Did I get that part wrong? My WW background knowledge is lacking.

To think that the first Wonder Woman picture we saw at the top of this thread was going to be the "final" version of the outfit was just silly on your part.

At least come up with some reasonable reasons to dislike this show.
Not to mention the outfit could change from the pilot to a different outfit on the second episode that they think would be better (or the fans might think is better).

You can call it a stupid comment and I will accept that. They clearly have not done their homework on Wonder Woman.
They only group that will "buy" this version are the under 18 who have had no exposure to WW in any other form. The rest of us will puke at this version PERIOD.

As I've said for years (even on many other Wonder Woman threads long before this particular show became a reality) I pretty much assumed that there would NEVER be a living actress that would ever completely satisfy everyone's desires for this character.

Even I'm not completely sold on Adrianne playing the role (for all sorts of reasons) but I'm not going to let a "non-perfect" actress stop me from giving the show a chance because when it comes right down to it there will never be a perfect actress for the role. *shrugs*

I'll grant you that this particular show may fail. But seriously, ALL shows change their looks/costumes based on all sorts of reasons and/or feedback. The fact that this show has changed things is not a unique "failure" that only this one show has been guilty of.

[EDIT based on Residentx_EU's EDIT] I agree there's probably an element of "the younger audience won't really know any better anyway" going on here. But as a member of the "rest of us" audience I'm still willing to let these changes have a chance to fail before I'll ASSUME it's going to fail.

I agree. This costume looks better, but that shot is really awkward. I have a negative reaction to how the actress looks as Wonder Woman based on it (she just looks like some girl in a Wonder Woman costume), but I really don't think it's fair to judge that on this shot. That may even be her stunt double (she looks pretty different from the original image to me).

Hopefully they changed the script as well.

Also if they really want to sell people on this show then one of the shots they release needs to have her looking like she's ready to wail on someone.

Show her holding up some thug by the collar of his shirt with her fist cocked back or something.

While I recall a youtube video of someone going around asking women if they think WW should wear pants vs her well known outfit (and I don't recall a single one of them saying yes to the pants), I really don't think that'll happen in any live action version of Wonder Woman.

Not because it couldn't be done and made to look good, but because it would get groups on the shows butt crying foul, when they likely don't even know anything about Wonder Woman to begin with (or comics).

That would be awesome.

If I wanted to I could probably list off 50 actresses who were randomly offered up as the "perfect" Wonder Woman over the last 30 years. They were of course all "perfect" to whoever suggested them and each "imperfect" to plenty of others.

Anyone arguing with Monica Bellucci in her prime?

Anyone?

Bueller?

I personally have no problem with the "15 years younger" verison of Monica. But 15 years ago I recall plenty of people shooting her down, just like there have been people who've been against basically EVERYONE else who's ever been suggested for the role. Besides how is a time-warped version of Monica going to help us now - I'm sure there was a woman back in 1452 who would've been great too. *shrugs*

Like I said you'll never find someone everyone's going to like.

Lothic,

I know you want to be positive and give this show a chance but they're failing and the show hasn't even started yet. In Showbiz, creative talent/genius is based on how the culture accepts what you have created/presented. It's not an iterative process like other things in life. You get thumbs up if you plan/massage/think through your ideas well and they capture the "Spirit" of your target.

Honestly, they picked the wrong girl...she a gimicky outfit...they are doing poor...very poor promos for this show. Is this the best they have to offer us. The shoots to the public should be better than this. This is haphazard. This show is DOA.

Residentx10,

I know you want to be realistic about this new show's chances but I thought the same pessimistic things about Smallville and somehow it got 10 seasons. If you can explain how -that- happened we'll be all the wiser.

I make no predictions about how this new Wonder Woman show will do. But once I actually WATCH it I'll be much more able to either rip it apart or praise it as the case may be. I've been wrong in my guesses far too many times to really assume anything about Hollyweird anymore. *shrugs*

Smallville was different. They targeted it a very specific group. Smallville was presented in "Young Adult" vision. This subtle difference is what made Smallville successful. It reached it's target audience without being compared to the Mature Smallville we know in DC Comics. They even gave it a different title to set expectations,"Smallville."

This is what the Wiki says about Smallville:

The longest-running comic book based series in television history,[3] Smallville began its tenth and final season in September 2010.[4] The series follows the adventures of Clark Kent (Tom Welling), who resides in the fictional town of Smallville, Kansas, during the years before he becomes Superman.

It seems like it's harder to keep a show on the air when you just stock it with hot women as opposed to good looking dudes. I mean look at Birds of Prey, Dark Angel, and Dollhouse. Maybe the balance of viewership has shifted toward females.

I like to think the writing has the most impact, which kept Buffy and keeps Supernatural on the air.

I know if you look through this thread it seems like I've been a "cheerleader" for this new show. My whole position all along is that I'm simply willing to give it a chance to fail or succeed before I prejudge it.

Trust me - if this thing turns out to be bad my scathing comments will be so harsh it'll make what you've said here look like fanboi love by comparison.

My point was is that I've been a fan of comic book and sci-fi shows for over 30 years and based on everything I thought I knew about how things were going to go I SERIOUSLY expected Smallville to fail after only a few shows. I watched the first 3 or 4 episodes and fully expected its failure for many of the same kinds of reasons you're expecting the Wonder Woman to fail. Obviously I was wrong.

As I've often said on this thread already I've basically waited 32 years for this show to happen. I think I can be willing to give it a few watches regardless of any "predictions" one way or the other.

And that's cool and okay. I don't have a lot of time personally, I'm always looking ahead to plan my time. I just don't watch TV to watch it. I plan it or I watch it later when it hits DVD.

This show has not attracted the right talent to do it justice. It's sad really but no one yet can present a modern version of WW. They keep on trying to recreate some part of the past that simply is dated in 2011. I go out on a limb and say this but WW must be "reborn" physically to be sucessful. Lynda Carter will have to die too :-) Her image "as Wonder Woman" is preventing WW from getting her due like Batman and Superman. Lynda Carter is Wonder Woman in many people's minds. For example, I have a home in Columbia, MD. Lynda lives in Potomac, MD. She is so adored by the community here it would just make you sick. She is WW to many here and they just don't want someone replacing her yet.

I'll give this series the old six episode try. If I dont like it after six episodes (I'm looking at you "The Cape") I'll drop it.
