I think it would be super helpful if the "metal" bits were shinier than the rest of the outfit. It may be not so terrible if the fabric were matte. Shiny and tight is the easiest route to cheap tart. Also her lipstick should be a bit redder and darker. As a look it really says "escort" more than super heroine

I think her Tweets are often funnier than the comic sometimes.

The good news is that if they use that script, it will never get past the pilot stage thus saving us the frustration of seeing another good series ended prematurely.

I wonder how much they begged/paid her to say that.

Note, she never said she liked the new outfit, just that the actress is beautiful and the show sounds good. Total plausible deniability. ;P

That's weird the article's dated today because I could have sworn I read something about Lynda Carter liking the new show like a month ago. Basically that means she said what she said before the new costume appeared, for what that's worth. Anyway I'm sure Lynda's not going to burn any bridges to the new show at this point because even though she says she won't have anything to do with the pilot I'm sure she's angling for a cameo in a later episode.

There's no reason to think she's not liking it on what she knows.

David E Kelly has made great shows. She could easily just have confidence in what he's planning.

Let's all be honest here. This show has EPIC FAIL written all over it. The script is crap and the costume looks like she got it as Party City for Halloween. I think it's pretty obvious strong female/superhero came first with Kelly and then he realised, "Oh wait isn't there some one like that all ready?" All original concept and then he slapped the Wonder Woman name on it for a selling point.

Something witty and profound

You realise there're shooting this right now. Right?

I'll be honest here: It actually doesn't ultimately matter to me if they shot this thing last year. I'm still going to give it a proper chance.

If it sucks based on my ACTUAL experience of having watched it then I will end up being merciless against it. I have no idea if you've ever read my other comments on this forum over the years but I have no problem ripping shows to shreds that actually deserve it.

But until I know this new Wonder Woman show deserves my scorn I'm not going to bother to engage in pointless assumptions and armchair prognostication of its success or failure. I don't need to try to make myself seem "cool" by pre-crapping on something I've never seen before. *shrugs*

Lothic,

It's not armchair we're doing. We're the experts :-)

First, they couldn't afford a "hot" wonder woman.

Second, Lynda Carter comes out of retirement to "bless" the show

Third, this show is being done by NBC. They couldn't even remake the outrageously Successful Bionic Woman into a 2.0 version.

But you want to "give it a chance." I'll live my life while you "critique" the show. When this is all over and they cancel this show in the first season I want you to comeback here and post highlight videos of the "new" wonder woman for all of us to laugh at, ok?

We're the experts? Seriously? lol

We're a collection of nerds and/or comic books geeks who have collectively chosen to waste our time to talk about a show in a forum that hasn't even aired yet about a fictional comic book hero. If that makes us "experts" on anything then I've seriously underestimated the power of the Internet.

I'm 40 years old and I'm guessing that I've seen dozens of shows come and go long before most people posting on this thread were even born. I'm not naive about the chances of this new show. On the other hand I was dead certain that shows like Smallville were going to be cancelled after "a few episodes" and somehow it managed to last 10 seasons.

I guess my point is there's really not much point in pissing on this show before anyone's seen it. If it sucks as bad as many people assume it's going to it'll be gone soon enough. I'm still going to be happy that it happened at all because at least a recent failure would be better for Wonder Woman than saying "it hasn't been on TV for 32 years". (*drink*)

As far as me bothering to "post a highlight video" I won't have to bother - it'll be on YouTube soon enough regardless.

I'm gonna agree with Lothic on this. There's literally tons of (in my opinion) crap I can't believe is still on TV because I refuse to believe people are stupid enough to watch it, and there's just as many shows (and movies) I can't believe weren't huge hits and got cancelled and sometimes pulled off the air before the first season was over.

That makes a lot of sense.

On the other hand, sometimes they actually do get a property and then put somebody that doesn't appreciate it for what it is in charge of it. Maybe Wonder Woman will fight a giant spider in the third episode.

You know, if you replaced "Themyscera Industries" with a law firm, and dropped the triple identity bit, this would probably make a great She-Hulk show. She-Hulk's comics have been light hearted, with her hanging out with friends, partying, and having romance issues, and David E. Kelly certainly knows how to make a light-hearted show about lawyers that like to hang out, party, and have romance issues.

Hell, maybe Fista is right, and he originally wanted to make a She-Hulk show, was turned down by Marvel, and tried to modify it to fit Wonder Woman.

Actually based on what's happened over the last several years it seems like the exact reverse to me. I'm guessing Kelly didn't start out with this idea about a "generic superheroine show" and somehow managed to grab the Wonder woman license to try to legitimize it. It seems more like the Wonder Woman license was floating around in limbo waiting for someone to pick it up and try to make something out of it.

There have been several big names associated with trying to write scripts for Wonder Woman in the last few years. As has been mentioned even people like Joss Whedon were related to the property not too long ago.

My guess is that they finally decided to trust the property to Kelly simply because he has a track record of successful TV shows. Now I'll tell you point-blank I NEVER watched Ally McBeal myself and always thought the concept of the show sounded completely silly. But no one can deny that it had five seasons worth of episodes and was well liked by many people. I guess there's no accounting for taste...

I think the true irony here is that people are going nuts over the slim possibility that Kelly might be able to make a -successful- show out of this mess. We all know the chances that this'll become "Wonder McBeal" is about 99.9% and there are people here who hate that idea with a passion. But what would be worse than someone perverting their beloved amazon warrior into "Wonder Mcbeal" than to have "Wonder McBeal" actually become a popular show? I almost want to see that happen just to laugh.

I really enjoyed Ally McBeal. I hated the main character, but the supporting cast was fantastic, and the writing was great.

I just want Wonder Woman to be treated with respect. I think this whole "Themyscera Industries" idea isn't treating her with respect. Wonder Woman sells Wonder Woman merchandise? That's intensely self-centered, and goes against everything she stands for. Wonder Woman is about love, honor, forgiveness, generosity, selflessness, strength, and integrity. Not the superficiality that I saw in the pilot synopsis.

She-Hulk can be superficial sometimes, and it's fun and light-hearted. But she's She-Hulk. Wonder Woman isn't like that. And yeah, if this succeeds and replaces the public's view of what Wonder Woman is, I'll be very unhappy. If it fails, it will have been a waste of a chance for the character.

I'll watch the first episode and hope that I'm wrong about it not treating Wonder Woman with respect, but from what I've seen, it doesn't look good.

Okay, I have one word for the costume.
STRIPPERIFIC.
Seriously, she looks as if she actually tried to breathe she'd come popping out (in several areas), never mind actual combat (though you never know, the "show them the main guns" maneuver might stop LOTS of fights).

It looks like a slightly chopped down latex getup from some sex toy shop.

I can see that on set it'd probably come across as darker and not so shiny but damn.

As to the costume recolor, if they made the pants that dark they'd come across black on television.

As to the "she has no cheekbones". Part of that is her cheeks aren't all that prominent to begin with. In one of the vids posted here, her cheeks are only prominent due to the makeup she's wearing. So part of this is probably flat-face, and part of it is probably a badly done airbrush job.

And while I'm male, sexist pig enough to fap a bit. That's about as far as this costume's appeal goes.

Clicking on the linked image above will take you off the City of Heroes site. However, the guides will be linked back here.

There's a simple way they could avoid the "disrespect" to the character you're talking about. All they have to do is establish that Themyscera Industries is a big time contributor to all sorts of charities and worthy causes. I could easily see Wonder Woman being willing to "profit" off of her own name and image if she was able to use the money gained from that to be able to finance disaster relief, disease research, green technologies, homeless shelters and so on.

Well it's not like they haven't tried to get these actresses into the tightest outfits before. There was the classic story of how Jeri Ryan (Seven of Nine on Star Trek: Voyager) kept passing out during her first dress rehearsals as Seven because the initial version of her super-tight outfit was keeping her from being able to breathe.

I'd rather she just spent her time saving people's lives instead of running a corporation named after her homeland that sells merchandise branded with her name. I don't really think donating to charities makes up for the cheapness inherent in the concept. It's just not something Wonder Woman would do.

I'm honestly not sure it'll "work" either. I'm simply willing to give the concept a chance to play out on screen before I -assume- it's a bad idea. *shrugs*
