More Boosters than Cossie Slots

most of my characters tend to run on just their base slot.

the costume becomes so inherantly them by the time they reach level 20 or 30 that I rarely want to add anything to it. The most alternative slots may get is alternate colours.

However my namesake and my 50 stalker both tried using unlocked stuff, but that was mostly only making minor alterations to the costumes than anything.

Just one little fun fact I don't think anyone's mentioned that's relevant to this discussion. Has anyone wondered what happens if a VEAT does their extra mission for a costume slot, all three normal missions and turns in a set of salvage? Well guess what: They end up with six slots. All of them accessible too, the only problem with the 6th is you can never edit it due to the UI not having a way to access it in the tailor. So the game on the backend is indeed capable of handling more than 5 slots - there's no hardcoded limit to keep it at 5. And I highly doubt 6 is the absolute upper limit either, at least as far as the technology is concerned.

Hmm... at some point I'll have to get my rogue brute, who is currently 35 and has all five slots by virtue of being able to do both sides' costume missions (yes this works) and level her to 40, then do the level 40 missions and turn in some salvage and see if I end up with 8 slots total.

From a purely "software technology" point of view I have no doubt that this game could handle more than 5 costume slots per character. We not only have your point about VEATs having 6 but there's the ever-present example of Champions Online's ability to allow its players to have far more than 5 if they want them.

Now obviously I understand there would be coding involved to make this happen in CoH, and I'm even willing to suspect that the effort involved would not be trivial. If it were simple it probably would have happened years ago.

Still I want this added to the game not only because many people would have fun with it but on a certain level it actually bothers me that Champions Online does ANYTHING better than this game does and I believe in this area they are currently beating us. If I can motivate our Devs to do this as a matter of pride I'm more than willing to push that button.

I have a character who has done all the costume slot missions on both sides and did not get any more costume slots to open up. I did this on a Controller - if a VEAT is somehow "bugged" to allow more than 6 right now then I would be pleasantly amazed.

The Animal Pack is a complete and total waste of time, money and effort to me, and yet, shiver me timbers....! The devs made it anyways! Amazing.

I think we should get more costume slots FOR FREE. It should be a vet reward or something, because I'm feeling about fee'd to death over here.

If you or anyone else does not wish to unlock more slots, then don't. Its not like someone has a gun to you guy's heads shouting, "UNLOCK THE COSTUME SLOTS OR ELSE!" Sheesh, just don't do it. People who want them are happy. People like you are happy. It's a win-win for everyone.

We go through this every time this request is made. What do you care if other people can make more costumes? I sure don't care if everyone else wants to run around wearing miniature wolf-heads

I have 2 character concepts that could do with a 6th or 7th costume. And 1 character that just likes to have a lot of various costumes.

On my other 30-40 characters I hardly ever use more than 1 or 2 costumes.

Just to say that I'm not opposed to this in anyway, but I wouldn't really get much use out of it either.

Didn't they patch out an unintended 6 costume option for VEATs.

Seems the game can handle extra costume slots already if I am remembering right we just need someone on the UI side of the house to add a scroll bar to the costume box.

Can you read? I said I don't care if they sell them which is what the OP asked for. Go troll someone else.

You should avoid tagging someone as a troll since it's a modable offense. That said I'm surprised you don't know the type of poster she is by now.

Its hardly "trolling" to note that you pop in with this exact line of defense each and every time that someone requests more costume slots. You've been doing it for years now, its what is expected from you.

This game is full of things that we as individuals don't like or use for ourselves. Yet other people are happy to see it, and what does that hurt naysayers? Didi the developers creating the Animal pack personally harm me? No. A good example of someone not being harmed by something they have zero use for.

Perhaps you ought to quit "trolling" threads suggesting things you disagree with. 'Ave a nice day.

If that was all you had done i might agree with you.
(It wasn't. (Not even close.))

And i'm not sure how expressing indifference is defending against something (which requires opposing it), but i suppose that premise was as relevant and logical as the rest of your post. (Not logical at all.)

(Parentheses contain commentary unnecessary for those who are not thinking impaired.)
(Nested parentheses contains venomous snakes. (Don't touch the nested parentheses.))

Anyway, i would fully support the addition of more costume slots. If they could be unlocked for a fee i doubt i'd ever buy any, but i still support the idea of making more available. i'd certainly use any i didn't have to pay real money to acquire.

Trying to think of a technical limitation for our current number of slots. Are the extra costumes stored as part of the information of the character (I.E. when you enter a zone, all the information about you, like powers, current costume, as well as position are loaded into the zone for everyone elses computer to draw you correctly) or are they stored in a separate database somewhere on the server? If those costumes are part of the character's info that has to be regenerated every time you zone, doubling the amount of information that has to be sent for every character that's in the zone would be non-trivial towards overall performance. If all those costumes also had customized powers, that's even more info to send.

There just has to be a reason for why we only have 5 besides "The Devs just threw a dart at the board and it came up 5." With all the new costumes they've tossed at us over the years, you'd think if they could reasonably do it, they'd have added more costume slots as well.

Loose --> not tight.
Lose --> Did not win, misplace, cannot find, subtract.
One extra 'o' makes a big difference.

What defense? I said I DON'T CARE.

Your inability to comprehend the English language doesn't constitute trolling on my part.

It's not. People in the area only receive information on your current costume. This relates to why we have a 30 second timer on costume changes. Each time you change costume, it has to send the costume data to everyone nearby. A handful of people spamming costume changes could cause serious problems for people in the immediate vicinity.
