More Boosters than Cossie Slots
None of us can speak as to how difficult a task that "slight UI tweak" really is.
I'm all for the idea, it's just a matter of convincing devs that it's worth the time to enact.
Where to now?

Costume Slots Addition Final Number: 10 Slot 1: Base - Character Creation Slot 2: Level 10 - Free Slot 3: Level 20 - Current Unlock Slot 4: Level 25 - Free Slot 5: Level 30 - Current Unlock Slot 6: Level 35 - Free Slot 7: Level 40 - Current Unlock Slot 8: Level 45 - Free Slot 9: Level 50 - New Unlock Slot 10: Halloween Salvage Sorted. People that don't care about costume slots much get the 5 for free (Base and four free ones) while those who DO care get double slots to play with. And all that needs working on is a slight UI tweak and one new mission to unlock the level 50 slot. I don't see a downside here. |

i'm all for more costume slots, they put em up, i have ideas to fill em.
Yeah, I was just going to chime in that (besides possible memory/database/under-the-hood stuff [which could be a huge issue]) the UI is probably the main culprit.
Right now, we have the 5 slot window.
(This is not a rhetorical question) How would you go about designing the UI for more slots?
I'd say that the images in the window now are about as small as you'd want to go. So, I'd want to keep those costume images the same size. Would we need to scroll? Add a TAB? Page 1: 1-5 and Page 2: 6-10 (or whatever the numbers may be)
I tend to go with iconic looks for my characters and enjoy staying in that one costume (besides the occasional story arc twists that may result in different costumes)...
However...
- I do have different sorts of characters that call for more then just one look (including shapeshifters)
- Bollocks to me if I only use one costume... plenty of people like to use more
- Even with my "iconic" looks, I have masked, mask-off, battleworn, aura-options and secret identities (as well as some characters have different apparatus/outfits for different jobs). And, honestly, I'd often like more than one look for secret identities/casual clothing... As they may want with hat and without hat versions, etc. Work and out-of-work versions... Skiing and beach versions...
But I can absolutely see value in having more than 5 slots.
Of course some of us will always want more, but I don't think it is unreasonable to up the amount over the years now and then.
I do like Tech's list of costume slot options.
Short of that... I've always felt that a costume slot should have been awarded at 50 (I can't count how many times newer players heading from 40 towards 50 have been disappointed when that comes up, hehe).
Definitely put me in the camp of MOAR.
I'm just curious (barring any other technical hurdles) what the UI should be for more slots!

And I like Techbot Alpha's idea but you know...
How many of this suggestions see the light in game? Im getting a bit sick of this threads that go to nowhere. Always the same, nice ideas, people arguing and /signing then after a few months a new thread is open with same suggestions and so on...

The City of Heroes Community is a special one and I will always look fondly on my times arguing, discussing and playing with you all. Thanks and thanks to the developers for a special experience.

Ideally for free and per Techbot's suggestion above.
But I'd pay for it. I suggested once that future Booster Packs should come with a built in extra slot too. Probably a max of 10 with the current slots.

I have a few characters who might make use of this, but their limited number doesn't stop me from approving the idea. Make it so.

Eh. Feels like a waste of time and resources, considering there is a "save" feature and the devs constantly tell us how painful redoing the UI could be. But hey, if they ever get spare time and some random guy decides to go for this, like with [walk], I won't complain.
I'd be all for this. But people like EvilGeko would likely scream bloody murder that this would be a "waste" of an Incarnate award. And honestly I'd probably agree with him on that point.
Extra costume slots should never be Incarnate and/or Vet awards. Far too much whining would ensue. They should either be unlockables or purchasable so that the people who want them can get them and the people who don't won't have to bother. |

I've been complimented on my costume designs more times than I could count, but even I have a hard time coming up with five different designs per character. A lot of them don't even need more than one.

I'm not sure which term is more pointless and irritating, 'cossie' or 'toon'.
probably 'cossie' since it shaves a whopping ONE LETTER off the word it "abbreviates".
may a lexiconical black hole swallow them both.

Since you can't, this is a valid request for those that make frequent use of the costume creator and alternate slots.
GG, I would tell you that "I am killing you with my mind", but I couldn't find an emoticon to properly express my sentiment.

Whether additional slots are made available for free or for purchase, I'm all for the option becoming available. Though some of my toons barely use all 5 slots, most of them could easily use 10. I like to have one slot for special occasion/holiday outfits, but often I'll have enough costume ideas I want to use on a toon that I leave the holiday stuff by the wayside. To swap costumes using the Save Costume feature, you do still have to either spend the dough or use a free token.
Plus, the 'superheroes only have one iconic costume' concept doesn't take into account streetclothes or disguises. I say if it's possible to add more costume slots, it should be done. It benefits those who want it and doesn't impact those who don't.

Nonsense. Some characters don't even have a costume design that they stick with and alternate from. There are more costumes I could give to Succubus Kali for example but can't, so I have to resort to swapping different outfits around. |

I'd gladly pay for more slots with 2 conditions:
1) They'd have to be cheaper than character slots.
2) We would have to be able to have AT LEAST EIGHT per toon. (I have one guy that really needs 3 more.)
Paragon City Search And Rescue

I need 87 more slots...
If anything because I have 87 tailor tokens sitting on my main character.
I'd pay for extra costume slots if they were an account unlock, not per character.
Me too, I would pay for it.
I want costume slots for:
1. First costume. (original)
2. My signature costume.
3. Formal outfit.
4. Street or Casual outfit.
5. Pocket D/Night Out/Cocktail Dress outfit.
6. Super Group Uniform. $
7. Vanguard Uniform. $
8. Cimerora Outfit. $
9. Space Station Outfit - I have a Spaceship base in my Super Group base. $
10. Halloween Event outfit. $
11. Winter Event outfit. $
12. Valentines Day Event. $
13. Swimsuit/Beach/Pool outfit. $
14. Day Job outfit. $
15. Workout outfit. $
16. Domination outfit. (as in [Dominator.Domination]) $

I personally have no need for more than two slots per character (most only need one), but I can understand why some people need more.
