met — eyeball to eyeball — she smiled ... and I knew during the course of the conversation that this was Wonder Woman. I just knew it. I had an instinctive feeling that this was her. So then she read. And she was. And she is.

Points 4 & 5 sound like deal breakers for me. I don't need remakes to stick to 100% of the comic lore but c'mon...

Why not update the new Thor movie to reflect a young version of Thor that heads to Midgard to hang out with a bunch of Norse mythology studying, Mjolnir necklace wearing, frat house partying dudes that do beer bongs out of hammer shaped funnels? He could do battle with their overbearing parents, the evil community college staff members and the rival Loki worshipping frat, 'I Felta Thi'.

Sounds god-awful and a great disservice to the character (and this is coming from someone who isn't a big Wonder Woman fan).

Personally, I think they had a "one on one" afterwards and she "confirmed" to him her credentials and now we have this girl as WW. She's been sitting a lot in FNLs and he "always liked her work" WTF? I wish he'd elaborate on "instinctive feeling." He probably cried out to Hera afterwards.

To be perfectly honest I'm not "sold" on this new Wonder McBeal concept either, and I'm saying that as probably one of the few people on this thread who's chosen to not automatically pre-judge this show before I see it. *shrugs*

Based on this tiny nugget of info it looks like this show's going to follow the Buffy/Angel/Dollhouse/Smallville model. It's not Lynda Carter's version of Wonder Woman and it's obviously not the version of Wonder Woman many people here feel comfortable with either. But if they manage to "mainstream" the character enough they may very well find a big enough audience for this show to keep it going that's NOT primarily traditional "comic book geeks". Face it people: We are a relatively small minority after all - the chances they are ever going to cater a show like this directly to us is just about nil. Sorry to burst everyone's bubble on that one.

It's funny, in a sadly ironic way, to think that many people here would rather have this new version of Wonder Woman outright fail than to imagine a world where it might actually succeed as a TV show that's not "made" for them. Basically the doom-mongers here are saying, "If it's not 100% exactly based on MY mind's eye version of Wonder Woman then I'd rather NO ONE anywhere have a chance to enjoy it." Pretty damn selfish if you ask me...

Between the alternatives of having a live-action Wonder Woman I don't quite "like" and no version of Wonder Woman at all I'll choose the alternative that finally puts her on my TV later this year. How on Earth do you think there will ever be a chance to have any OTHER version made if we don't at least get the pumped primed with this upcoming show? Do you think any network exec is ever going to consider the idea of making YOUR version of Wonder Woman if they see you pissing all over this one?

Think about it people. Stop shooting yourselves in the foot with all the nerd-rage...

I agree with you...usually TV/movie producers that do heroes on the screen cater to comic enthusiasts like this game caters to PvPers...doesn't really happen. I don't vote for failure, but not interested in a CEO by day/crime fighting vigilante by night type that is supported by a gaggle of computer hackers and R&Ders.

I can deal with some creative manipulation, the same way WW comic producers have changed her overall purpose from the author's original concept over the years. I'll have to see an episode before casting a final vote, but this already reminds me of Ang Lee's wacky interpretation of The Incredible Hulk with that awful film back in like 03.

I understand why they want to play on WW as a recognized icon etc, but if a large portion of a character's storyline is going to be altered, I would prefer they create a show based on a totally new character. That way, not as many people would complain or invoke the ancient ritual of nerdrage. Call her Ms Awesome or Fascinating Girl, she could battle baddos with modern gadgets; taking guidance from a sentient iphone that uses its command of the interwebz to support her and she could arrive on the crimefighting scene driving an invisible VW Bug...done and done.

The argument can very easily be made that a bad version is worse than no version, as it could do infinitely more harm for any future versions that might come up. If this current version stinks to high heaven, as many here believe it will, than studio execs might look at it as a concept that can never succeed and not ever look at it again. Every time somebody proposes a new, possibly good verson, they will point to this failed experiment and say "If David Kelly can't make it work, nobody can. No thanks."

I would rather they pass on this steaming pile in the hopes that something better can come along. I've waited this long for WW to come to the screen. I'd be perfectly happy to wait longer for a version that is actually good.

I understand what you're saying, but simply for the sake of discussion, I'd guarantee that Batman's popularity wouldn't have spiked nearly as high without the Adam West TV show.

This is what entertainment weekly said:

Your welcome, I posted specifically on this post because we had lengthy discussions about what a "wonder woman" series should be about. We had heated disucssions about some areas. So felt the show would get a showing and then a cancel, some felt it would never make the cut. I was in the never get a cut camp.

Well this latest attempt at Wonder Woman was apparently doomed from the beginning. As I said even in my last post on this thread a couple of months ago I was never totally sold on the idea and wanted the chance to see before I judged it. I guess that'll never happen now.

But for what it's worth it was clear to anyone who paid attention to the very first info that broke about this pilot months ago that this Wonder Woman was ALWAYS going to end up in the classic "shorts" version of the costume at some point. One of the leaks mentioned that her shorts outfit was clearly hanging in her closet along with other outfits. People decided to throw so many hissy-fits at the first photos we saw that the news that we were going to eventually see her in a version of the shorts outfit was totally ignored by most people. In hindsight maybe they shouldn't have kept this as much of a "secret" as it ended up being because maybe there would have been less negative reaction to the show. Who knows?

Anyway here's an example of what it was going to look like:

Eh, to be honest it's not that terribly impressive. But at least we can say this show failed for reasons OTHER than her not being in the classic short outfit, assuming that counts for anything. *shrugs*
