Discussion: Issue 20: Incarnates
Arc #40529 : The Furies of the Earth
Level 20 to 40 TF/SF - how is that going to work? If a team of all level 20s do it, will the mobs be level 20, or level 40?
If I wasn't interested in getting the Vanguard pack, this would actually be the first time I've considered allowing my subscription to lapse. Based on the information given, this issue contains *NOTHING* to interest me. No new powers, no new costumes. Just additions and upgrades to features I don't use, or that I actively dislike. Of course, that's pretty much exactly what I expected. I'm assuming that it'll probably be Issue 22 or 23 at this point before they bother to include anything I'd care about.
im a little confused about the respec badges. if you can't earn any new respecs but can still earn the badges...i don't know...that just seems like a very minor change or at the very least not something that warrants being in the overview.
Positron's i13 letter: We are trying to make PvP more accessible to new players, while giving experienced PvP'ers the advantage that comes with formulating tactics around the new systems we're putting in place. PvP from now on will be on our priority list. If something isn't working out, we'll be in there tweaking it and making it work, for the entire future of the product, not just Issue 13.
My name is Chad Gulzow-Man, and I approve of this overview.
Main Hero: Chad Gulzow-Man (Victory) 50, 1396 Badges
Main Villain: Evil Gulzow-Man (Victory) 50, 1193 Badges
Mission Architect arcs: Doctor Brainstorm's An Experiment Gone Awry, Arc ID 2093

Also, to the peeps wondering where the upcoming Incarnate Slot info is: didn't they post that almost exclusively on the Going Rogue website for the Alpha Slot in Issue 19?
I expect that's where we'll find the official info is posted in the next few weeks.

Fascinated by this league play and the new challenges. Nice to see more S/TFs but wished a few more SFs to balance red side depending how WST keeps going.
Back in January, Second Measure said that the Incarnate Trials in i20 would bring us more power.
http://boards.cityofheroes.com/showt...31#post3420931
"Issue 20 will unleash the Incarnate Trials that bring you even more raw power courtesy of the next levels of Incarnate abilities."
That implies to me that we should be seeing more slots unlocked with i20. Did I totally miss any mention of that in the overview? I know my reading comprehension is poor sometimes...
The only reason I mention this is that it's an 'overview,' and the unlocking of new slots seems a bit more mentionable than the ability to get all 6 respec badges. I mean, I'm a badger -- I want those badges, but...
Longbow Helicopters. Somehow getting onto an Arachnos-run air transport service doesn't strike me as the brightest thing a hero could do.

Well yeah, lol.

They never give out all the information in the first press release. I'm surprised they mentioned anything about respecs or the Black Helicopters at all, since those are such minor things compared to new content. As the day comes closer, they'll be giving out more info about secondary things like costume bits, tweaks to powers, etc. As nice as some of those things might be, they're not the selling point of the Issue for the majority of the player-base.
Also, there's always gonna be an Issue that just results in a 'meh' from someone. Nothing to quit the game over, but if all you've been doing for the past couple of years is 'meh' everytime something new comes, it's time to spend your money more wisely elsewhere. No shame in that.
As a side note, I'm enjoying the sudden flow of information. Paragon and NCSoft, this is what we've been talking about when we ask for news. Thank you for making more of an effort this year.
Loose --> not tight.
Lose --> Did not win, misplace, cannot find, subtract.
One extra 'o' makes a big difference.
This all looks interesting and I am looking forward to it. However, I still want an opportunity to fight on Emperor Cole's side. That would fit my Praetorian much better.
When enough characters for an Incarnate Trial are queued, the characters are teleported to the instance and automatically formed into a League. (This feature is currently only available for Incarnate Trials on the same server.) |
...Wait, what?
(This feature is currently only available for Incarnate Trials on the same server.) |
Does that imply... If that's only 'currently', then in the future can we... have cross server instances? Am I reading that right?
Necrobond - 50 BS/Inv Scrapper made in I1
Rickar - 50 Bots/FF Mastermind
Anti-Muon - 42 Warshade

Not singling out just you, but your post echoes what many will say so I'll address it as a group voice:

But my personal opinion is that I20 may hinge on what other goodies are coming IMVHO not necessarily the overly drawn out Incarnate content.
Sounds good so far. All I can say is we better get new costume parts too.
Dispari has more than enough credability, and certainly doesn't need to borrow any from you.

The assumption that the majority of the player base is looking forward to end game is just that. You can logically argue that this probably one of the most asked items for players that quit the game as they fill out the survey.

My two bits worth: Love the update. Seems to have a little bit of everything from badge QoL, mid level content/tf, endgame content, QoL with Heli transport.... yet there are still some jackholes that say that there is "nothing" for them in this issue....uh huh.
I have said it before and will restate it here; I don't envy the devs, its a thankless job. Obviously I will want to see the update implemented but sure looks go so far.... can't wait.
Wash: "I've been under fire before. Well ... I've been in a fire. Actually, I was fired. I can handle myself."
If people are gonna quit the game because they're not getting a new costume set or a new power to play with, they were probably gonna quit the game soon anyway. Those things don't define an Issue. That's not opinion, that's a fact. I know there's plenty of folks that are looking forward to the bread crumbs that come along with an Issue. My point is to not get upset at the first press release when they don't mention them, and assume they're never gonna come.

Issue 16 was VERY defining for this game. I'd say the one thing just about everyone remembers from that issue was Power Customization.
Also NEW sets can very MUCH define an issue. See powerset proliferation.
That statement of yours I bolded is VERY MUCH opinion for MANY subscribers, and is in fact NOT a fact. At all.
