I think it says a lot that Smallville did it better. Smallville.

I didn't have high hopes for this show when I read the script and now... well this certainly isn't helping.

I think the colors help draw attention to that. But if I picture it in brown I find it's much more believable, but that first pic . . . gak.

Personally, I don't like the Smallville version at all. It looks kind of frumpy and dull. The upshot of all this is it gives me plenty of material for my wonder woman twitter.

Again I'm far from giving this show any final judgements one way or the other...
What she said. Remember, the early Thor images looked fake and plastic-y too, but the outfit looked much better in the actual trailers.

I'm not sold on the pants and boots being the same color. I'm thinking they should have gone black with the pants and then with the classic red boots, or maybe with these pants and black boots. Still, I like my WW in either pants or a reasonably modest skirt, so if nothing else I'm encouraged by the lack of granny panties or Wonder Thong.

If you're looking for the "gritty ancient battlefield amazon warrior" version of WW this isn't going to be your show.
What sucks is that when this piece of garbage fails, they're going to once again claim that it's because "audiences don't like female superheroes".

Xena is probably the closest thing we'll ever get to a decent portrayal of Wonder Woman.

I just think the smallville version looks better than that plastic piece of crap. That being said, I'm not a fan of the smallville costume either.

You're right. It looks like they're going for the truck stop prostitute version of WW.

You're prob'ly right. In my mind, she's a tough, lead an army into battle sort of person. I guess in the minds of the show's makers, she's something else.

In that picture she looks like a little girl.
It doesn't help that the golden items on her outfit look like they're made of cheap plastic.

That costume looks terrible. Especially the pants and boots. I suppose I should just be happy they gave her black hair...

I really hope that isn't the actress playing WW. She looks like she ate a meal once, about 4 years ago. WW is a warrior and should look like one. This girl looks like she just escaped from a refugee camp.

I have a strong feeling this show will not be for me.

Two things..

First, the boots need to red instead of blue.

Second, NBC.. did you not learn anything from your last failure of a rebooted 70's TV show with a female lead? Not to mention, you just got done canceling a TV show about a Superhero.. and that was of a character that no one seemed to care about. Tread lightly NBC, tread lightly...

One word sums up my thoughts on that costume and the person in it the way it looks in that picture...

Garbage

Not sure why people are asking to lose the lipstick. She's usually drawn with red lips. Those ain't natural.

Darker blue, some red on the boots (not totally red), and she looks just fine. Still way better than the rubber looking Smallville-stripper version of WW's outfit.

If she's supposed to be a young adult version of Diana, they got a good actress for the role.

And finally, at least they didn't give her a Members Only jacket.

Loose --> not tight.
Lose --> Did not win, misplace, cannot find, subtract.
One extra 'o' makes a big difference.

It is. And she looks perfectly healthy to me. Normally. As in not in that costume that comes across something Cinemax would show.

Somewhere there is a credible TV/movie vehicle that will do the character enough justice that the product as a whole succeeds. Too bad this doesn't look it and since this mostly looks like previous failed attempts by NBC, nobody else to going to try it for some time. For now, I can enjoy the animated version and know that once this bombs, and it will, I can look forward to another attempt sometime in 2020+.

I think the shine on the otufit is partly because it's a photoshoot, which are almost always over-lit compared to actual filmed scenes.

And she has got a good no-nonsense stance and expression

Sadly you may be overly optimistic in thinking the next attempt at a good Wonder Woman show may only take another 10 years or so to happen. Keep in mind that this upcoming show will be the first attempt at a Wonder Woman TV show in 32 years, the last of course being with Lynda Carter back in 1979. I'm actually old enough to remember seeing it way back then and have been hoping ever since to see more of the character on TV.

This is why, for better or worse, I can't as of today automatically give up on this new show just yet. I'm still more than willing (even despite this questionable costume) to have some hope that the final product will be watchable because I don't exactly want to have to wait 32 MORE years for another try at this.

I'm old enough that I had a poster of her hidden behind a more mundane poster (I think it was the original Star Wars movie poster) so my Mom wouldn't find it.

As for the photo of the outfit. Make the boots red and it's reasonable. No self respecting woman is going to fit in a skirt and the dance leotard bottom is just asking for problems plus it doesn't go seamlessly with the corset top. Sad to say but pants is just the better alternative.

I'm also in the red boots camp. Also, while I haven't yet seen the episode of Smallville with Wonder Lois, I think that her version beats this official one (and also seems to have taken inspiration from this):

Edit to add:

I am glad that they at least are brave enough to go with bright colours. When I heard the concept of the show has her as a "vigilante-by-night", I assumed she'd be in black and probably wearing a trenchcoat, so I'll at least give them points for using a costume.

Still, I forsee one season, tops. Probably be cancelled after 6 episodes, unless it's actually good, in which case it'll be cancelled after three.

That was the point I made eariler - the new costume may not be ideal but at least she's not in full black body armor with a pointy-eared mask.

As far as some of the other criticisms go I think some are more valid than others. For instance while I think the new lasso is a tad cheesy it's better than others we've seen:

Notice how the lasso in this Lynda Carter still doesn't look like much more than a golden shoestring.

I think the only thing that's seriously bothering me most about the new outfit is the blue boots. Like others have said they really need to be red.

Sadly it'll probably go like that. Even Lynda Carter's Wonder Woman only got one season on ABC before CBS gave it another chance with 2 more seasons.

I have to say, IMO, this costume is horrible.
Everything is way too thin and plastic.
Even the actress is plastic... she doesn't exhibit anything beyond "model".
There's more to portraying a character than "pose this way". bleh.

I agree with others who have said that the essence of WW is a fighter. The actress and her costume need to reflect that. The costume should definitely have more... substance, density, if you will.

And the boots need to be red.

While Adrianne Palicki is just shy of being 28 I do see where she could pass for being around 19-21. Based on the hyper-plastic "Katy Perry" stylized direction this show appears to be taking it almost makes you wonder if maybe they should have sold this as a younger Wonder Girl concept instead. *shrugs*

Ironically, IIRC the episode, the Smallville one is SUPPOSED to look like a Halloween costume I agree it looks a lot better than this new costume... The pants and the "metal" are the worst offenders to me. Also a /lot/ of wrinkles beneath the knee and down to the ankle... that may be nitpicking I guess.

I hold out hope for the show; I really want it to be good, but I don't have high expectations. I doubt it'll even surpass the Cape, but like the Cape and Smallville, I'll probably watch every ep anyway...

EDIT: To be clear, the premise and description of the show definitely hurt it a lot more in my eyes than the gripes about the costume.
